iPad Wont Save The Flash

As the Apple iPad nears its launch on Saturday April 3rd, 2010 I thought this comic from FoxTrot was a clever twist on the iPad promises.

As opposed to the huge head-start Apple had in the smartphone race there are many Android tablets already out & more upcoming that are more powerful & cheaper but without the Apple price premium.

Apple believes that the iPad is something that will save publishing and the news media while also self serving themselves with another monopolistic app monetization gravy train.

Apple is just looking to avoid any competition holes in the feeding trough by preventing Flash.

This FoxTrot comic calls out publicly the lack of Flash support before the iPad launch to remind all those that sold out on the preorder who its really helping.

The ipad is nothing more than another way for Apple to try and monopolize a genre of technology that already has established players. Give it a rest Apple nobody with any sense wants to give up individuality for an ipad, at least I don't.

Huge head start Apple had in the phone business? Hell, you make me smile, re writing history to suit yourself! I know some of you Yanks think the world stops at your borders, but there is a company called Nokia who had, and still have a HUGE lead and head start in smartphones. Apple came along and changed the game.

You Android fanboys are WORSE than iPhone ones, you know full well you would not even have any phones to crow about today if it were not for the innovation Apple brings.

Same goes for Tablet's, iPad will make a market for all your Android knock offs to take advantage of!

As for Apple Tax on a $499 device like this, get real, learn the VALUE of things and try to forget the PRICE of things, they are different things you know!

Kev,

To clarify it was implied the headstart Apple had was in putting to market a true smartphone.

Nokia (with Symbian OS) may be a smartphone in name but not in the true sense that the iPhone & Android provides.

Also the Android "knockoffs" are already available before the IPad is even released this weekend.

So for iPad "value" of its low price of $500 you can get right now the Archos 9 tablet with Android and the same resolution but also supports Flash, multitasking, a camera, real I/O ports, & a larger HD.

Thus leading to my previous statement that Apple doesn't have the headstart it had with the iPhone – at the very least parsing it to say in the US.
