Remove uninstalled apps from BlackBerry App World

by on May 6, 2010

With both App World and the BBGeeks Superstore on my BlackBerry device, I blow through a lot of applications. Whether it’s something I’m trying for personal use, or an application we’re featuring on BBGeeks. I tend to uninstall plenty of applications. App World makes this nice and easy, allowing you to do it right from the My World section of the storefront. When I uninstall an app from App World, I tend to archive it rather than fully uninstalling. That way I can get it back quickly if need be. With some free apps, though, I go right for the uninstall. Problem is, the uninstalled apps still show up in My World. Thankfully, you can remove those icons pretty easily. The process couldn’t be easier. Once you have App World running and are in My World, hold down ALT and press the letters RST. Seriously, that’s it. App World will automatically exit. When you restart it, you won’t see any more of those uninstalled apps in My World. You can then go and fill it up with all new apps that you’ll eventually re-install. At least I will. Storm users have a bit different of a process to do this. When in My World hold the device in landscape mode and press the menu key. Then select show keyboard. You’ll hold down the !?123 button on the lower left corner for three seconds. Once you see the 123 indicator in the top right corner, press 34( . Apparently this will not work for a 9550 running OS 5.0.0.607. I’m not sure why, but that’s what I’m reading. Via BerryReview.

caps + rst worked for me. This article annoys the @#$% out of me. What the @#$% do you mean by “the process couldn’t be easier”. If that was the case, do you think you would have had to write this article?

This doesn’t work for the App World in Torch 9800 devices.

Any idea how to do this in app world 2.0? This doesn’t seem to work any more.

For the Storm 9550: !?123 (only push once each time, do not hold) 3 !?123 4 !?123 ( . Spaces are added here for clarity. Does not appear to work with App World 2.0.

Yep doesn’t work on Torch. Used to work on Bold.

None of the above work on my Curve

Reply

@Andrew Unfortunately this technique has been phased out in App world version 2 and above. No idea why.

Only a few of the apps that I have uninstalled from my world were still showing in the uninstalled list but I wanted them completely gone…. so I tried this… with no luck :( I went from having just a few to all 25 apps that Ive removed added back to the list. I cant get rid of any of them now! Any ideas?

Reply

Cooper December 2, 2010 at 1:34 pm

@simply me You can open up the memory card using mass storage mode and look for the folder with your computer. Delete the files in the uninstalled folder and they will be gone from the device next time you reboot.

Please help me. This option somehow doesn’t seem to work. I have a BB Curve 8520 version 4.6.1.272, running on OS 5.0.0.592

1. I have tried ALT and RST. What happens is it does exit BB App World and when i go back it appears that all my uninstalled apps have been removed form the list, but when the refresh has been complete, i still see these apps. What happens is i have uninstalled ALL my apps and still says i have 149.7 MB free from 250MB (but all have been uninstalled???)

2. I have also tried holding the caps button and then RST, but nothing happens.

3. I don’t have a num lock button, so i can’t try the !?123 button and then press 34.(or i’m not sure where i can find it)

What am I doing wrong?

I bought the app pocketyoga thru Vimukti Technologies. The are asking for my deviceID/pin number on my blackberry. No one else has asked for it. Is it save to give it to them?

Reply

@Debbie Yes it is safe to give them. No worries there.

Pressing and Holding alt rst Doesnt work for my Bb 9300 curve, What shall i do to remove that uninstalled icon, I dont want to see them.any Idea Guys? Your Reply is Highly appreciated.

Reply

Cooper February 10, 2011 at 10:30 am

@Elane Unfortunately they have disabled that little trick on the newer versions of Appworld =(

If you really want to delete them you need to mine your memory card and find the files (make sure to “show hidden files” when exploring the memory card).

it does work on 8520 curve but when uve pressed ALT+RST you have to take your battery out that way you phone will reboot and when it has you wont see the ininstalled apps :)

For newer app world, this doesn’t work .. But try this: reinstall (the uninstalled app), only then when downloading is on progress you press  then pause .. Press  again than cancel download .. And it is gone ..

If you want to clear My World from uninstalled apps just follow these instructions,it works completely, I did it and now I can recommend it to anyone with confidence! – 1. Reinstall (the uninstalled app), only then when downloading is on progress you press  then pause .. Press  again then cancel download , they will disappear immediately! Bonne chance!

Hi
there are several ways to delete uninstalled app list:
following is the sure shot one:

register new email ID on app world and list is gone. it will never come back

once you press ALT RST list again appears as this is synced with some webserver
