RIM certainly deserves credit for its music offering, BBM Music. The other two major platforms already had music offerings, Apple with iTunes and Android with Google Play Music, so RIM tried something different. It hasn’t worked out as well as they’d hoped, but it wasn’t for lack of trying.
Of course, that still leaves BlackBerry users with few music options. Thankfully, developer CR Design has created a Google Play Music app called Googmusic. It will deliver Google Play Music to your PlayBook, and eventually to your BB10 device.
Of course, you can simply access Google Play Music from your web browser by visiting music.google.com. The app adds a bit of ease to the interface, though, so it might be worth your 99 cents.
Many of the reviews in App World, even the middling ones, note the superior UI. You can’t upload new music to the service or anything. You’re limited to playback, which is fine for most folks. This will be even more valuable once BlackBerry 10 devices drop; I’m not sure about everyone else, but I find myself listening to far more music on my smartphone than on my PlayBook.
You can get Googmusic for a buck at App World. Via CrackBerry.
