So you know how the Thunderbolt was set for a release around February 23? And then how it was delayed? And how we’re still kind of hoping that it comes out shortly after the iPad? Yeah, don’t let it ruin your other plans. Verizon CTO Tony Melone talked about LTE, and his vague terms regarding the arrival of LTE smartphones — “before the second half of the year” — make it sound as though it will be a matter of months, rather than weeks, before we see the Thunderbolt. This isn’t to say that they’re going to wait until the last week of June to deliver the highly anticipated handset, but it’s still in the question. [Droid Life] Last week we saw an issue arise with the HTC Inspire 4G on AT&T. Specifically, it was that the device wasn’t uploading on 4G — or even on 3G, really. As it turns out, it might not have been an issue with the Desire itself, but rather an issue with it being Android. Or, should I say, an issue with it not being an iPhone. Alex Colon and the crew at PC Magazine recently tested the upload speeds of the iPhone 4 alongside the Inspire 4G and the Atrix 4G. The Inspire actually beat out the Atrix, though both have pathetically slow uplink speeds. The iPhone, meanwhile, was mostly up around 1Mbps. That’s quite odd, considering the 4G models have 14.4 modems and the iPhone caps at 7.2. Unsurprisingly, AT&T doesn’t seem eager to explain the situation. [PC Magazine] If you’re on a rooted phone, you might be interested in knowing that Cyanogenmod pushed out a second release candidate for CM7 last night. That ups it to Android 2.3.3, which opens you up for a few new possibilities, including cloud streaming (which, spoiler, I’m doing right now and will write up for the morning). You can head to Cyanogenmod.com to get the newest version. Or you can just download it through ROM Manager. It’s right there for the taking in the ROM list. Quickies
