We’ve got a bit of hardware news and a bit of software news this week, and they’re both going to be controversial. What else is new? First is a new BlackBerry model, this one a flip. No, not like the Pearl flip. This is a full-sized device, complete with Storm-sized internal screen — though I see no indication that it has touch capabilities. Still, it could be a winner on the enterprise market. I don’t think, however, that the hipsters will be on board. RIM could also announce OS 6.0 as early as this coming week at WES, though it’s no guarantee. Boy Genius Report got a hands-on review of an early build, and it sounds good so far. It’s not a major overhaul — we’re not talking Apple or Android OS here. It’s a big step forward for RIM, though, perhaps as far as RIM was willing to go with their old, reliable OS.
