It was BlackBerry 9800 week around the internet. We saw multiple videos — including three excellent ones that showed off OS 6 features — and even got some news about a possible release date. It’s still early, of course, and plenty can change between now and then, but it’s nice to finally have a guideline for what to expect. Highlights include:
I’m pretty excited about the 9800, and not because it’s just another new BlackBerry device. In fact, I’m excited exactly because it’s not just another new BlackBerry device. Not only are we getting a brand new operating system, but we’re also getting a new interface. Touchscreen plus QWERTY, without the SurePress screen we’ve grown used to. It should be a fun ride. We also have some tidbits on OS 6 and the Curve 9300. You might be disappointed by some of it, but there is some hope yet. And then there’s the Pearl 9100, which has finally hit a US carrier. It’s just not the one you expected.
