Tips for Tuesday: Change and add fonts on your BlackBerry

by on February 14, 2012

By default, your BlackBerry uses the most basic of basic fonts. This makes sense. Plain, boring fonts don’t offend people, and so they’re used as the defaults for most products and services. Still, some people like to spice up their displays a bit. One easy way to do this is by changing the system font. Your BlackBerry comes with a number of fonts by default, so you can browse through them and find one that fits you. If not, there are applications that can help you out. Changing the font Changing the font is a pretty straight forward process. Just go into Options – Display – Screen Display. Right on top of the screen you’ll see the option to change the font face. Below that you can change the style, size, and smoothing, thereby creating a font that works well for you. There are a couple dozen fonts installed on your device, so chances are you’ll find something that works out for you. But if you can’t, there are other options. It would be quite the shame if there weren’t. Font apps If you want access to more fonts, you can check out the following font management apps: Font Control – Free
Font Master – Free
Font Manager – $2.99
Fonts Ultimate – Free Any of these will give you even more fonts. Most of them also have premium versions which give you even more. Install new font on your own A few weeks ago BerryReview ran abit on adding new fonts to your BlackBerry without using an app. Of course, there’s a big warning label on the post, noting that since you’re working with system folders you could, possibly, screw up your device. So approach this with caution. But it is an option for those interested.
