by on July 16, 2010

We know OS 6 is coming soon, but how soon? After all, soon is such an ambiguous word. We know that it’s shipping with the 9800, but what about other devices? We heard something this week that gives us an idea of when it’s coming, and it’s not going to make for happy upgrade seekers. So click on over here to hear the BBGeekcast (11 min, 47 sec) And don’t forget to subscribe to the podcast so you won’t miss future episodes!

Highlights include:
BB GeekcastThe GSM version of OS 6 seems to be coming along nicely. It’s still slated for release on the 9800, which should come in the third quarter — presumably RIM’s third quarter — of 2010. As we saw with OS 5, it will probably take more than a month to get this out to other eligible devices, but that’s still a decent timeframe. But what about CDMA? Looks like it might be behind. That’s something we just didn’t want to hear. BlackBerry tablet. It’s coming, and we’ve got some details. The processor and the screen details are nice, but I’m really interested in the camera. If the research note we cited holds true, this thing is going to have some serious power. I know it’s unfathomable that RIM could outfox Apple, but man, that would be a serious win on the tablet front. Makes me excited to get more confirmed and solid details.
