Like most people, I use my BlackBerry as my alarm clock. It’s the perfect little function for a device that sits on my nightstand anyway. It’s customizable enough that I can set it for the time I want, with the snooze interval that makes me most comfortable. If I’m real ambitious, I can go seek out a specialized alarm app in App World.
One thing I hadn’t really considered, though, is using my PlayBook as an alarm. But with the app Get Set – Get Up!, I think that’s all changed. It’s a pretty killer alarm app with feature that I dig. Progressive snooze Perpetual snooze-hitters will get a lot out of this app. The best feature, at least to me, is that it lets you choose which time you need to be up.
That is, you don’t just set the alarm for 7 and then plan to snooze for 15 minutes. You set it for 7:15, and then tell it to start waking you up at 7. Your snoozes progressively get closer together, giving you less of a chance to doze off between them. By your target time arrives, you’ll have a pretty constant alarm going, helping ensure that you’re up and at them.
The app does show you how much time is remaining, too, so that’s never in question. Tap to silence Sometimes it’s just too easy to hit the snooze and doze back off. You just tap the screen, and bam, you’re snoozing again. But with this app a tap doesn’t set off another snooze round. Instead, it temporarily silences the alarm. If you don’t do anything, it goes right back off. That way you have to deliberately hit the snooze button. That uses valuable brain capacity, which can help expedite the waking up process.
To-do list Get Set – Get Up! allows you to type a personal message that you’ll see when waking up. This has obvious uses. It’s difficult to remember things right when you wake up. Having an instant reminder can help you get the day started right.
Need to turn on the dishwasher before you leave? Need to set the crock pot? Can’t forget an important document? Just set the reminder in the app, and it’ll be right in front of you when you wake.
You can get Get Set – Get Up! in App World. For just $2, I’d say it’s a worthy investment.
