Take a look at our blogroll. Do a Google search for “BlackBerry blog.” You’ll notice tons and tons of them. Why so many blogs, then, devoted to one topic? Because we all approach it from different angles. This is nice for readers, who can pick the one that best fits their BlackBerry needs. Plus, since we tend to interlink, you can keep up with most others as well. It’s great for the bloggers, too. No one person can think of everything. I love reading the stable of BlackBerry blogs because it gives me ideas for BBGeeks posts, both directly and indirectly. Today’s is a direct influence, from Robb at RIMarkable, one of the good guys in the blogosphere. He has an excellent tip for quickly and easily sending contact information to any email address or BlackBerry user.
The procedure to send is pretty simple. Go to your address book and scroll to the contact whose information you wish to send. Click the menu button, then select Send As Attachment. You then enter the email address of the person to whom you want to send the contact information, and your BlackBerry will send it as a .vcf file. This is a pretty universal file type. On a PC, Outlook can open it, and on a Mac the Address Book application will open it. Check here for a list of applications which will open .vcf files. Sending to another BlackBerry user is even easier. Once the party receives the email with the .vcf attachment, he or she can open the attachment to view the contact information. Adding it takes just a few more clicks. Hit the menu button, then select Add to Contacts. Simple as that. You can also send contact information to one of your BBM contacts. Instead of selecting Send As Attachment in the first step above, select Send To Messenger Contact. You can then select from your contact list.
Send your BlackBerry contact information easily with vCards

Thanks for the shout out Joe. :)
How do you delete .vcf contacts received from a BBM contact?
@Kristin If the .vcf contains a picture then start there – it takes a very long time to delete so be patient. Once it is gone then the responsiveness should return.
I received a vcf file through BBM. I added the contact received, but tried to edit it to add other information. I cannot edit or delete it! Have I done something wrong? Thanks!
@Georgea Are you still having trouble deleting the info? Do a battery pull then try deleting the info right afterward. If it was sent with a picture try deleting that first. This can be a very sluggish process and can appear at times that nothing is happening.
Yea, i have the same problem.. My friend sent the contact threw bbm and now it wont let me delete or edit and i took the battery out and everything and they didnt even come with pictures and its starting to get on my nerves.
Any suggestions?
thanks!
@Kristin L It usually takes a few days for you to be able to delete the contacts that have sent info via vcards. I have no idea why exactly though.
