The PlayBook numbers are in, and things look optimistic. Not only because of the sales numbers, but because of what it means for the future. There are at least two more versions of the PlayBook coming later this year, and solid initial numbers could lead to better sales later in the year, too. RIM has a few BlackBerry devices ticketed for major carriers this year. But it appears as though the carriers are going to make it a bit more expensive for you to stream video and music, and generally use the internet connection on your device. I’ve got the rundown.

I’m one of the non-BB users (Iphone 4 here) that bought a Playbook and so far loving it except for a lack of apps (but hopefully things will get better). The best thing I love about it is its portability. I can take it out while waiting at the doctor’s office without getting superconscious that I look like a “tool” reading a novel I downloaded from Kobo. It’s just Wifi but it serves me well since I am using it primarily as a portable device at surfing the internet while in bed. With regards to “there’s no native support for e-mail”, my Iphone takes care of that. The “video chat” is useless though. I haven’t used it once since I don’t know anybody with a playbook. More power to you and your podcast and keep them coming…
