Pootermobile puts themes on sale for just 99 cents

by on June 27, 2012

Lately we’ve pretty much ditched theme reviews, which used to be a weekly or bi-weekly feature of BBGeeks. The reason was simple: after switching to an OS 6 device, it became apparent that themes didn’t make as much of a difference as they used to. In previous versions of the BlackBerry OS, a theme could change the overall functionality of the UI. The early OS 6 themes, though, essentially limited functionality. They’ve gotten better, in the past 18 or so months, but I’m still not sold on the necessity. Still, many people — perhaps a majority of BlackBerry users — are still on OS 5.0. For them themes are wonderful. And there’s a pretty solid sale going on at App World.

If you head over to the World of Pootermobile page, you’ll see that each of their themes is on sale for 99 cents. One of them, Flo is pretty new. It’s as basic as they get, so it will serve those who want a pretty stripped down BlackBerry experience. Other Pootermobile themes are a bit more complex and fit the BlackBerry user that wants more widgets and features. Their most popular is Fresco OS7, which is actually designed for OS 7.0 or higher. It’s actually pretty nice, since it plays right into the OS 7 natural design. Sure, it doesn’t make a ton of changes from the stock theme, but for 99 cents there are enough bells and whistles, including bright custom icons, to make this worth a shot. Again, head to the World of Pootermobile page at App World to see if any of these fit your device.
