BlackBerry outage due to upgrade

by on February 13, 2008

So yes, the business world is abuzz with Research In Motion’s Monday BlackBerry outage. People want to know why this happened. Furthermore, they want to know why it won’t happen again. According to RIM, it was due to an upgrade which was meant to increase capacity across the network. Other upgrades of this type haven’t caused an outage in the past, so the company is confident that it will not occur again in the future. RIM was careful to remind people that the outage didn’t affect anyone. As Rae pointed out in yesterday’s post, she was still having a few problems around 7 EST on Monday, and as of Tuesday morning wasn’t able to contact a West Coast BBer. I reported no problems for myself, a personal BB user in the NY-metro area. This is just another in a chain of what seems like monthly BlackBerry outages. Every one of them, though, has reportedly been for a different reason. We’ll see if RIM can curb these outages in the future. But for the moment, upgrade or not, it’s still problematic.

Ana,call your service provider tell them abt the problem and they will walk u thru how to fix it.
Jean, try a battery pull and a hard reset. Or take it into ur wireless carriers store and make them fix it for u or replace ur phone.
Lawrence, call ur service provider tell them what u just told us and say that if they don’t give u a NEW model of the latest BB ur gonna switch companies and tell ur friends to walk with u. Good luck to u all.

I have a Blackberry Bold and have two problems. First, I can’t seem to pair with any other Blackberry’s via bluetooth. No one can connect w/ me so that I can send or recieve ringers, ect. Also, I had a specific sound for one individual in particular’s text messages. Ever since I did the most recent update to my phone, it won’t work.

Unable to see text or emails, when I try to open the text or email I get errors. I turned it off and pulled the battery, still does not work properly. What do I have to do to gain access?
