Could BBM land on other platforms? Probably not, but there was a lot of talk this week. We dive into that, plus some happenings with the PlayBook. So click on over here to hear the BBGeekcast (10 min, 35 sec) And don’t forget to subscribe to the podcast so you won’t miss future episodes!

You can also subscribe to the BBGeekcast in iTunes.

Highlights include:
BB GeekcastRIM is thinking about creating tools that will allow IT departments to manage multiple smartphone platforms. Clearly, that leads to talk of BBM on other smartphones, but I think that takes it a bit far. Really, RIM is trying to lock down the enterprise. The question is of whether IT departments will accept such a solution. The bigger news regards the PlayBook. An analyst thought it would flop because it required tethering. But it doesn’t. It just requires it for features you expect from BlackBerry. Yet it still performs the same functions as other tablets. The bulk of today’s show regards expectations vs. reality.
