Well, look at that. It’s the HTC Merge. We heard a lot about this device late last year, but it kind of disappeared. HTC has made the announcement, though, and it appears that Verizon won’t be the exclusive carrier. The press release mentions multiple North American carriers in spring 2011. The QWERTY slider will launch with Android 2.2. Of course, it will be a 3G device. But maybe that means it will launch at a lower price point. [Phandroid] We’ve been hearing this for a while now, but yesterday we got a little confirmation. The Android Market is now offering e-books. This can be a good thing, especially for tablet devices. But it can also cause problems. I know that multiple BlackBerry app stores, including App World, often get clogged with e-books, to the point where it’s tough to navigate new applications. I’m sure the Android Market will handle it a bit better, though. Hopefully movies and music will closely follow. [Engadget] Here today, gone tomorrow: Samsung and Sprint have pulled the Froyo update for the Epic 4G. There were apparently issues with data connectivity and SD card access. Why must they torture Galaxy S users so? [Android Central]
That comes form Best Buy’s internal system, and it appears as though it presents some poor news for the HTC Thunderbolt. We’ve heard March 3 or 4, which is an acceptable delay. But another week? OK, that’s still acceptable. But geeze, HTC. We want our Thunderbolt. [Android Central] Quickies
