Mobile Notes: Push email, Expensive phones, Emergency, Fake phones

by on June 5, 2008

So remember the other day when we were talking about getting push email on your non-smartphone? Looks like there’s another player in the game: BlueWhaleMail. It’s a lot like TeleFlip, though it’s only available on Nokia Series 60 and SonyEricsson feature phones at this time. Clearly, they’re looking to expand. This is a nice development for those who want email on their phones, but don’t want to pony up the $200+ for a smartphone.
In a move that would have landed them in jail in the U.S., researchers have tracked 100,000 people, and it appears that we humans are not a migrant species. Close to 75 percent of those tracked didn’t leave a 20-mile radius over six months. Forbes takes a look at the world’s most expensive cell phones. [via textually] Remember the emergency alert system proposed by the FCC a few months ago? (Gee, I’m asking you to remember a lot today.) Looks like FEMA, they of the botched Katrina handling, will be taking the reins on this one. Anyone else a bit nervous? If you have a Motorola, Samsung, LG, Nokia, or Sony Ericsson phone and didn’t buy it from the most reliable of sources, it might be a fake. Feds raided and operation in Jamaica, NY, where they recovered over 15,000 counterfeit phones. And this is different than a “genuine Rolex watch” how?
