Alltel not dead, offering three free months of service

by on July 14, 2009

One might think that Alltel is dead by now. After all, Verizon purchased them last year, the deal was closed this year, and you might have heard of Big Red moving many Alltel markets over to the new system.

Yet there are still 91 active Alltel markets, leftovers from the divestiture Verizon had to make in order to complete the deal. These remaining markets are getting quite a deal, too. They can sign just one year contracts, as opposed to the industry standard two-year deal, and still get the same subsidy.

The latest deal for these limited markets: three free months of service when you add a new line. Even with an activation fee, this deal can mean incredible savings.

The offer extends to customers with a My Circle plan, Smart Choice Pack, or Bundled Wireless Internet. They can add up to four lines to an existing account, or activate four new lines, and get three months of service for free. The catch is a $25 activation fee, but even so that works out to significant savings.

The promotion is being billed as a back to school deal. While it comes a bit early, it still represents another promotion unmatched in the cellular industry. Combined with the one-year contracts, another unique aspect, the remaining Alltel customers have a good deal at hand.
