It was a big week for RIM and the BlackBerry brand, as the PlayBook hit shelves. Finally. There’s plenty to be discussed here, from the reception of the device to its shortcomings, and to how it will fare in the future. Highlights include:
BB GeekcastThe PlayBook appeared to do pretty well at launch. Perhaps not as well as the iPad — OK, certainly not as well as the iPad. But this is different idea, marketed in a different way, to a different audience. In fact, in many ways you can think of this as a beta launch. RIM will be adding more goodies to the PlayBook as the year progresses, so we can expect it to sell more at those points, too. Plus, we could hear about a GSM Curve Touch at BlackBerry World. That would be quite an announcement lineup, then, with both the Bold Touch and the Curve Touch. We’ll have to wait for the event, but the wait won’t be long.
