It hasn’t been a great week in terms of BlackBerry news, but as always I’m trying to put a positive spin on things. There’s some deep honesty about the challenges RIM faces in the future, especially in the face of these most recent setbacks, but there’s still some optimism in there. So click on over here to hear the BBGeekcast (11 min, 58 sec) And don’t forget to subscribe to the podcast so you won’t miss future episodes!
You can also subscribe to the BBGeekcast in iTunes.
Highlights include:
We do kick things off with a bit of good news: the Porche Design P’9981. It’s a high-end device for sure, probably not meant for you and me. But it’s still pretty. Next order of business is the delayed PlayBook update. That one’s going to sting. We won’t see it until February, which changes things not only for us PlayBook owners, but also RIM. They had some opportunities with this update, and those are no longer in play. Finally, what’s with the trade-ins of BlackBerry devices? It was inevitable in a way, but with a record number of trade-ins RIM could face further challenges in getting BBX off the ground.

Love the Podcast, love the info, hate the volume levels.
You need to use leveling on your tracks.
100% of the time when I listen to Podcasts, I am not sitting at my computer. When I start one, I set the volume and walk away. I can’t do that with yours. I set it for the beginning, then have to run back for the next part to turn it down, then have to come back to turn it up to hear you talk.
Hopefully you will start leveling your volumes. I am sure people have stopped downloading because of this.
Otherwise a good podcast.
I kept my bold 9000 on charge last night on a table right next to my bed. There was a glass full of water right next to it, well my hand flipped over it (as i was asleep). I woke up in terror as i saw my bold 9000 dipped in a pool of water and the charger was plugged in. I immediately disconnected the charger and removed the battery from the phone and dried it. When i put back the battery no red led indication just the camera flash light turns on and nothing shows on the screen. Please help
Wanted, all you can really do is wait. Take the battery back out, put your blackberry in a container of uncooked rice, and wait at least 24 hours. I’d even wait longer. Only then should you put back in your battery.
I fear, however, that you might have lost it.
Open Sources, this is something I’ve been working with since the return of the podcast. I’m not sure where the trouble is coming from, but I have things leveled out pretty well on my end. It always sounds good on playback. I’m still trying to figure out the actual source of the low volume.
