The PlayBook might be the next device on tap, but there are many BlackBerry smartphones hitting the market in 2011. We got our first live looks at this this week. They really could set the tone for a new BlackBerry market. And, of course, there’s a PlayBook tidbit in there. Why did they launch it in Q2, anyway, after indications that it would be Q1?

Highlights include:
BB Geekcastif you haven’t done so yet, check out Boy Genius Report for their hands on with the new BlackBerry models: The Torch 2, the Touch, and the Bold Touch. These devices really up the hardware specs, bringing RIM up to 2011 standards. That’s a big deal. They could have waited back at the 2009/2010 levels, but they’ve jumped headlong into the present. I wonder if that changes the outlook of Android as the hands-down dominant platform in the future. And yeah, the PlayBook was probably delayed. But did Apple have a hand in it? A recent report suggests that this is the case, but it’s not malicious or anything.
