No, seriously. I can’t tell you how many people have come to me with BlackBerry problems, and how many of them have been solved simply by pulling the battery. Freeing up temporary memory and giving the ol’ ‘Berry a fresh start works wonders. You should probably be pulling your battery once a week, if you’re not already doing so more because of issues (I am).
Cooper reminds me that freeing up flash memory can do the trick, too. You can check out how to trim the fat from your BlackBerry, or you can start by deleting sample media files and your Internet cache.
Next time you’ve got an issue, do these before you call anyone. Not that we mind helping out. It’s just that many problems are this easy to fix.

Just out of interest, how frequently do people pull their battery due to berry hanging or other issues? I probably end up doing it once every couple of days.
In another great example of how these things are NOT designed for women with manicures, how would you remove the battery without using a fingernail?
@Ste9000:
Running 4.2.2.196 on VZW 8830, I do a battery pull approximately twice a week. I’m usually close to or at the “0 bytes free” by then due to the 4.2.x memory leak.
hello i have the new bb bold and when a put a pin authorization request the other person acepts me but his name still in my list like pending can you help me please?
Help! How do you correct error when goig to browser “ungaught exception. Invisible node cannot be made current”?
Why pull the battery out? Why not just reset it using a similar Ctl+alt+del command ;)

hi, my blackberry has always been working and i just took out the batter to put my sim card in and when i put back in the battery a battery came up on the screen with a red line through it and nothing happens, i have taken out the battery and put it back in and plugged it into the charger and its still on the screen.
I have had my black berry for 5 months with nothing but problems…What a piece of junk. I do not use the internet at all on my phone or download music and it freezes all the time, just gives people a busy signal when they call in, and sometimes when I take out the battery to fix this it won’t even turn on. It just blinks red! What a piece of crap! An expensive phone like this shouldn’t need reseting all the time.
I have a Blackberry Bold Smartphone.
When I was in a No Service area and requested a webpage in the browser. When it couldn’t connect, it prompted me to save the request until it could re-connect later. I accepted the offer and it placed a globe icon in the header. When I reached a service zone I connected again but the globe icon will not go away. How do I remove it?
Can you help?
Thank you
Nick, I’m going to write this up for tomorrow morning. Stay tuned!
My BB 8320 was working fine this morning. When I plugged the cable into the usb to sync, I had a “battery” error. The battery was at about 30%. In previous experiences, with the same icon, I removed the battery and put back in and all was OK. Nothing…….. same problem, even tried cleaning the contacts, including the mem chip. Tried a known working battery, same error.
please advise.
Scott, I really can’t think of anything except this being a device problem. If a known working battery produces the same result, I’d have to assume that it’s a problem with the battery connector on the device.
dude like my sister bought a blackberry off someone and yea like well it wont even work at all it just shows up a White screen with a symbol in the middle and the number 507<if that has any relivence.. but so whats the deal with that? can you write back asap?
@Zeph – your sisters BlackBerry has been wiped clean and will need a new Operating System installed. Read this post and follow the links contained within it to learn how to upgrade your OS and how to find the right one for your particular BlackBerry.

Hi
I have BB Curve 8310. It’s been very good to me until recently. All of a sudden it started going dead in the middle of a phone call.
If I pull the battery, it’ll reboot but even fully charged, its happening more and more frequently. Its at the point now where I can’t even expect to finish a call 50% of the time without it dying… no indication that its gonna die, no low battery warning… just dies and I have to plug it in or pull the battery and pop it back in again. (Incidentally, it works fine while plugged in and I can talk for an hour straight without it happening but when not plugged in, I expect it to crash now.
Is my battery near its life’s end or do I have a more serious hardware problem?
Thanks
Greg
Greg,
I’d try it out with a new battery before chalking it up to a hardware problem.
Hi i have had the blackberry pearl for 6wks and im o nmy 4th handset, the blackberry messenger doesnt seam to want to work, i can add contacts but it keeps saying im off line when i want to connect, thats as far as it goes any help?
HELLO,
HAVING PROBLEMS WITH MY BLACK. OCCASSIONALLY IT WOULD GO OFF AND RESET ITSELF THEN COMES A WHAT SEEMS TO APPEAR LIKE A FLASH PRELOADER WITH A NOTE SAYING VERIFYING SECURITY. THIS HAPENS 3 OR 4 TIMES A DAY. WHAT SPECIFIC SOFTWARE UPDATE DO I NEED TO INSTALL? SERVICE PACKS? DOWN AT THE BLACKBNERRY SITE.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ANYONE WHO CAN PROVIDE ASSISTANCE.
THANKS.
hi joe,
i have a blackberry 8300 and it always gives the incoming call out of reach but i can call all the contacs but they can’t it will give them my phine is turned off please help
I have a BB bold. For about 50% of the calls that i get from people in my contact list, the display only lists the number of the person calling and does not give me the persons name. Yet, when I go to my call list, the person’s name in listed. I have reformatted all of my numbers to the same (xxx-xxx-xxxx). This is my second BB Bold, same issue with the other and I was told it was a software issue and was given a new one. Others in my office have never had this problem. This issue is not consistent between certain calls either. One time it will show and the next it will not. Thanks for any help.
I have also tried the hard rest by taking the battery out while the phone is still on at the instruction of an ATT store employee but it did not solve the problem.
hi guys, for some reason my new blackberry wont let me make phonecalls, just says “call failed” all the time. I can receive calls and messages and send messages, but no calling. any idea what i could do? thanks!
Question!! Can I turn off my incoming calls on my bb curve while I’m watchin tv??? I’m sic of getting interrupted and then having to restart the episodes?
@booboo Go to Manage Connections icon and select Turn All Connections Off.
Why in the world does my phone keep telling me that the text I sent to a number was deleted? For example..Message to 8646172226 Deleted
hi, i was just wondering
my phones not charging anymore:S
and i noticed the allignment of where u put the charger in the phone is messed up..
does that mean i have to send the phone in to fix it? orrr… how much would that be to fix?
I have bold 9000 my media player and speaker phone cannot be played loud. The volume is maximum. But the sound cannot run very well. The sound is very slow.. Help me. Thx
Abi, if you don’t even see the lightning bolt icon on your battery meter when the charger is plugged in, then yes, you’ll have to have someone fix it. Otherwise, it could be the battery itself.
jo_jo, I really have no idea. Do you have a lot of free memory?
HELP, I just purchased a new laptop. I successfully installed my BB desktop software that is SO essential to my calendar, contacts and email operation. Upon connecting my handheld I immediately knew something was wrong because across the BB screen was the message:USB charging current is not sufficient. Verify that your handheld is connected. After trying to plug it in with an alternate cord, and at each of the 3 USBs, I still received the message. Upon trying to sync and configure the connection I repeatedly get the message that the handheld is not connected. HELP!!
Excellent advise. I was having a screen issue and was looking for answers from comments by others. Took the battery out for 5 seconds and when I put it back in – no screen issues.
Thank you.
i got my bb a month a go and every time i turn on the WI FI it starts rebooting.. and sometimes it takes hours to finally stop! can anyone please tell me how to fix this problem?
also, i deleted the email icon im not sure how. and iv been trying to get it back. any ideas?
Just did a battery pull on my BB Bold, and it is taking FOREVER to turn back on, will go to a white screen with a hour glass in it, then the light will go off and the red light will stay on, then go back off,and repeat… it has been doing so for about 12 mins now…what is wrong with it?
how i do i fix a phone that wont charge. its not my bat. or charger. it says charge for 2 seconds, then it stops charging….. can blackberry be fixed??
when dial i cant hear anything no ring but the call goes out they can hear my voice but cant hear not unless i use the speaker.
i have a blackberry curve 8310. it tells me several times a day that my sim card is rejected, or there is an error with it. i have had the sim card changed twice, and it’s still doing this. also, it will shut off and reset itself everytime i change my text tone. and sometimes it will shut off like that while im texting. what do i need to do?
What does the battery indicator with a line across mean in a blackberry Curve 8310?, do I need a new battery or have my BB serviced? it’s not the small battery indicator in the upper part of the screen this one takes up the whole screen
I got my phone to work I clean contacts both on battery and on the phone I used isopropyl alcohol. (we use it here at work.) Hope this helps anyone with same problem.
I switched carriers and phones so my Blackberry 8830 hasn’t been charged in a while. I might try to sell it so I plugged it in to charge again… the red light saying it’s charging came on for a minute, but then turned off and the screen went gray with a battery and lightning bolt through it. What does this mean?! Is the battery completely dead and needs to be replaced?
My blackberry wont charge, and is showing no signs of life!
The screen is black (off) and when i plug it into either the main plug socket or USB port, nothing happens.
It ran out of battery at the weekend so i charged it for 24 hours and there is no sign that it is charging. what should i do?!
how can i pull up You Tube on my Blackberry??
the trackball of my bb is not working right can go up or sideways but not down.
my blackberry 8310 curve went off randomly..now when i put the charger in the red light stays on for 10-20 seconds and then keeps going off..i tried using a usb cable..same problem..im really frustrated
how do i change my message tone? i have a blackberry flip 8220
i have a blackberry curve 8320 (i think) and i’ve been using the msn for months, although suddenly i’m not recieving any messages! they’re recieving mine, but i either recieve a few or none! my internet and facebook is fine, so its nothing to do with the connection. i then donwloaded the latest msn and it still didnt work.
i then tried (as i read it on a forum) going to advance options, service books, and then clicking on view, HRM, and register now, for each WLM there was.
it’s still not working, and now my interent says ‘unable to connect to the internet’!!! please help me!!!
I suggest giving it the ol battery Pull. Pull the battery out while the device is powered on – leave out for at least 30 seconds – pull your sim card out as well.
After 30 seconds pop the battery and sim card back in and your problem should be fixed.
oh an when i registered i got an e-mail saying ‘your handheld has been registered to the wireless network’…is that Wifi, cause i think i’m on the other type of internet where you can pick it up anywhere!??
That message means that your device has been registered with your carrier and you can now browse the web and use your data plan.
To be sure you are on wifi, look in the top right corner to see the wifi logo in white.
To set up your wifi connections go options > Wifi connections > change settings and save.
I just got a blackberry 8220 3 days ago, i can send and receive picture messages, and i can send sms mesages to anybody and itll go through, but when they try to reply it wont come through, my sister got the dash and it has no problems at all, any idea what the problem is or could be? Hi, I have the blackberry bold(not sure what the number is) but it is the black one with the leather battery cover. Anyways when I get into my browser i can select links and everything but i cannot select buttons(i.e the search button on google/youtube). It is debilitating but its agitating. I tried using enter but it still does not work. Thanks in advance. :)
Sounds odd Mitchell. The only thing I can recommend is looking into resending your Service Books and/or Host Routing Tables. Not sure that will do anything, but it’s worth a shot:

Hi! I need help!
I somehow changed my phone from normal colors to gray scale, on my Blackberry Bold 9000.
I don’t know how I got there, or how to fix it – please help!
Hi,
My reply command is not working. When i receive a message and i ask reply (or reply to all) it will not give me the option send afterwards. But if i receive the same message and I forward to the same person, it works !!!
Is that a setting problem ?
I tryed all possible options and did not fix it.
@Eduardo Sounds like just a glitch – try pulling the battery while the device is on – leave it out for 30 seconds and then replace.
hi BBgeeks. i seem to have a problem with my blackberry. every time i insert my simcard in the phone and switch on the phone, at the top of the screen it says ” please insert sim card” when i just inserted it. this always happens to me. what should i do? should i take my bb to the shop or something or should i just try fix it myself?
I have a blackberry bold, everytime i insert a media card( 2GB 4GB or 8GB), the phone gets weird,,, it will abt 5 to 6 times a day restart automatically and keep verifying. So i took the media card out and left it without one for a day, and no problems. a new media card or old, doesnt matter it does that. does any one know what this problem is??? I have even updated the firmware and it still does not help….
Help. My Blackberry Curve 8330 stopped taking calls! It doesn’t ring at all on my end or show a call log and callers trying to reach me only hear a dial tone. I’ve done the battery pull and updated the software to no avail. Any help out there?
Joe
Help…all of a sudden I can’t hear anyone calling me and they tell me it’s like I’m in a cave at their end…I have tried pulling the battery more than once. It won’t even work with my bluetooth headset…what can I do? thanks
@Norma Try calling yourself from another line and leaving a voicemail – then go in and check that voicemail and delete.
My phone keeps one deleteing my texts and my call. Ive taken out my battery and tryd everything, an it stil wont work
@Rogan Your BlackBerry is most likely running low on internal memory – read this post for ideas on how to free up some space

I dropped my BB I can not get it to power back on
I have tried pulling the batery any suggestions?
the red light is remaining on
Been using my BB 8900 Curve (Javelin) for some time now. Was making a call while the charger was plugged in. Dropped the call, place the phone on my bed where it continued charging, went to the bathroom, came back and the phone was dead, except for the red light that kept blink intermittently. Removed the battery for hours, put it back in, it was the same thing, phone doesn’t come on except for the blinking red light. Tried using the USB charger, same thing.
Any suggestions?
@Femi Sounds like you may need to wipe your device and reload the os. It may just be a nuked battery though so I would check that first. Bring it into a store and ask if you can swap the battery for a minute to see if it comes to life.
I have a blackberry 8320, recently it keeps deleting all my texts even though I have it on keeping texts ‘forever’, it also deletes my call list and sometimes my texts dont come in at all. what is happening? please help. It’s brand new
I have a 8310 Curve. Have had it for 16 months with no problem. REcently it started to turn off in a the middle of my converstaion, and i know it was charged over night. ATT changed the SIM, i have upgraded the software and still the same. Can someone tell me what could be causeing this
usb port is broken – is there any other way to charge the blackberry pearl?
My Blackberry Curve 8310 is frozen my ball moves but i cannot answer incoming calls or actually click into any of my items to read messages etc. None of the other buttons or the side camera button will work??? please help-
I suggest a battery pull for you as well – pull it out while the device is powered on and replace after 30 seconds
Hi I am new to the bb world and have a quetsion that I hope you can help me with. I have a bb curve 8330 and I can not receive calls when I am web browsing. Is there anything I can do so that I can receive calls when browsing?
@Denise unfortunately if your phone is in the process of sending/receiving data when a call comes through you will miss the call.
If you are just browsing the web and not actually transferring any data at that exact moment your call will come through.
This is a limitation of non-3G devices that can not handle voice and data at the same time.
My bb will only let me scroll up and down. No buttons work, not even the hard reset button. I cant answer calls, ect. Someone else had the same problem on here and i tried that advice with ZERO change.
Okay for some reason.. I can make calls and they connect but i can’t hear it even ringing.. is there something i can do.. i tried doing my connections that, started working but yet again went back to the same problem.. my phone is my lifeline and i need it all day HELP!!
Hello BB Geeks. Im new and ive got a serious problem with my BlackBerry. I was charging my phone when I picked it up to use it. Then the battery died out,out of no where! It’s had a black screen ever since! It wont turn on, it wont harge, and I dont know what to do! Please help me!
I bought a new Blackberry 8310 but on the second day it turned off suddenly and give a flashing red light on the upper right corner, few hours later it turned on then after around an hour it turned off again ????
Hello I just got the bb curve 8830 only had it for 3 days and i’m already having problems. it will turn off by itself in the middle of texting etc. and a red light come on then shuts off completly and i have to turn the power back on and then it takes a few mins to start up again this has been happening a few times a day..whats going on please help this is my first bb.
@kandie Is the phone new or is it a used model that you have purchased?
If the phone is new, I would suggest taking it in to the place you bought it and asking for a new one. Make sure and back up any contacts etc you have entered. You can back up your device using the desktop manager.
if the device is older it may just need to be refreshed. I would suggest updating the operating system etc.
my blackberry pearl 8120 has been erased of all its aplications and the desktop manager fails wen trying to restore them, can anybody help me plzzzzzzzzzzzz
Hi I have a BB Curve and the problem is when I plug it in the pc and for some reason it tells me it doesn’t reconice it, I try with anotere usb cord but it says the same thing.
Thanks :)
Hi,
I have a Javelin which I used since February this year. I worked great, until recently about a week ago, i left it at my sis place when I visited her. I got the phone back and the battery has been dead. It’s probably been dead for a week by now b/c it was low when i left it. And now, after i charged them it doesn’t want to start. What’s the issue? Is this something fixable or is it ruin already?
thanks.
my keypad and scroll ball wont work,i have messages coming in but i cant read them.the phone goes off a few mins after i reset.gave sum1 2 have a look but its still the same,he said he changed my keypads and wiped the memory.i cant access anything on my phone..not sure if it bcuz i downloaded d new BBM.I USE THE JAVELINPLEASE HELP ME
my roller ball does not roll downwards and now it shows me a message on the screen JUM Error 102 RESET and the bb does not come on.
When the system acts up or I was told to periodically pull the battery to reset, this has always worked, but Friday I did this and it wiped out all my calendar entries. I backed up in May, so I was able to get things back. Yesterday I was trying to change a calendar item and it gave me an error, so I pulled the battery…all my calendar items were gone. Can you please tell me why this is happening? Could I have a virus?
I have a Blackberry Bold that has been configured to Lotus Notes Server with synchronisation to Outlook Calendars and Contacts as Outlook is my default mail program. This is because 60% of our users are notes users. The problem I am having is that when synchronising It prompts to synch old information. BB also does not show as aconnec ted Mass storage DRive in My Computer.
Unfortunately I do not have much experience syncing with Lotus Notes so I can not be of too much help there. I suggest posting in some of the BlackBerry forums and you will most likely find someone who has dealt with that issue.
As for the mass storage issue – do you have your settings applied correctly?
menu – options – memory – enabl mass storage mode when connected (yes)
My wife is having problems with her BB curve, and she needs help. It turned off on her today and now it won’t turn back on, I tried pulling the battery but that didn’t work, it looks like it wants to turn back on but it doesn’t, by that I mean the key pad lights will turn on for a couple sec. then turn off again.
If it is caught in the reboot cycle there is not much you can do without wiping it.
Take the battery out and plug it into Desktop Manager – if the LED lights up that is a good indication that everything will be fine. Check out this post for info on wiping your device and reinstalling your OS.

Blackberry got left out in rain (really stupid), and took out battery to dry, no more condensation on screen, but buttons work only intermittantly.
I have a blackberry 8900 curve. Lately it my screen keeps turning white with a message :reload software 552. I have been backing it up on the desk top manager but it never saves my phone book or calender. Why does it keep doing this for no reason and how can I fix it without having to reload and re- add all the programs and phone book, etc.
I just got the blackberry curve 8310 today and when it had a rly low battery and died it would no longer accept phone calls. How do I change it so that it will accept phone calls when it dies?
Jan – give it 24 to 48 hours to dry.
Cheyenne – that’s the way the BlackBerry works. When the battery gets too low the radio turns off so you can use the phone. If the radio stayed on, the battery would completely die very quickly.
You can check out ForceRadioOn, a free app that turns your radio back on. But your battery will not last long.
When I try to open attachment I get a question mark. there is no command in menu that enables me to download or open a mail. Please help. Regards John
Ive been having this strange problem lately,,it started when i charged my battery and it wasnt charging the whole night,,the next thing i did is that i bought a new battery ,it worked only for the first day then again i was charging the phone and it wasnt charging ( i even used my sister’s charger)..so i took the battery and the sim card for one whole day and again it didnt work. today i tried opening it and it did open but another problem popped out , ‘orginizing call logs’ was there the whole time and the screen was frozen i cant do anything wth it ,and i tried pulling out the battery and all of the above but nothing changed. PLEASE TELL ME WHT TO DO. THANK U!!
I have a Blackberry Pearl and I dropped it on Monday. I then realized that my radio will not stay on anymore. When I go to the connections screen and turn it back on, it will only stay on for about 30 seconds. It shows the arrows sending and receiving, and then it turns the signal to “OFF”. Any suggestions? I can get SMS messages, but only after I have turned it on and before it shut’s the signal off. It will even hang up in the middle of a phone call. I have tried upgrading the software, as well as a system wipe, and naturally, i have tried the battery trick. I feel lost and dead inside without my phone. Please help :)
Sounds like you may have bumped something on the inside and loosened a connection. I would suggest taking it in to have it serviced if it is still under warranty.
Howie, you’re probably filling your memory to capacity. Check out this post to help:

My blackberry 8310 curve keeps clearing my call log and my sms how do I stop it
bb 8130 will not stay connected, when i answer a call it immediately reboots.
my phone has no rpoblems turning on, it’s fully charged however, the connect stays on for 15 seconds and then shuts off, i have to ke manually connecting it, but again, 15seconds max and it shuts off, i’ve tried taking the battery out 6 times now and nothing…. Any suggestions??
thanks
last night my phone fell off my bed and it turned itself off. when i turned it back on it came up with a battery with a red line through it and will not turn on. i have taken my battery out and put it back in and also left it on charge but still it does the same thing. pleeease help!
You will likely have to wipe your device. The first thing I would check however is putting a different battery in your device. It may just be a case of a dead battery (this happened on my Bold) and a new battery fixed it.
I got a virus on my laptop and the same applications go to my BB is it possible I have the virus on my phone and if so how can I fix it.
I was trying to download the desktop manager to my laptop when i disconnected my phone from the usb port my phone displays on the screen a battery with a red line through it. I cant turn my phone off or on…
@trena You are going to have to reload your os – take the battery out of your phone and plug it into Desktop Manager – it should recognize it — upgrade the os through desktop manager and you should be up and running again.
Be sure to do regular backups so you are protected in case this happens again.
Thanks for the heads up ..I took the battery out and my ringer came back On my Tour YEAH!!! i just got it and I was afraid it was toast already.
Hi, my curve 8310 has recently been ‘nuked,’ like on a permanent reboot. occasionally the image of a battery with a lightning bolt will appear. i upgraded to a Bold, but all my numbers are still on my curve. is there anyway i can perform a back up while my curve is in its ‘nuked’ state? your help would be greatly appreciated!
sir

Help…
I was in a bb msgr conversation when my keyboard locked up on my 8330. I did the standard battery removal and the verifying security software gets to about 55% then locks. I have removed the battery about 6 times, the last time for a about 30 minutes, still no luck. I called my provider but they are on vacation today. any advice would be great. Thanks
ok so my blackberry has a different problem that the battery pull cant help with. the buttons dont work and it just randomly turns off. it also dosnt let me answer my calls.
If you have a memory card inserted into your device try removing it and doing a battery pull. If you see that it starts functioning properly without the memory card, reformat the card and then insert it again.
Sometimes a corrupt file or card itself can cause those errors.
I have a 8130 bb pearl, I inserted a 4GB memory card, how do I send applications, pictures, “stuff” to it? I’ve tried formatting, saving. What am I doing wrong?
when using facebook through the internet chat does not appear? Sould it?
on 8900 using facebook through the internet chat is not visible? should it be?
2 things (1) my my faves icon will not appear and ive done everything frm cost service to batt pull but they sau that wen i make a call that is frm my faves tht it still comes up on the bill as a my faves call i just cant see the icon on my phone
(2) wat does it mean we the blackberry 8900 is off but red light is flashin an it wont turn on
I woke up a few days ago and my app icons were completely missing off of my blackberry curve 8310′s screen. As well as I no longer had an option of any type of menu. When I hit the menu key my screen just stays blank. Can someone tell me how tho fix this problem, any suggestions?!
@Amanda Try a battery pull while the device is powered on. Replace after 30 seconds and all should be good again. Let me know if that solves the problem for you.
Bought my curve less than 2 months. the pressure switch under the track ball is pressing by itself. Thought it was the track ball but after removing it it still was pressing by itself. This does not happen all the time but often. Always have to keep it locked. Is it a bug? is the phone defective?
Do a battery pull – usually resolves phantom trackball issues
I have a Blackberry Curve 8330. My battery was half way used so I decided to plug it into the charger. Right when I plugged it in, the screen went to a white screen with a no/low battery sign on it. I’ve tried charging it but it hasn’t worked. It still stays on that screen. I tried putting in a new battery but it continues to stay on that screen. Something’s wrong with my phone but I don’t know what to do? Any ideas?
i just got my curve 8320 and all calls i make say calls failed?! tried battery pull with phone off, and with phone on. any other choices?
thanks for ur help.
so its been 1 year since ive had the blackberry curve 8330 and for some reason everytime i restart or reset my phone by having a battery pull or whatever my bbm contacts get erased and i have to re add my friends all over. a message comes up saying “you’ve switched to a new phone, will you notify your friends..” something along those lines help me please ?! someone suggested that it might be a memory problem cos its not used to reseting or something.
How much available memory do you have? If it does go too low it can cause major issues.
Try disabling content protection in your security settings. Some folks have cited this as a solution to your BBM deletion issues.

hi, I have a bb storm and its nuked and I can’t seem to get it to reboot do you have any idea as to how I would do it?
p.s. I’ve tried the crackberry website and it didn’t help so I hope you can.
does anyone know how to fix my nuked BB storm?
I’ve tried doing the crackberry’s way but it doesn’t work.
Have a bb curve 8330. Recently i noticed a small globe with a 1 just right of center screen on the phone. Anyone know what this is??
I woke up this morning and my Bl;ackberry Curve is showing GMS instead of GPRS? I can not access the internet, MSN Messenger, Blackberry Messenger, basically I can just ring out and text.I have pulled the battery, I have tried to resent the Host routing table which is just saying:message queued it will be sent once data coverage is available. I have looked at browser settings? I have contacted orange my provider and they advised it has gone to the hig technical team but I could be without services for 2days or more! I can not wait that long!Help please
That definitely sounds like an issue with your carrier – they are experiencing network issues which are trickling down to your phone. Not much you can do until they get back to you.
My friend just got the bold from her father. She transfered over her contacts and BBM contacts properly from her Curve but for some reason when we msg (BBM) each other she only recieves my msg’s (BBM’s)when she sends me one. In turn my BBM’s are only delivering to her and being read when she sends me a msg.
Guys,
Basically, my BB Curve 8900 was on my desk next to my computer about half battery charged, went away for a few hours. When I came back couldn’t turn it on, so plugged it in to the wall to charge.
A Red light comes on for about 10 seconds, then a white screen with a Battery symbol with a blue Bolt across it. What should I do?
I don’t want to reinstall the OS, because presumably that might erase all my contacts, and I haven’t done a back up yet.
Any ideas?
I got a Blackberry Curve 8310 when i put the battery in the screen keeps flashing blank white and the red led light keeps flashing at the same time to to fix from please..many thanks

I have a blackberry 8320 i dropped my phone and it came apart i was able to put it back together except for one major problem. The little latch door that holds my sim card fell out and no longer clicks to secure my sim card. I tried to put it back into its slot but it is detached completely from the phone. I get a sim card error every time now.
I have the blackberry bold 9000. I exhausted the number of attempts to put the password in and wiped it, after wiping it, it went black and now when i plug the charger in all that i see is a steady red light and then a battery with a lightning bolt through it and then switches back to the red light and so on, so after unplugging it it simply doesn’t turn on, help? thnx.

Will not read my sd card now! The photos are still on the sd I inserted in my computer but the BB won’t load it. Where did all my stuff go? Do I have a virus or just a fried BB?
@Brandy – that sounds like a corrupted memory card – try reformatting it and putting it in your BB again.
If that does not work – let me know in the comments and I will dig a bit deeper.

Definitely resend your service books and register your HRT – here is a post that tells you how:

MY BLACKBERRY CURVE HAS A WHITE SCREEN HOW DO FIX IT? I’VE TRYED PULLIN THE BATTERY BUT IT DOESNT WORK.
@jay Unfortunately your device has been corrupted in some way. You will have to wipe your BlackBerry and start from scratch.
Here is a post that should help you out:

Hi. I have a curve 8300 and I was wondering if there is any way to view message history in yahoo messenger from a deleted conversation with someone that is not programmed as a contact. (I know just to press bb button and view history on the senders profile, but being a cleared conversation from a non-contact, I do not have that option). Also, is there ANY way to view deleted browsing history? Thank you=]
I do not believe so – once you have deleted the conversation it is gone. If anyone has some further insight into this, please do share.
Hi. I bought my Curve 8900 about a month ago..it’s been working properly until 3 days ago..it gets dead all of a sudden during a call & then restarts by itself although it’s not battery low or anything..it did that 5 times a day. please help.
I got my blackberry curve wet and it is trying to turn on on its own, but only lights up for a split second and then shuts off. As soon as it got wet, I pulled the battery out as well as the roll bar and put in under a blow dryer. Is there anything I can do rather than just going to the store for them to tell me I need to purchase a new phone.
Absolutely – grab yourself some rice from the grocery store and put it in a small bucket – stick your BlackBerry in the rice for a couple of days and it will wick out and extra moisture that is inside the device.
I can not promise that your device is not already corrupted but this is the most effective way to dry out a wet BlackBerry. Also – DO NOT try turning it on for a full 2 days at least – no matter how tempting it may be to try it out – just leave it in the rice .
About a week ago the message alert and ringtone sounds stopped working on my Storm, although the audio on phone calls was OK. Also, I could only listen to music with earbuds. I always do the battery pop reboot, and I also confirmed that my sound levels are on their proper setting. A couple of days ago the sounds returned, but are gone again (and yes, I pop the battery frequently). Any suggestions? Much appreciated!
i need help my phone died and it wont charge i connect it and the red LED light goes on but nothing happens. what can it be some one help!!
iv just got my blackberry been using it about a week and the battery ran out completely for the first time. now when i try to charge it up it wont! i have tried through the usb and wall socket. the red light appears and after a few minutes a white screen appears saying generateNvFlashBlock failed due to a critical error followed by a reset option which doesnt do anything but repeat the same cycle. what does this mean? i tried somebody elses battery and it turned on fine. i dont know if there is an issue with the phones ability to charge itself or if its the case of a dead battery? (even though its been only used about a week) could you please help, it would be greatly appreciated
@Chris Barnes
That definitely sounds like a dead battery to me. If the battery is less than a year old then it is covered under warranty. I suggest taking it in for a replacement. If it is older than a year you will need to go grab one from the store.
im having a problem with my blackberry it wont fully turn on the loading symbol would come on and then it would go away i would get another it looks like a web page with a circle and a line going thru it and on the bottom it says reload software 552 its been doing the same thing i tired to take the battery out and nothing changes
@richard
You have somehow managed to corrupt the Operating System (maybe you did nothing – the OS sometimes goes on it’s own).
Here is a post that will help you reinstall the OS and get back up and running:
http://www.bbgeeks.com/blackberry-guides/step-by-step-guide-to-upgrading-your-blackberry-os-88196/
i have a black berry curve and for some strange reason i can not make or recieve any calls and the signal network is full.
can any one help plz????
@bob – not sure exactly what is happening there. I suggest that you resend your service books and HRT.

http://www.bbgeeks.com/quick-tips/what-to-do-if-you-see-no-message-services-configured-881236/
If that does not work then reloading the Operating System should set everything back to normal:
http://www.bbgeeks.com/blackberry-guides/step-by-step-guide-to-upgrading-your-blackberry-os-88196/
Have BB Tour what does white screen with battery symbol and blue lightening bolt mean? The phone is only 2 months old.
That icon means your battery is completely drained and you will need to plug it in for an extended period to build up the charge again. I suggest using the wall charger as it seems to be a bit quicker.
same thing happend to me as connie does anyone no what to do
@connie @Pattiy You both need to reload your Operating System. Here is a post that will help you out:
http://www.bbgeeks.com/blackberry-guides/step-by-step-guide-to-upgrading-your-blackberry-os-88196/
I have a blackberry curve 8310 and i am having a problem with the messages inbox showing the contact that sent the message. in the inbox it shows a ph # with the 1 at the beginning (ex. 1 318 995-4567). i need it to stop displaying the 1. when i have a incoming call, it does not display the 1, so i cannot change all my contacts with the 1 in fromt, b/c then they are not recognized with a incoming call. and right now, they are not recognized on a incoming message. how can i make the 1 stop displaying before an incoming text message contact, so that my contacts can be recognized on incoming text messages and incoming phone calls?
On the BlackBerry, go into the Phone application (or hit the Green Call button), then hit the Menu button (button to the LEFT of the trackball) and select Options –> Smart Dialing. Scroll down to Area Code: and enter your area code there.
Hit [Esc] (or [Back] button – button to the RIGHT of the trackball) and select Save. Hit [Esc] again to return to the Home screen.
Try setting the connection method on both applications to “Direct/ TCP” also, ensure that you have set all the permissions for each application properly.
i have bb 8310 and everytime i make a phone call it dies or when i use any other aplication but messaging i dont know what to do pleaseee help me out
@jeremy
Sounds like you are having battery issues – you may need to get a new battery but try reading these posts first:
http://www.bbgeeks.com/blackberry-guides/saving-your-blackberry-battery-life-88495/
http://www.bbgeeks.com/quick-tips/automatically-turn-off-your-blackberry-to-save-battery-882674/
i have bb pearl and yesterday i was using it and it was all fine but at one point it just froze so i pulled the battery and turn it on again after and it was fine but after 10 minutes it shut down by itself and now its off but there is the red light flashing i dont get it
@El
It appears as if your OS has been corrupted somehow. I suggest reloading your OS and backing up from the most recent Desktop manager backup you have done:
http://www.bbgeeks.com/blackberry-guides/step-by-step-guide-to-upgrading-your-blackberry-os-88196/
My blackberry will not turn on but the red light is flashing. I wasn’t getting emails so I took out my battery. When I put it back in, it only flashes a red light. The screen is black. What did I do? How can I fix?? I left the battery out all night and still nothing. Please help!
@Sara
Unfortunately you have managed to corrupt the operating system on your device. You will need to reload the OS and start from scratch. The good news is that your hardware should be perfectly fine and therefore this fix will not cost you any cash.
Here is a post that has instructions on how to complete the OS update:
http://www.bbgeeks.com/blackberry-guides/guide-to-wiping-your-blackberry-88202/
http://www.bbgeeks.com/blackberry-guides/step-by-step-guide-to-upgrading-your-blackberry-os-88196/
I just got a curve 8330, after one day of using it the red light will not go off. I’ve tried updating the software via blackberry desktop manager and that doesn’t make it go off. The red light still flashes when I receive new messages however after I check them it stays solid. Do you know what the prob could be?? Thanks!
@Lynne Have you installed any kind of messaging apps etc? These can sometimes take over your LED if so check your settings.
Otherwise, I suggest doing a long battery pull – remove the battery while powered on and replace after 3 or four minutes.
I have a Blackberry 8900, and the keypad has stopped working. The roller ball rolls but does not select when depressed. I have a replacement handset being sent to me. My problem is I need to back-up my information. I have the software and the cable but when I try to sync the device it asks me on the phone to accept the mass storage mode, which I cannot do as I cannot select on the keypad. I am lost without my information! Is there anyway of bypassing that stage so my computer can pull the information off. None of my information is on the sim either, grrr! Please help
@David Kennett
You do not need to use the mass storage function in order to backup your BlackBerry. That function is to allow you to get to all of your media files on your BlackBerry.
You can ignore that prompt and continue with a backup of all your contacts and data using BlackBerry desktop manager. Once you have that done you can check out some tutorials online to show you how to replace / clean your 8900 trackball. Here is one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WBwvqFm8HbQ
If the videos and pics on your phone are absolutely worth keeping then I suggest buying a replacement trackball unit from http://www.cnn.cn
they are cheap and will work fine to get the initial device back up and running.
Thanks for your post, however the desktop manager does not give me the option to perform a back-up and I am sure that is because it is not connecting with the phone.
Thank you Cooper, you saved the day. It worked! i also, noticed when I was under smart dialing that the “national number length” said “11″, so i changed that to “10″ too. thanks!
My BB Storm 2 keeps dropping calls, and it’s not because of weak signals. A message “call failed” will appear. I am really frustrated. What is the solution to it?
@marvin This is pretty common with a number of Storm 2 owners. I suggest upgrading your firmware to the latest available.
You can find them here:
http://www.blackberryos.com/forums/downloads.php?do=cat&id=16
I have an 8700g (I know, I know…) I have a white screen and in the middle of it is a battery symbol with a red line through it. Any suggestions? I have tried a battery pull multiple times with varying lengths of ‘pulled’ time. Thanks!
@jeremyH
You either have a corrupted OS or a dead battery. First try taking the device into the store and seeing if you can boot up with a replacement battery.
If you can not then I suggest wiping your device OS and starting with a fresh install.
my blackberry back piece wont lock onto the phone
sorry. i forgot my manners!! good evening everyone. please someone help me
this did nothing i still cant open my battery thing
what does blackberry handheld registered with wireless network mean.
@mark That message is received when your device is registered on the wireless network you signed up for as a BlackBerry provider.
It is just letting you know that the device is registered and your messaging should be fully functional at that point.
i got a text saying the above and im confused
What does a little facebook symbol with a 1 next to it mean?.. Its been at the top of my bb bold 2 for a while now and i dont know how to get it off!!.. help.
my blackberry 8830 will not turn on the screen reads jvm error 513 how do i fix it
I just got a Blackberry Curve… it lets me text, I ran the setup wizard. My problem is when I make or recieve calls the phone dies… the battery is fully charged… HELP!!!!
Thanks cooper. I will try that though I doubt it will work as the firmware does not seem to include an update on this malfunction. Will let you know.
I just purchased a blackberry storm on e-bay. I have at&t as my carrier. The phone is unlocked. It will pick up a at&t signal for a few seconds and then it will loose signal. It randomly comes on for a second then shuts off again. Is there a problem with my antenna or is there something that I can do without sending the phone into the shop? Your help will be greatly appreciated
@Ed
This definitely sounds like a hardware issue but there are a couple things you can do to troubleshoot it before a physical repair.
1) Resend your Service Books and Register your HRT again (read here):
http://www.bbgeeks.com/quick-tips/what-is-a-service-book-what-is-a-host-routing-table-881448/
2) Wipe your device and reinstall the latest os for the Storm (read here):
http://www.bbgeeks.com/blackberry-guides/step-by-step-guide-to-upgrading-your-blackberry-os-88196/
If the problem persists you may in fact have some faulty hardware that needs to be checked out.
I have 2 blackberry curves 8330 for my husband and i.
One suddenly stopped charging. It shows the charge icon, but even after overnite charging, it says battery dead. I have been charging the batteries in my phone and giving it to him so he can use his.
So that rules out the batteries or chargers being faulty.
So a week of this battery switching goes by and now sometimes it reads “battery drained”, even though its the fresh battery from my phone.
Please advise.
@Tara It sounds like the usb port on your husbands 8330 is faulty. I would bring it in for a replacement.
I’m having the same problem for the 3rd time with 3 different Blackberry Curves in 6 weeks. The phone has worked for a while, then suddenly all buttons stop working. Calls come in (I see and hear the incoming call), SMS messages are received (I hear the sound), but I can’t do anything because the phone doesn’t respond to any button. This is the 3rd different Curve this has happened on in 6 weeks for me! Any ideas? Could it be my battery somehow (same battery all the time)? Has this been a common problem with the Curve?
@Steve I am not sure that your battery is causing the problem but to be sure you can buy a new one and test the theory. It sounds more like an OS issue. That being said – try a battery pull next time it happens – pull while the BlackBerry is on and replace after 30 seconds.
It does appear that many people have this issue and it is related to moisture damage but that does not explain how it has happened on 3 different devices.
Try the new battery and battery pull suggestions and let us know if that helped.
The other day i was visiting a friends house and I let my black berry pearl just completly die. Didnt charge is or turn it off at all (i mainly turn it off when it comes close to dieing.) And now that im back home it seems to not be charging..I’ve had it sitting on the charger for an hour and NOTHING at all has happend. Does it just need more time to charge? or would i have to get a new battery for my phone?
@Jacob
I would let it charge overnight while plugged into the wall. If you do not see anything by the morning then you may need a new battery.
It turns out all i have to do was repeatedly beat the crap out of it till it worked.
I have a Blackberry Storm and the screen is blank. I upgraded and it is still blank. It comes on but does not boot. I have removed the battery and the red led comes on and goes out. The service person said the screen is bad. It receives call fine with my bluetooth system in my car. Thanks
i dropped my bb storm and now it doesnt do anythin. no blinking red light. doesnt charge. what could the problem be? or do i just need a new phone? please email me if u know how to fix it.. skate4l1fe@yahoo.com
Hi. My blackberry 8900 just stopped working out of nowhere. Left the house in the am with a full battery and by 1:30 it was gone and I hadent used the phone all day. I charged the phone @ home and in my truck and it still died. Now when I try to charge it, the battery and phone get very warm. I went to a T Mobile Store to swap batteries and the only thing they said was that it was the phone. At one point the only thing i could see on my screen was a battery with a thunderbolt on it. It wont charge, they wouldn’t replace my battery and now Im phoneless… Help!
Hello ! I am new to BB & so far (fingers crossed) am happy ! I cannot work out how to make the phone ring for more that 2 rings before the voicemail gets it !! I have a BB curve can anyone help me out with this please?
@Kitty you have to contact your carrier and ask them to extend the ring time for your BlackBerry.
I changed the color settings on my Blackberry Pearl Flip. It now displays everything with a black background and white text. I seriously can’t figure out how to change it back to a normal blackberry display.
@Rupert pretty sure those settings are part of a custom theme you are using – look into the theme settings and see if I am right.
I HAVE A BB 8900. AT FIRST I STARTED SEEING IT TYPE LETTERS ITSELF THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE KEYPADS NOT WORKING AND I JUST HAVE THE PHONE 2 MONTHS NOW, WHAT SHOULD I DO?
@kimberly definitely pull the battery whenever the BlackBerry starts acting like this – it is a common glitch and easily resolved.
i have inserted a media card in my bb 8220 and it says “media card inserted” but when i go to media it shows nothing in pictures, videos, music, ringtones… HELP!!!!!!!!
be sure that you have properly formatted the media card – does any media show up when you read the card from your computer?
My blackberry 8900 crashed few days ago, none of my buttons are responding and i can still receive calls and messages. I havent dropped it an any liquid or anything and i pulled my battery out plenty of time. How do i fix this problem???
Sounds like you may need to reload your os =(
Not a hard thing to do but a pain none the less. If you can connect to Desktop Manager then definitely back up all your data and contacts before wiping the device.
Somebody was messing with my blackberry 8900 and now when I’m typing a text it shows EN in the top right corner of my screen. I’ve pulled my battery and done a reset. How can I turn this off?
@Garner Try this
Go to Options, Language
Go down to “Language ID:” and switch it to “Hide”
It takes forever to load. When I get a new message it take 3-5 minutes to acctually load the message, another 3-5 to be able to reply, and again 3-5 minutes to send. Once it sends it freezes on an empty place where a text should be until my phone buzzes. Then it seams to wake up, and remember it should be working. This makes it very challenging to text more then 1 person at a time.
@name I suggest doing a battery pull when the device starts slowing down like that. Also check to see that you have a decent amount of memory free.
The device could be running slow for a number of reason. A third thing to check on is any apps running in the background that could be using up system resources.
hello all! i own a verizon BB 8830, got it as a gift from my gf. i am in aruba, and had it unlocked and been using it via gsm for almost a year on prepaid plan for blackberry from digicel on Aruba. since 3 days ago my plan ran out so i had to reactivate, but suddenly the BB will not let me send out the request message, when i try to dial it, it calls the number instead of sending out the request. does this for everything having to send request, for checking my balance, even for topping up the phone, it does not send the request, instead i dials the number i send out as request! i tried checking with digicel customer service, they have no solution. Verizon will do nothing due that they say i have to be a active client of theirs, which is impossible since verizon does not cover our island!!! has someone had similar issues?? or can someone help??? please email me at jairovtromp—gmail.com will appreciate the help!
I have the Blackberry Pearl 8100. When I answer and incoming call, the first few seconds are on speaker phone. How can I make that stop? Thanks for your help!
@melissa This should absolutely be fixed by doing a battery pull. Note that it may take a couple pulls in a row to get your Pearl answering without the speakerphone.
I inserted a new SD memory card on my javelin but it turns out it doesn’t recognize the mp3 files. I pulled out the battery but it doesn’t work. I really need help for this, like music is my life. I’m really grateful if you help me. Thx
@Rika – make sure your memory card is formatted properly for the BlackBerry and make sure the mp3 files you are trying to add do not have any kind of DRM attached to them (ie iTunes)
Try loading the songs on via drag and drop (mass storage mode) or via desktop manager.
Good luck.
Hi, i’ve had my blackberry forever and its worked great but i recently replaced its housing to fix how it looked cosmetically and after that when i got calls i couldnt hear the people on the other side, but the speaker worked, now the speaker doesnt work either. I was using it yesterday and i accidentally dropped it and it wouldnt come back on. i tried pulling the battery out and putting it back several times but that didnt make a difference, i also charged it but that didnt do much either, what do i need to do?
@jo unfortunately it looks lik you have damaged a connection or two in your hardware.
to be sure you can try wiping your device and reloading the latest os available. If the problems persist then it is probably a hardware issue.
Being that you changed housing etc you have definitely voided your warranty.
I have a blackberry 8310 and for some reason every time i click the alt, z, v, b, $, and the arrow key it ends up typing “b$”. How can I fix this?
@Cindy this sounds like a glitch – try doing a battery pull while the device is still on and replace after 30 seconds to see if it clears up the issue.
hi, i just upgraded my bb bold 9000 but fatal error occur. How do i solve the problem? I did try manay times but never worked
@ikhwan You will have to start over from scratch – wipe your BlackBerry and reload the OS.
having serval problems with my Blackberry Curve, I have had it for 3 months….. i took some pics went to upload them to facebook, kept getting errors, would not work, tried to sync it to the computer, will not sync, then the pics were gone, the berry also will freeze alot, and i do not hear my phone when it rings, or if i get a message, i will see a red light blinking and know that i had missed someone….so what do i need to do??
hi, i ve just got a bb 9630 tour and it fell into water but it has refused to come up pls help
@dolapo You need to follow these instructions for the best chance at recovering your BlackBerry;
http://www.bbgeeks.com/quick-tips/what-to-do-if-your-blackberry-gets-wet-88693/comment-page-4/#comment-18692
I bought a BB 8310 and no matter what I do it will power off after a few minute of me using it…..have any idea what’s wrong?
Last night my bb storm locked stopped working so i removed the battery. Now it won’t work. It keeps trying to start up but the clock keeps going around and after a few moments it will say jump start reset and start all over again. What do i do?
@tita Looks like you are going to have to reload your operating system. Do this through desktop manager.
First connect the device to your pc and see if it recognizes it. If it does I suggest doing a backup of all of your contacts at this point so you can recover them after the os reload.
my app icons are completely missing off of my blackberry curve 8310’s screen. As well as I no longer had an option of any type of menu. When I hit the menu key my screen just stays blank. Can someone tell me how tho fix this problem, any suggestions?!’
I tries a battery pull and reseting it with alt+capps+delt. but nothing works! Please help
@olivia The first thing I would do is remove your memory card if you have one and then reboot.
Still not working? check your free memory and make sure you have a good amount free. Your phone will glitch out when it runs low on system memory.

i am trying to install an upgrade on my blackberry tour and it has been going for over 12 hours now. it has said it is at 100% for over 4 hours and it isnt doing anything…can someone help me please
@snthompson Are you doing an OTA update or through desktop manager?
i have a BlackBerry8310 and i wanted to know how to remove the SIM card.
@Brian G https://www.wireless.att.com/support_static_files/KB/KB84960.html Check out that post on AT&Ts site with diagrams of how to remove your sim card from the 8310.
hi, I’m from brazil, and I heard about you guys are really good on it!
So I gave to my sister a blackberry curve 8900, so I decided to plug it into the charger. Right when I plugged it in, the screen went to a white screen with a no/low battery sign on it. I’ve tried charging it but it hasn’t worked. It still stays on that screen. Something’s wrong with my phone? you think? I don’t know what to do?
A Red light comes on for about 10 seconds, then a white screen with a Battery symbol with a blue Bolt across it. What should I do? Any suggestions? I didn’t found any suggestions or idea about, I only found lot people with the same problem!
thankss any wayss! is is possible to send me a email with the answer , suggestions or ideas! I will be glad!
my email is clafranck@hotmail.com
thankss!
@Clara Frank Gondim
I suggest leaving the phone plugged into a wall charger overnight to see if it powers up.
If not the plug it into the usb port on the back of your computer and leave it for a couple hours – afterward remove the battery and replace after 2-3 minutes. If the phone boots up leave it charging until it reaches 100%.
In the event that neither of these things works I suggest taking the phone into a dealer and asking if you could try one of their batteries – your battery may be defective.
If no battery works then you can try reinstalling the operating system using Desktop Manager and starting again from scratch.
I have a Blackberry 8900 that has 5 text messages in my inbox that will not delete no matter what I do. I’ve pulled the battery, sim card, memory card…nothing makes them go away. They are not even saved messages. Help please.
@Stephanie – If you are using a custom theme that you downloaded I suggest switching back to the default theme – pulling the battery and switching back to your custom theme upon reboot.
Sometimes themes get hung up and this notification does not update properly.
When I plug my curve in, the power turns off and a red light comes on, I’m not sure how it works but randomly pulling the battery let’s me restart my phone, what causes this?
@stephen – do you have a decent amount of free memory on your device? low memory can cause this to happen.
my rollerball broke on my BB Curve 8330 and I can’t access any info BB and ended up getting a new phone. Before I recycle I want to wipe my info clean. Is there a way to do this on the desktop manager?

Hi, my blackberry 8330 hada low battery last night, i plugged the charger into my computer overnight, and this morning it wouldn’t turn on. No wit is either showing the battery with the lightning bolt through it, or nothing at all. Anything i can do?

hi my husband gave me his blackberry and i now live in spain and cant get it to work with another sim card it is unlocked but still shows sos calls only please help
I have a Blackberry 8310 that is completely unresponsive. I am still receiving messages and calls, however, my buttons do not function and I am not able to do anything. I have tried pulling the battery multiple times and have even let it sit for a few hours without the battery. Please help!!
@Daniel – does it respond when plugged into a usb port? If so I suggest wiping the device and updating the os to bring it back to default.
My daughter has a blackberry curve that got wet about 6 weeks back. We dried it and it worked fine after that. The other night though, it all of a sudden completely died. The Sprint tech said it’s bec something got corroded inside. Is that true and promptly sold us insurance coverage for it. Is that true though? Isn’t there any way to fix it? It won’t power up right now and the battery is fine (I tried it on another BB), I’ve taken the battery and the mem card out and it still won’t power up? Appreciate your help.
@jennifer It is quite possible that corrosion is the cause of the problem. In the future if any of your electronics get wet simply submerge them in a bucket of rice. The rice will absorb all moisture from inside the device and most importantly from off the components. When you turned it on you essentially ran a current through a wet circuit (potentially).
Check out this post on recovering a nuked BlackBerry:
http://www.blackberryos.com/forums/blackberry-how-guides/6175-how-recover-nuked-blackberry-pictures.html
If that does not work then you have most definitely ruined the hardware and will need a new device.
BTW – when using rice to absorb moisture you should leave it submerged for two or three days without powering on.
It lights up just like it does when I plug it into a charger. I have the Blackberry desktop and everything and it recognizes it, but how do I wipe it clean?
hi my 8900 suddenly started switching from headset to handset mode rapidly everytime i make a call thus making the voice break but works well when i use my headset. i have pulled my battery but its not helping. pls help.thank you
@Tayo try forcefully plugging in and unplugging the headset – sometimes it gets confused. Also try a standard battery pull to see if it fixes itself.
I used a Blackberry Pearl for awhile, and on the media card created several folders, some hidden and others not hidden. I am now using a Blackberry Curve and the same media card, now I want to unhide a folder hidden while using my pearl, however when I go to properties it has the hidden box inactivated so I cannot go in and uncheck the box. Can you help?
I have a box that pops up everytime i quick pull or even turn my phone on it says uncaughtjava lang.error what is that and what can I do about it ?????
@Jasmine That means a file has been corrupted in one of your apps or the os itself – Try a battery pull while the device is still powered on.
If that does not work you can try and narrow it down (eg delete apps or backup/delete/restore address book) or you can update the os and all should be back to normal.
My bb bold 9000 camera won’t start up,it keep say could not start camera
Close other application and start camera again.
I did everything possible,I end all the programs also
Did battery puLl however nothing worked.
I need some help please
@ricky This is usually caused by low system memory. Move all photos and videos from your main device memory and onto a memory card or off the device all together. Also delete any apps you do not use that may be taking space.

@Georgie you will have to register the BlackBerry with your carrier – send service books and HRT

Hi.
My blackberry curve got thrown and everything works fine, but its saying there’s no service. like when i called it, it didnt say it was disconnected and the bill is up to date and payed. I’ve never had any problems with it. I’ve tried rebooting it, taking the battery out, reconnecting, etc.
The little thing under the battery where you can lock and unlock the memory card is busted off. Is my curve done for.? Or is there soemthing I can do?
@Alex Unfortunately I can not troubleshoot your BlackBerry issues. It sounds like some physical damage may have been done that is affecting the radios ability to pick up your network.
I would take it in and have a technician check it out to be sure.
My 9700 BOLD obviously has a virus. After downloading a BB app and clicking on a link, it rebooted and rebooted and never goes to the regular opening screen.
I’ve removed the batttery, waited and no luck. It continuously reboots.
HELP!

Hi, I charged my battery today for a while and when i got home, the red light was on so I thought it was loading, but later on I noticed that my phone hadn’t even turned on. I took the battery out a couple names and the light won’t ever turn red. I haven’t even had this phone that long so this shouldn’t even be happening.

my sister was using a used blackberry 8310 when it suddenly died. no flashing lights nothing. we went out and bought a new battery for it. if i can fix it, i can have it.
when we put in the new blackberry battery a white screen came up with a picture of a battery with a line through it in the middle.
i tries taking the battery out and trying to blow away any dust from inside but when i turn it on again the white screen is back. i have left it to charge for about 12 hours now. what should i do next?
How to remove EN icon from top right corner of blackberry 8900?
@Jodette54 Read this post for ideas on how to get rid of the EN.
http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-Curve-BlackBerry-8900/Language-icon-in-top-corner-wont-go/m-p/158743
Basically it is showing you that you have multiple languages available and English is the currently selected language.
So my husband and I each have a blackberry. I have the blackberry curve 8300 and he has a blackberry bold 9000. Both of our phones have met the same fate. Basically they are both we were working fine then all of a sudden they froze. When we pulled the battery out and put it back in to reboot…they no longer turn on. No red light nothing. Tried plugging them in to multiple chargers nothing. Mine did get damp with a bottle so I figured mine was because of water damage but his is fine. Its weird that its exactly the same situation that led up to this problem. Is there something more I can do to fix it. Neither phone is under warranty and I’d hate to have to come up with the money to replace them.

a pop-up that says uncaught exception: java.lang.nullpo interexception doesnt let my bb pearl flip 8220 do anything. i tried a batt pull and it still pops up. it wont let me access the menu either. can u help?

Curve 8900 – was loading the BBM 5.0? all was going well this morning but when I restarted my BB to finish, it started to reboot like normal, looked ok but has never came back. Just a white screen with the little clock like it’s trying to reboot. Did batt. pull, even took out sim card, mem card let it sit 10 min etc.. put back in.. still just a white screen with little clock spinning. Also red light blinks once in a while. What next? Thank you in advance
@jacksta Unfortunately you may have to reload your OS if it does not boot up on its own. See instructions here:
http://www.blackberryos.com/forums/blackberry-how-guides/6175-how-recover-nuked-blackberry-pictures.html
Hi, my blackberry pearl shows this screen thats white with a 3 dimentinal battery in the middle with a red line through it. I tried some of the battery pilling tricks but nothing will work.
Thanks!
@walsh The red line battery icon usually indicates that the battery has been damaged. This is not always the case though.
first – plug the phone into a wall and charge over night. If the battery is still dead then take it to the store and see if you can boot up with one of the stores spare batteries.
i have a bb curve 8900 and it keeps flashing with a purply/blue light i have turnt off my bluetooth led notification thinking it was this but its still happening. not all the time but just randomly starts and the only way to stop it is by taking out the battery, as even when u turn it off it continues to flash! please help many thanks. carla :)
@Carla – the purpleish light is often associated with an IM message. If you are running any kind of instant message apps I would start my search there.
I have a blackberry bold 9000 which worked fine with my new service provider for 20 minutes, i was asked to pull the battery out to reset it and now my balckberry wont read any sim cards it just says insert sim card or initialization failed, where the service providers name should be. I have tried multiple sim cards from different ppl and have got the same result. please help if possible i’ve looked online everywhere and i can’t find a solution…
@ricky If you have a memory card inserted in your 9000 try taking it out and then doing a battery pull – then inserting the sim cards.
Sometimes a poorly formatted or improperly seated sd card can cause random issues with the phone.

I did an upgrade on my tour 9630, and everything was good, now a day later out of no where it my phone will start playing music? Any Ideas as to why or how to fix. It is very annoying.
@stacie – first check to see if the media player is running in the background. if it is then close it completely.
if not then do a battery pull and it should stop that glitch from happening.
My Blackberry 8320 keeps turning off and the LED light keeps blinkin and the blackberry will not turn on. What should i do?
hello my blackberry got dropped in a puddle yesterday.it turns on but it only lasts for about 4-5 minutes.then turns off and wont turn on unless you put it on charge and then it takes like 10 minutes to turn on and im just asking if theres anyway to fix it ..ive dried it out and put it on rice..but it still does it.
@Jeremiah It sounds like you may have fried the phone while turning it on wet =( If the rice did not save it I am afraid it is pooched.
i have the 8520 just got it and msn live tells me after installation when i try to log in that ( service no enabled for this hand held) but it works perfectly on my frens….. and i cant seem to download app world but my specs are in conjunction with the specs needed for download

BB is blinking a red light 3 times and repeats in a cycle… BB is not turning off nor on… As well as, taking out battery doesn’t do a thing, once the battery is pulled and put back in.. the red light blinks continuously in a cycle of 3′s. Any assistance would be much appeciated. Thanks.

hello,
i recently purchased a full housing for the blackberry Bold, the version with the trackball.
And when i place it on the phone started up acting weird after replacing the housing including the trackball.
The screen is giving me that TIME GLASS and all of the sudden it will turn off and turn on in 3 to 4 second interval and would the same thing over and over until the battery becomes low and eventually out of power.
Are you able to help?
Thanks,
Riz
@riz unfortunately I am not able to help with this matter – There are so many factors involved when you swap housing etc.
I suggest taking it in to a technician to ensure no internal connections were broken and that everything is in place.
thanks :)
MY BLACKBERRY 8310 JUST DOES WHAT IT WANTS BY ITSELF , LIKE OPENING , CLOSING APLICATIONS , MESSAGES ETC AND ITS SO ANNOYING PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP !
@Levi Do a battery pull whenever your BlackBerry goes a bit nutty. If the problems persist let me know.
Blackberry keypad and side keys not working. Trackball rolls but does not work when pressed. NO water damage or dropping has occurred. Liquid ingress indicator on battery has red line.
@Shirl Try doing a battery pull while the device is still on. Let me know if things come back to normal.
My Pearl 8130 has decided to randomly and continuously turn off the mobile network. I can turn it back on, but it turns itself right back off again a few seconds later. I have tried the battery pull and still no luck keeping the network on. Help?
@sheri Do you have a lot of free memory on the phone? Sometimes when you have too many pics and apps etc the phone will start to act buggy.

I got a new bb curve 8320 and set up security code. After that I instaled the desktop manager and, as I tried to access this software, it was asking for pin code.
As I input the pin it was counting it as an attempt on the security code from the handheld device.
when I tried to unlock the device it did not accept the security code that I had created as numbers and it was showing letters instead of the usual stars.
Now I have only one attempt left. Can anyone please help me to unlock the handheld device?
Thank you
@aroves yes it is best to use letters as your password. In any case it appears that some glitch has happened during setup. I would just go ahead and try the password one last time. If it does not work it will simply wipe the device and you have to start from scratch.
Since it is a new BlackBerry I hope the setback will be minimal.
I have two icons on my BB 9700, one for my business email and one for my AOL email…My AOL emails come on my business inbox as well as my AOL inbox…How can I change to just viewing them thru my AOL, not my business inbox…If this can’t be done, how do I delete my personal email setting?
Crystal
@Crystal There is no way to control that just yet. Use BIS to remove your personal email account

someone maxed out my password attempts on my blackberry curve. i pulled the battery before everything was wiped… is there anyway i can stop everything from being wiped?
@lierind Unfortunately not. If you managed to pull the battery before the last request was processed then you may have a chance when you pop that battery in.
Only way to recover after a wipe like that is with a backup file through Desktop Manager.
I’ve sat on my Curve 8220 and the screen has gone solid white…the phone still makes and receives calls/txts…is there anything I can do? Thanks

sprint blackberry 8330
wont send or receive mms.
i’ve tried wiping mms from my phone, and re-registering it, iv’e tried fixing my connection, and i’ve tried some other stuff. PLEASE help.
@Shelby I would contact your carrier and explain to them that you can not send/receive mms. They should be able to flash your phone and get that set up in a couple of minutes.
@abi…I had the same problem. The USB port needed to be replaced. Luckily my phone was under warranty and I was able to get it replaced at the store. No charge and it took 30 minutes.
o,so ive been having issues with my bb curve 8320, it will not charge, it shows the little symbol like it is charging but it just wont, ive gotten a new battery, still wont charge, and i usually pulled the battery every week, ive totally wiped it, still..nothing took out the sim and memory card so on…. the only thing i have not tried is an external charger… but for the time being im stayong n nc and it seems there no where close by to find, sooo.. before going and spending more waistfull money and getting an external charger i wonder if anyone has a cluse as to what the problem could be…. the batteries are both in great shape and the prongs that the battery goes onto.. ae fine… ahhhhh i miss my bb:( im going crazy with this stupid lg touchscreen
@nichole I do suggest using a wall charger over night to see if it gets enough power. If you want to try something else first, try the USB ports on the back of your computer (if you have them) They often give off more power than the front ones for some reason.
I recently got a white bb bold and it has been working great. Yesterday i plugged in my bb and opened up BB desktop manager and was downloading the new 5.0 software and a message popped up saying there was an error and it couldn’t download the software. It said that my bb was not connected so i pulled out my phone but now it wont work and i tried plugging it back in but it wont register my phone and my bb wont turn on. It only says “Blackberry” and has a loading bar that is 3/4 of the way loaded. Please please help!?

I have a BB Curve 8320. Every few minutes, I get a square clock in the middle of my screen. What is this?
Hello iv got a blackberry 8520,i bought it yesterday charged it then tried to switch it on.A battery icon with a cross over it came on the front of the screen. I kept taking the batttery out and eventually it switched on.After an hour it swithed itself off and is doing the same thing could anybody help?
@Selina Try charging it overnight using the wall charger.
What color was the battery icon?
my phone keeps goin on speaker and some of the keys dnt work at times…
@bob try a battery pull whenever the phone glitches out like that – replace after 3 minutes.
Hi, i have a new Blackberry Bold 9700, i charged it when i first had it and the day after, it came up with the charging symbol the lighting bolt across it. I plugged it in today but nothing try both wall plug and usb on my laptop! My battery icon is blue in colour, i have left it in the wall charger and it seems to be charging a little when i’ve look on options status, but i can’t understand why it isn’t showing the lighting bolt symbol to show it is charging! The battery doesn’t feel warm when it is charging too…. ! Is they something wrong with the phone?!
@Carly I think you will be fine – just leave it plugged into the wall for as long as possible to get a solid charge.
If the problem persists you may want to have your usb port checked out and or test a new battery.
At the moment my BB intermitantly doesnt give me the number of the person ringing but the number of the previous call or the name of the previous caller?
Have you ever heard anything like this?
How do i stop it happening or what am i doing wrong as i keep picking up calls i dont want thinking it is the previous person calling back.
@Joey I have seen a number of people complaining of this recently but I can not nail down specifically what is happening. It appears to be a glitch with the OS. I suggest updating to the most recent OS released for your device.
My BlackBerry doesn’t charge my battery and even with a fully charged battery it still says battery is drained what can i do to fix this problem
@ony Try using the rear USB ports on your computer or using the wall charger over night.
This is my second blackberry curve 8330 and the first one had some problems with the battery but I fixed that myself. But with both of them something pops up that SIM card is full! Please delete some SMS text messages. I have deleted all of my SMS text messages and I don’t get MMS messages so I do not know what to do so if you could help me I would very much appreciate it! Thank you!
@neenee go to menu > options > sms
ensure that “Leave Messages on SIM card” is set to no.
that should solve your problems.
how to make my e-mail in the blackberry?(javelin)
Pls Cooper,I need an urgent reply. I got my friend’s bold 9700 wet @ d beach,I removed d battery instantly and put it in rice like u said. Now,wen I try to charge,d screen is pretty dark but if I squint,I see a battery icon wit a red line transversing it. I’v tried my own battery wit it to no avail. Pls help. I don’t have d cash to buy a new bold2 for her. Pls.
@Miss Nigeria That symbol means the BlackBerry does not recognize the battery. I suggest looking closely at the connections to make sure there is not dirt on them.
Next put in the battery – turn the BlackBerry on and pull the battery out. Repeat this a few times to see if it comes on.
Finally, if it is still not working – replace the battery and give it a firm smack with a flat palm. This has been known to jostle the battery a bit and sometimes re-establish the battery connections.
Let me know if any of this helps =)
I have a DE symbol in the right corner of my phone that appears every time I am typing on my phone. It’s so annoying ! How do I get rid of it ?
@Nicole – unfortunately once you switch from English to another language those little indicators start to appear.
Try this and let me know if it solves your issue.
1.options > language > language ID > select hide > save.
Hi i have BB tour 9630, i have a problem with it keeps on rebooting it self every after 3 to 5 minutes, what will be the problem?
@mafish I would check for hardware issues like loose battery connections etc.
I would then make sure that you have the latest operating system installed on your device. Some Tours shipped with problems.
Finally I would take a look at my network settings. Switch the settings so you are only using 2G and see if that clears up the reboot issue.
Of course if it does then you should be contacting your carrier for a replacement.
i have a blackberry 8330 and so, some one tried to get in it and they messed it up and now it says jum error 513 and reset but i cant get it to work
HELP!!!!!
@Nat read here for instructions on how to bring your BlackBerry back from the dead.

hi cooper i have a strange problem, my 8110 turns off when i plug it to the charger or the usb port in my desktop and starts an infite cycle of rebooting.
my first thought was that it was a software problem, and i followed the instruction on crackberry to recover a nuked bb.
it looked like it started to work because it completed the first task (sadly, deleting all the software in the bb), but when it was about to start installing the new OS, the connection was lost and it started again rebooting insanely and the apploader informed me that the process failed.
now i get the 507 error (no OS installed) and can’t install anything because the bb starts rebooting every time i connect it to my computer.
do you think it maybe a hardware problem? i have tried diferent batterys and chargers and computers and stuff. any help you can give me will be deeply appreciated
@chel I would take a look at a new battery for your Pearl. It sounds like yours has bit the dust. I would also look at how much free memory you have on your Pearl. That can absolutely contribute to instability in the OS.
My daughters phone had something spilled on it and we put it in rice and dried it out. Now several weeks later her phone will turn on and them start the security checks and then turn off. She pulled the battery and also I took it the local dealer. They said that they did a systems update and that the phone came on but would not scroll past something that had been downloaded off the blackberry app world. The dealer said that it wasn’t compatiable with the blackberry. Can you please give me a few suggestions.
@veronica – It is difficult to troubleshoot that type of issue from so far away but it sounds like your progress is being stopped. One surefire way to fix this is to completely wipe the device and start from scratch.

Pulling battery is not fixing my issue. Ever since i updated my blackberry curve 8320 to 4.5 software the wifi has errors. it connects to network but has a yellow dash instead of green tick,a nd the error is the uma is not connected, i dont need uma and didnt use it before, and it wasnt an issue before updating my os. What do i do?
@Andrew – what OS exactly are you using? What carrier?
hi, my blackberry 8330 is on and receiving messages, but none of my keys work, so i cant unlock my phone, answer calls or anything, i have already tried restting and pulling my battery? what should i do?
@Chris I would try a few more battery pulls – leaving it out for three minutes or so. If that does not work then connect your BB to desktop Manager and do a backup of your data. then reload your OS.
sorry, my reset is not working either
Why does my blackberry buss and make a sound for no reason?
@Sue Smith Can you be a little more descriptive? when is it making noises? what kind of noises?
My trackball fell out and was lost for my Blackberry Curve 8330. I have figured out how to get into the phone (ie. past my password) without the track ball, but I want to know if there is anyway to scroll just along the icons on my home page so that I can still get my email/text messages until the new track ball I ordered comes in.
@Jenna You should be able to navigate most of your BlackBerry functions using keyboard shortcuts. Read here http://www.bbgeeks.com/quick-tips/home-screen-shortcuts-on-your-qwerty-blackberry-881547/ and here http://www.bbgeeks.com/quick-tips/blackberry-browser-shortcut-keys-881065/ for a couple lists
please help me! my blackberry 8330 battery died and when i plug it into the usb or the wall charger a red light comes on for about 20 sec then a battery with a lightening bolt comes in the middle of the screen then an hourglass comes on. this repeats over and over. i cannot turn on my phone. how can i fix this problem?
@lala try leaving it plugged into the wall charger overnight and let me know if that solves it.
Hi,
I read about your solution to almost every Blackberry problem-taking out the battery. My Blackberry Bold 9000 was hanging when I took out the battery and then put it back in. Then, the red light appeared, the white screen with the “loading sign” appeared. After that, the red light appeared again and it wouldn’t stop restarting. It hasn’t even went to the “desktop” after so long. :( What can I do about this?
oh and when I read the nuked Blackberry solutions, I didn’t know which OS to download since I am not residing in the US, so AT&T or Rogers isn’t my carrier. A reply would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
@LDP Yup – definitely sounds like a nuked BlackBerry to me.
You can use any carriers OS as long as you delete the vendor.xml information. After you install the new OS on your computer look here for the Vendor.xml file and delete it before loading the software on to your BlackBerry.
C:Program FilesCommon FilesResearch In MotionAppLoader and delete or rename Vendor.xml
i have a blackberry curve, i only had it for about a month when it was low on battery so i turned it off, the next morning when i tried to charge it, the led light at the top was red then a picture of a battery with a cross through it shows up, i dont use any other memory accept for messages and contacs. i have tried taking my battery out, nothing will work :(
@tiffan That symbol is normal and shows up when the BlackBerry does not have a strong enough charge to power on. I suggest leaving it plugged in to the wall charger or the usb port at the rear of your computer.
Leave it overnight and let me know if there is any resolution to this issue.
Cooper – Just wanted to say thank you for continuing to reply to this post a year and a half after you posted the article. There’s a lot of info that gets repeated, but it’s all useful. Thanks!
Hi ! I have problem with my blackberry bold 9000. It is to warm, and my battery life takes around 2h. What is wrong?
so I have the sprint blackberry tour and i had a thing pop up and tell me to update my phone so i did and it took like 4 hours and it finally got to 100% and then it was stuck there so i turned my phone off and it had to start all over and now it wont just let me use my phone.
Ive had my bb for a few months now.. and nothing has ever gone wrong with it… until today… the battery died and it wouldn’t turn off. so i pulled out the battery… and since I’ve got home and charged it, just the red light comes on.. i dont know what to do… its been on charge for hours too…. xx
Hi BB Geeks… Im having a problem with my new Curve. The touch sensitive pad seems to be broken, as i cant scroll at all or move the cursor around the screen. The buttons all work ok though. Is there anything i coudl do, before i take it back to where i bought it?
@Richard D
Try a battery pull to see if the trackpad comes back to life. If not then seek out a replacement.
My blackberry works fine. But on my homescreen and in the menus it shows I have 2 bbms that I haven’t read. But when I go to my black berry messenger it is empty and I have replied all necessary chats. Please help me! How do I remove that icon
@Ahkoo Unfortunately this icon freezes quite often. There are a number of things to try including:
battery pull
change your theme and pull the battery
delete and reinstall BBM
my black berry wont finish restarting, ive pulled the battery out plenty of time and it starts to restart but then just stops
um i have a blackberry curve, and i put it on tha charger over night and now nun of my buttons work?! my phone will ring and everthing but i cant press anything. Can some one please help?? msg me on facebook! [http://www.facebook.com/itsxLeahDuhh]
@Leah Try pulling the battery while it is powered on – replace after 30 seconds. Keys work now?
My blackberry Bold battery was low and then the screen went totally white. I plugged it to the charger and a white screen with blue bolted battery appears on screen. I kept it for an hr and it doesnt go. Either that battery appears or the screen turns off with red LED on. NOw i took out the battery because i really dont know what to do. How will it turn on again? PLEASE HELP!!
@Zareen Take your phone and plug it into the wall charger or the rear usb port on your computer.
That battery symbol just means the battery is too low to turn on the device. If an overnight charge does not work then I would take the phone to the store and see if their batteries work and power up the phone. If yes then buy a new one.
having a problem with my bb. It shuts down and it wont turn on. It only have a solid red light. I already pull out the battery and so is the sim, but still do the same thing. I charged it overnight and still do the same thing.
Do you guys have any advice what to do next?
@Peach Check out this post for tips on fixing your BlackBerry

Everytime I take my battery out and out it back in and start up my blackberry 8800 I always get a busy signal when trying to make calls and it won’t send any texts, what can i do?
@nick Look in the top right corner of your screen – after the battery pull does it display SOS?
No its say’s GSM in the top right
what happened to it? does that mean all my stuff in it are gone? I couldnt find my research in motion in my computer. do you know any way to fix it?
@peach Yes all your data on your BlackBerry is gone unfortunately =(
You need to install the Blackberry operating system (OS) onto your computer first – then carry out the steps in that guide I sent you.
Grab the latest BlackBerry OS for your device/carrier here
http://www.blackberryos.com/forums/downloads.php?do=cat&id=16
Once downloaded, double click the file to install it on your computer.
My blacberry curve is just trying to reset itself over and over. the charger or wire for the computer wont read it. CCan it be fixed?
@Mike – Check this post out for a method to recover your BlackBerry from the constant reboot cycle

hi i had a questin mi cell phone screen went blank after it was sat on what could be the problem and how could i fix it?
@wendy Is your phone a BlackBerry? Also is the screen black and won’t turn on? is it a white screen?
The first thing I would try is a battery pull. pull it while the device is powered on and replace after 3 minutes.
HELP!
have had my blackberry bold less than a week and it keeps saying it has run out of battery when it hasn’t! as i have charged it all day 2 days ago, yesterday and today!!!
why is it doing this, i have tried on numerous occasions taking the battery out and putting it back in, but it still does it. it will now only randomly work saying its got battery when it feels like it, which is very rare!
any help much appriciated,
thanks charlotte
@charlotte I would bring it into a store and see if you can test one of their batteries. The problem could be with your BlackBerry or it could be just a bad battery. Only way to check is to try it out with a battery you know for sure works and has a full charge.
What does it mean when you havent used your blackberry for awhile and you plug it in and it has a picture of a battery with a red line through it? Ive charged it for 3 hours and its still on there what the heck???!!!!!!
@krista Your battery is defective or your device is recognizing it as defective.
Try charging it overnight using the wall charger. Also try plugging the phone in to your computer without the battery inserted – wait a couple minutes and insert the battery – any luck?
I have a blackberry curve that has worked fine for almost a year- but now when I go the the google app it just shows a white screen and then says something like “error uncaught server” or something along those lines. what can I do to get it up and running again?
@kendra first
1. Go to the Settings or Options menu on your phone.
2. Select Advanced Options.
3. Select the Application section to view a list of all the applications on your phone.
4. Highlight Google Mobile App and open the menu for the selection.
5. Select Edit Permissions.
6. Change all the permissions to Allow
If that does not fix the error then delete the app and redownload. It has been corrupted somehow.
The ring tone on my Blackberry 9000 has become so quite that you can not hear it but if I take the back cover off it works fine. After several trails with the back almost closed, open and fully closed it seem that as soon as the back is correctly closed the ringtone will all but be silent. I have upgraded the OS to the latest version, but no difference, all the ringtones are set to maximum and vibrate otherwise i would never know if a call was occuring.
Is there a switch that is activated when the cover is on?. I cant see that there is an air tight seal on the cover that would stop the ringer from being heard but that is virtually the effect that is happening.
@paul Unfortunately this is a common issue and not one that I have been able to fully diagnose. My suggestion is to fold up a piece of scrap paper and place it between the battery and the back cover of your berry.
I have seen this little trick work as recently as a couple weeks ago.
i had a bb bold 9700, got dropped upside down and when i picked it up the led indicator is not working anymore. i turned it off & removed the battery…after 2 minutes, i put it backed the battery and start it, the led indicator starts blinking with color green but when i pressed the lock botton the led indicator stopped. any suggestion/s what to do? your help very much appreciated. thanks
For days now, my yahoo messenger on my tmobile blackberry curve(8320) does not want to work compared before. I keep getting messages like “unable to connect to server” or “connection error (65) problem receiving data from the server. and the worst thing i cant seem to have my internet working thru a wifi connection and it gives me a message that says “unable to connect to the internet, if problem persists please contact service provider”..so i called tmobile and they directed me to a blackberry tech support, they asked me to change some settings on the advance options wand on web browser configuration to set it to hotspot etc..it was connecting to the net but then worked only temporary. it does not seem to connect my saved bookmarks on the internet/wifi, i had to go to my browser and type the certain site i wanna go to, not even the history won;t let me visit the site…they even told me that yahoo messenger needed to be subsribed for the service from tmobile in able for it to work. i know blackberry OS have it readily available.
i just dont know what went wrong with my phone, does it automatically update the cellphone when there are new OS updates? am not aware of the latest blackberry add-ons or discrepancies. I hope somebody can help me even with just the yahoo messenger coz it saves me money from texting and internet thru free wifi. sorry for the long message. thanks in advance.,
i have a blackberry curve 8330 it will not charge it just shows a battery with a lightning bolt thru it do u kno what is wrong i just bought a new battery
@MikeyC Is the bolt red or blue? Red is bad and indicates a dead battery. Blue just means the battery does not have enough charge to power the device yet. I suggest plugging it into the rear usb port on your computer or the wall charger overnight.
I have a BB Bold 9700. I’ve had it for a little less than a year with relatively no issues and now all of a sudden, when I try to sync my phone to my PC I get an error message that says “Unable to read application data” when trying to sync my address books. I use Microsoft Outlook as my organizer and I always have but I can’t figure out what the problem is. PLEASE HELP!!!
@TajC This can be a tricky one to sort out. Check out this forum discussion to get some tips on what to look for.

please refer to my post….no one seem to know my phone’s issues :(
URGENT:Just did a battery pull on my BB Bold, and it is taking FOREVER to turn back on, will go to a white screen with a hour glass in it, then the light will go off and the red light will stay on, then go back off,and repeat… it has been doing so forever…what is wrong with it?any solutions please
@tam Sounds like it is nuked. Check out the last youtube video on this page for tips on how to recover:
http://www.bbgeeks.com/blackberry-guides/videos-on-how-to-do-stuff-to-your-blackberry-883948/
I have a blackberry curve i have had for a few years and today i came back to it to text someone and in the middle of me typing the text the “menu” came up and sent the message without me even pushing send. It will now not allow me to send a message without pushing back at least 10 times. the menu comes up without even pushing the menu button, just typing letters.
@Kathryn Try pulling the battery out while the power is on – replace it after 3 minutes and see if thing go back to normal. Let me know.
I see a lot of the same questions and too offer some assistance. PROVISIONING: thats is if your BB was on a different carrier, and moved to another, or if your OS is from another carrier, this can cause many problems when reloading the OS, go into your service book, and check that your provisioning is correct and proper with your current carrier. If it isnt, it may not reboot, or may be glitchy just before a crash.
Another thing… BB’s crash, thats just a fact, so you should get in the habit of doing backups often (at the least weekly), to avoid loosing your data. After all, it is just like a mini computer, and you would do a back up for that right? Get to know your BB and how to fix it. For my 8900, I have used many differant softwares, but always go back to using BBSAK. (PS: BBSAK will back up the PROGRAMS that the desktop software (App’s) doesnt, in my case the RIM desktop software only backs up the address book and icon arrangement. Search for and find the BB software called BBSAK and download it, its FREE. I know it saved my 8900 several times, Learn how to WIPE and INSTALL the OS. Sooner or later youll probably have a problem, where you will have to anyways, better to learn it ahead of time, rather than under a stressful time restraint. besides, its very easy to use on 8900′s We have the power to manipulate, control and repair our BB’s, which is an awesome advantage. Its what the carrier’s always hoped we wouldnt learn to do, so they can rob you into a new un necesary purchase. PS I make my living buying perfectly good BB’s, on E-Bay, that only need a simple WIPE and REINSTALL of the OS. And Ive become rather tired of it, and feel the consumer shouldnt be so takin advantage of. Knowledge is Powerful. Learn your product, and you wont have so many problems
MY New BB Curve’s trackpad keeps freezing and now its frozen and wont allow me to move around is it possibly a space thing or is the phone broken?
joe, my blackberry has been turn off randomly and a couple days ago the thing went crazy, i cant access anything i have a white screen with m information such as address book and all my apps AT THE TOP OF IT SAYS:Blackberry Platform 4.0.0.235. whenever i enter my password errors come up.I also cannot make any calls except emergency calls
Hi, i have the blackberry curve. And the sound was working then all of a sudden it stopped. When i get phone calls or text messages it wont ring. When i try to play my music on it, there will be no sound. Ugh this is really aggravating me. Can you help me please!
Sorry< i meant i have the tour
:) NEVERMIND! I DID THE BATTERY PULL & IT WORKEED! THANKS
hey, im freaking out. ive had my blackberry curve for a while now maybe 2 years..and my phone just randomly started turning off and any button i press wont turn it back on. then the red light starts blinking. i tried battery pull and it works fine for a few minutes until it turns off again and i have to repeat the process !!
please help me i dnt know what to do!
@Paula do you have many apps and themes and pics/video on your device? When you start to fill up the device memory the BlackBerry can start acting like you have described.
Blackberry 8330 will not scroll up. Tried taking out the battery etc. The cell phone guy took the ball out and cleaned it… still nothing. Any suggestions?
@Amanda Try pressing firmly on the trackball and rolling in the opposite direction of the stick (so down in this case). If that does not work, you will most likely need to buy a replacement trackball and housing.
You can get a replacement kit here:
http://store.bbgeeks.com/productaccessories.asp?id=26240&n=BlackBerry-Replacement-Trackball
Hi, i just bought BB Storm 9520, and i face a big problem..wifi connection still show white, when i try to browsing , it was show“unable to connect to the internet, if problem persists please contact service provider”..i already set up browser configuration to hotspot…please help me
@asiah Do you have a BlackBerry data plan? Who is your provider? Some providers limit wifi connectivity for users without a data plan.
I plugged the charger into my Curve 8900 and thee screen went blank and just a red light on the front left blinks intermittently and I cannot now turn the BB on. Have pulled battery and done soft restart but no change?
@V ikki Does Desktop Manager recognize it? If so do a full backup of your data and reload your operating system – then restore from the backup.
I woke up this morning and although I can see my bbm icon,I can’t access it…I’ve taken out the battery and replaced, downloaded and replace the bbm with the same version…still,I cnt access it…I think the next thing to do is curse the phone….what can I do about it…
@Seun I suggest sending your service books and registering your HRT again – see here:
http://www.bbgeeks.com/quick-tips/what-is-a-service-book-what-is-a-host-routing-table-881448/
I have a blackberry curve and have been deployed for the last 6 months, during this time i havent even touched the BB its been in its holster tucked away in a safe place. I took it out today just to turn it on so i plug it in and all it will do is display a constant red light and a white screen with a battery with a blue lightning bolt through it! Any solutions????
@leslie Brinson That battery with the blue line through it means the battery is completely drained and needs to be juiced up before it can power the device. I suggest leaving it plugged into the wall charger overnight and try again in the morning.
It is possible that the battery got corrupted during your time away – if you have no luck charging your original battery – try booting up with a new one.
my blackberry 8350i keeps having the attenna strength go up and down and then loose the network. Then it will start working again. I can be in the same spot and it keeps going in and out. This just started 3 days ago
Thanks
I have a BlackBerry Storm 1 and it got sand under the screen, which has happened before, so I used a sewing needle to clean sand around the screen so it would click down, which I have also done before. but as I wiggled the pin across the bottom of the screen across the buttons the screen all of a sudden went black. Sometimes you can see faint navy blue lines going horizontally across. It is still vibrating and recieving messages, and the notification light still works. Help!
My Blackberry 8530 was fine when I went to bed last night. When I woke up this morning, it was powered off. Went to charge it, but nothing happened. AFter I put my husband’s battery in it, it was fine. We did a battery swap at the phone’s store. After is sat for a couple hours, the phone got extremely hot and the battery was drained again. Now we have a lightening bolt through a battery on the screen. Any thoughts???? Or did I just get a bad phone? We’ve only had them for 6 months!!! And why was it so sudden? I haven’t had any problems with it lately…
@Gina It depends what color the bolt is – Blue just means the battery does not have enough juice to charge the device and needs to build more. The red bolt indicates a corrupted battery.
How long did the fresh battery from the store take to lose its charge?
From the way you describe the problem it sounds like it is a hardware issue. Clean the battery contacts with a qtip and some rubbing alcohol.
hi, just got bb8900, all seemed well, woke up this morning and track ball turning but the icon wont move, ive tried turning the phone on and off, done a battery pull when the phone on, but to no avail any help would be appreciated…
my phone has keeps going on the headphone icon when i am on the phone speaking to somone and then i can not speak and the other person carnt hear me and i carnt hear them can somebody help me please i need a phone that works
@alex Try plugging and unplugging the headset a couple times. Sometimes the BlackBerry does not recognize the headset has been unplugged.
Also do a battery pull when things like this happen. Most of the time the glitch corrects itself upon reboot.
@Alex Try plugging and unplugging a set of headphones forcefully – do this a couple times to ensure the BlackBerry is recognizing the change in status. After that try a battery pull for good measure.
My blackberry will not turn on. I plugged it in to charge and a battery w/ blue lightning bolt appears for about 2 seconds, then the red light comes for about 12, that it turns black for about 8. It does this over and over again, and I have tried pulling the battery out and everything. Thanks, I have a 8330 curve
@pfkay That icon means the battery does not have enough juice to charge the device or turn it on. I suggest keeping it plugged into the wall charger overnight to see if it can collect enough charge. If not you will have to locate a new battery and test your BlackBerry with that one.
thanks cooper i have just tried that and it has worked great now my phone is back on track thanks again
i was downloading a software to my blackberry curve 8320 and i unplug the phone before it was finish and now the phone is not working and there is a rd light on there is blinking i don’t know what to do please help!!!!!!! me
I get SOS on my phone, also the trackball is not scrolling down.
@Chere Here is a post showing you how to turn your radio back on. You will see SOS when the radio is off.
http://www.bbgeeks.com/quick-tips/turning-your-blackberry-radio-back-on-881933/
As for the trackball – try pressing in firmly and rolling it upwards to see if you can unstick it. Also a qtip and some rubbing alcohol might help there as well.
my bb wont turn on after my bb’s battery totally empty..even i recharge it back..it wont turn on..so,what should i do??
@Hye It sounds like a bad battery. The first thing I would do is pop over to a store and try booting up your phone with one of their batteries. If it works then the solution is to buy a new battery. If it does not work then let me know and I will offer some suggestions.
Hi, my blackberry was working fine 30 mins ago but now won’t turn on at all and doesn’t respond to any buttons I press. It had full batteries and now I’m charging it again in hopes that it will come back. Any other suggestions?? Thanks so much!
My Curve 8320 will not recognize that I have a fully charged battery in. I just bought a fresh new battery yet it still just turns on and shuts right off. If I plug the phone in it works, but I am unble to use radio. Any suggesions?
@Rob That sounds like a hardware issue to me. You can try reloading your OS to see if it is software related but I am not sure that would help.
My BB is Bold 9700. My problem is it back to turn off and cannot turn on. I’m quite sure that battery still have power. However, I charge battery again 1-2 hrs. And try to turn on again. But it is not work (just show red blink and turn off again. Normally, when I turn it on. It will vibrate with light blink.
How can I solve this problem.
@Man This sounds like a nuked BlackBerry – I suggest checking out these instructions: http://www.blackberryos.com/forums/blackberry-how-guides/6175-how-recover-nuked-blackberry-pictures.html
hey so my blackberry curve cut off last night. i took the battery out then restarted it. it turns on but NONE of my buttons work so i cant do anything with my phone, whats wrong?
@Falynn Was the device dropped or was something spilled on it by any chance?
Have had my tour for almost 2 years now and hated the little ball that just never seems to work well regardless of what sensitivity setting I use. Well now it won’t roll down at all. Any hope or back to the Verizon store?
Thanks.
@harley Try pressing the trackball in firmly and rolling it in the opposite direction of the stick. Also check out how to clean the BlackBerry Tour trackball.
http://www.bbgeeks.com/quick-tips/cleaning-your-tour-9630-trackball-884508/
I replaced my BB 9000′s sim card last night and so I also pulled out the battery. After placing them back, the LCD won’t display anything. The backlight is on but the screen is blank. I could likewise receive messages and calls but still, LCD has no display.
I have a BB 8330 that wont turn on. It started yesterday when just the trackball would move but I could not select anything on the screen. I have tried multiple battery pulls and now the phone won’t power back on at all. Occasionally I might get a battery icon with the lightning bolt. When I plug it into my computer I sometimes will get the red led to stay lit for a little bit then it goes off and nothing. I tried to update applications through the desktop manager but it fails to initialize the blackberry. It is also not recognizing the BB all the time when i plug it into my computer. I need help!!!! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
@Joe Plug your BlackBerry into the Wall Charger over night. Try connecting it again in the morning (give it 12 hours).
It sounds to me like your battery is too low to initialize the boot process. Let me know the result.
hey well i have a blackberry and i realized it was off i try turning on back again and it will turn on but i cant press any buttons and rigt away the light turns off i cant see anything but i cant press any buttons at all< help i reallyy need my phone, does this mean i need a new battery????
@pau try just pulling the battery for now. See if that fixes the glitch. If it does not than try using a battery from your local dealer to see if you can get it powered up and working alright. If yes then buy a new battery.
I have a BB 8330 Curve. It has been a great phone until today. Today i could not view my incoming and outgoing txt in one folder. Now i have to view SMS Inbox for incoming txt and SMS Outbox for outgoing txts. how do i fix this?
@Irma did you recently update your software or change themes by any chance?
How do you erase call log on BlackBerry? I just got this thing.
@OS Highlight the most recent date in your call log list – press the menu key and select “Delete Prior” This should wipe it out.
I recently got a replacement Tour and put my new battery, memory card and sim card in. The phone however keeps popping up with a message that says memory card removed, then memory card inserted. Do I really have to buy yet another phone because this one is messing up?
@Leah Try formatting your memory card and reinserting it. Also try firmly inserting the card as it may not be seated correctly.
I’ve had my Blackberry for a couple of months now and I never really had too many problems with it. But just recently, it asked for an update. The update started just fine. Slower then my last Blackberry but updating nonetheless. I fell asleep and when I woke up 6 hours later it was still at the updating screen showing one hundred %. I waited and waited and it wouldn’t go away so I tried turning it off and it wouldn’t. I took out the battery and put it back in then it started the update all over again. This time I waited, watching as it was updating. Again 100% but it wouldn’t prompt for a restart as I anticipated. When I finally got it to work, all my contacts had been deleted, all my settings apart from my password, gone. However, I’d get texts as I normally would using the crunchSMS app while the app had apparently gone away. I still had the message symbol for that app even though it was as if I hadn’t downloaded the app. I turned it off then turned it back on, hoping I had to manually restart it but instead, the update screen started all over from 0 and now I can’t get it to work. Any help please?
@Martin – try doing your OS update through desktop manager instead of the wireless update. Some people have mentioned having better luck that way.
Let me know if you still have issues and I can help you look into other ways of restoring the device.
I have a BB 9500 that has a problem where it does not come on and it blinks 4 times and then 1 time and then repeats over and over again. It does not recognize on the desktop manager software at all. Any ideas?
My Black Berry is showing a sign of Battery with a long line crossing it. It is not moving from this sign. It is also not working. I have put a new Battery. But I can not close the phone too. This sign is there 24 hours.

@Pixxiee Sounds like you have wiped your phone. Read this for instruction on how to reload your Operating System files
http://www.bbgeeks.com/blackberry-guides/step-by-step-guide-to-upgrading-your-blackberry-os-88196/
my bb 8900 model is having problems with text mesg. the mesg icon shows that i have unread mesgs when i dont have any shown. can anyone help?
@Ronnie Try doing a battery pull to clear up those phantom notifications. Also if you are using a custom theme try switching to the default theme to see if they vanish.
i was outside today and left my phone on a table and it was hot outside.when i got back to it wouldnt turn on and i took the battery out a few times and the indicator light was flashing red.i turned it back on again and none of the buttons work but the trackball moves around.i can get calls but cant answer them too.it didnt get wet or dropped.
@David – let the phone cool down a bit and then do a battery pull – let me know if it works again after that.
Hi on my curve 8300 I went under options and tried to update tr software, it has been at 11% for 5 hours but the timer moves in intervals? Will removing my battery fix this problem?
@Asia If you pull the battery while it is updating you will most likely corrupt the device and have to start from scratch again.
my blackberry storm 2 droped and now when i tryto switch it on it starts loading then something comes up saying flash reader failed ncan someone help me please??
Hey :)
I realise this has probably beeen asked before but I scrolled through and couldn’t find the exact answer, but was hoping you could help me anyway!
My Internet has suddenly stopped working, it now shows small letter gprs instead od capital GPRS on the right hand side. I don’t have wi-fi switched on but I never have done before and it’s a;ways worked. I have unlimited access to the internet but sometimes get no signal where I work and after a couple of days it just stopped working altogether!
Sometimes the internet will briefly work tbhen it goes back to saying “Unable to connect to the internet” Help please :s
@Kat The lower case gprs means you are within network coverage but unable to connect to the right network. This is often caused by a corrupted sim card.
find a friend with a BlackBerry and try their sim in your phone – same issue? if yes then it may mean your hardware itself is damaged. If the second sim works then it indicates your sim has the problem and you should get a new one.
My bb bold 9700 camera has stoped working.anytime I try to make use of it,it dasplays the message ‘unable to start camera, close other applications’.pls help me I have switch off the phone several times but to no avail.
@yemmy try pulling the battery instead of just switching the phone off. This usually solves the problem. Let me know if you still need some help.
I got a new blackberry and set up my email with an icon. Now, everytime I get an email, I also get a text message. I’m sure I’m getting charged a text message (I don’t have unlimited text) everytime I receive an email. How do I stop my getting my email in a text?
@Elizabeth I suggest contacting your carrier and asking them to block or disable the sending of those text messages. I am 99% sure that they originate with the carrier.
In most cases messages and calls that originate from your carrier are not considered billable. I would double check that with the carrier though.
Also, how do I save phone numbers to my SIM card. Some save and some didn’t. When I transfered my old SIM card to my new phone, I don’t have all my numbers. Is there a way to save all the numbers on my old phone to the SIM card or do I have to reload each number one by one? thanks
@Elizabeth One at a time unfortunately =(
when i take out the battery and put it back in, when my phone turns on why does it say uncaught exception:java.lang.NullPointerException

Hello, I have a blackberry and the battery is heating up and the screen is black with the blackberry logo and its loading 1/2 way but it won’t do anything, tried doing batter pull, charging battery, pull sim card…what could it be?
@Shani It could be a corrupted OS or it could be a physical issue with the battery. Bring your device into a retail location and try one of their batteries.
If the device boots then buy the battery – if it does not then you will have to try wiping the phone and reloading your Operating System files.
So my sprint blackberry curve 8530 was disconnected from sprint service and the same day it was disconnected it died extemely quickly even after I charged it twice. Now a few days later I went to charge it and a red light appears and goes away and that’s it the phone won’t charge or turn on. Is that part of sprint that the phones completly turn off ? Or is it just the battery. I need to know cuz I want to still use it for the camera and all my music ad info. HELP !!
@Alyssa Try plugging it into Desktop manager to see if it is recognized. The phone should still work after being disconnected from the Sprint service.
my Blackbery Bold was working fine when i first received it and had been sync by our IT department to coincide with my outlook.
after a month of having it, i have familierised myself with it, mostly by trial and error and i think this may have caused my problem.
i noticed that my email address weren’t coming up anymore when i attempted to compose an email. i typed the full email address in, then the subject, then completed what i wished to send.
i then did not receive an option to send the email. i pressed by blackberry button and there was no send option. the options available are help, save draft, flag for follow up, add bcc and so on………. but the send option is missing.
i have looked at friends as theirs are as mine was. i have pulled the battery and completed a soft reset but with no change.
it’s as though i have changed an option some and turned off or deleted something but i have searched the options and settings i cant find what has happened or how i may be able to reserve this.
Please help as my blackberry has basically become a phone that can receive emails but i am unable to use it it to reply.
@James – mention this to your IT department as it sounds like you are on a BES server controlled by them.
You need to have your device re-registered and resend your service books. Essentially your data services have been compromised and this should be an easy fix for your IT guy.
Hi – I’ve tried doing 3 battery pulls on my 9650 today. Its been working perfectly until last night. My BB Messenger messages are not going out and I haven’t received any (this never happens). Also, my internet isn’t working – can’t connect through the browser or BB app world. Everything worked perfectly yesterday. I have not installed any new apps – I did adjust one, so to I tried deleting it and doing another battery pull thinking the program may have caused the problem – still no BB Messenger and internet. Any suggestions? My SMS messages are still working. I re-checked all my connections – (data, etc) though I never change these anyway.
Update – OK, I guess it was a carrier issue – everything seems to be working fine now.
if i formatted my media card on my blackberry curve 8300 is there any possible way to get my pictures back?
@imer Unfortunately not – once the card is formatted everything is wiped out.
Hello,
I’ve had a Blackberry 9700 for about 4 months now, and despite the various issues I’ve pushed on. Last night I was prompted by the device to update Blackberry App Store. As soon as I did, the internet symbol continuously shows in the top right corner, and I cannot load any pages or use BBM. I have tried everything, from disabling/re-enabling data permission/network, hard/soft reset, restoring to an earlier backup, clearing the device of all data and reloading… and the problem remains! I am at the end of my tether and have had to restrain myself from throwing it against the wall. I need it for work, and right now I’ve had to leave it sat with data turned off and the constant connection is draining my battery and could also end up costing me money also. It’s like it has a virus or something, although I have only ever installed apps from the Blackberry App Store. Can you help? thanks!
@mike Sheriff So you have wiped the device and replaced all your apps etc. What kind of apps do you have running when the data connection is going wild?
Twitter? Facebook? Weather apps? IM apps? anything that would be requiring a constant update if the settings are not managed properly.
Have you tried not installing Appworld to see if the data transfer is directly related to that app or not?
I am sure we can get to the bottom of it.
my blackberry 8330 is showing a battery with what looks like a lighting bolt going throught it and it won’t turn on. Does that mean it is completely dead?
@Clinton – what color is the lightning bolt?
Blue means a dead battery or charging battery – red means it is not connected or corrupted in some way
my black berrry is doing the battery with a blue bolt in it how do i fix that?
@Brandon79 The blue bolt mans there is not enough charge in the battery to start the device. Plug it into the wall overnight and see where your charge is at in the morning.
i have a storm 2…and had a problem with the battery…now I dont…thanks Cooper
@Scott Cheers!
Hello i have problems with my blackberry bold 9000 especially with the trackball, the click is not working, i can move to the left right up and down very well but the click with the doesnt work, also the green and red button are working not so good, and some times when i type the letter “A” it puts 3 or 4 letters “A”.
Somebody help me???
@Alotico Try a battery pull while the BlackBerry is powered on. Replace it after 2 minutes. Your keys should go back to normal.
My blackberry all of a sudden won’t charge. The yellow lightening bolt is showing up as if it is charing, however the charge has remained low. I tried to pull the battery but it is still the same. The battery is only 3 or so months old, same with the charger. Any suggestions?
A friend of mine was trying to log into my phone today, and he tried the maximum number of times. After the final attempt, my phone wiped itself, where i couldnt even stop it. but the problem is, is that my phone keeps reopening and shutting off. how can i get it to stay on and work properly? I tried plugging it into the computer, but it didnt do anything..
I have a BB 9700 and the mobile network isn’t working. It keeps switching back and forth b/n 2G and 3G and I have trouble making calls, receiving texts, etc. But the wifi works just fine. Pulling the battery doesn’t work. Is it the sim or the phone that’s creating the problem?
Okay, i have the blackBerry Curve, and last night my battery was Dead so i turned it off and forgot to plug the charger in, so now my phone will not turn on regardless of the charger, i just get a red light, then it’ll stop and my screen will come on with a battery with a red line crossing out the battery, not a bolt like most cases. What does this mean exactly?
Hello.. my blackberry is on and charging.. but the yellow lightning bolt is blinking.. my phone isn’t charging.. what is going on?
I’ve had my BB for a while but i never let it charge fully, and today it just wouldn’t turn on.
i’ve taken out the battery countless times and put it back in and i left it to charge and the only thing that would happen was the red light would stay on for a while..
does this mean i need a new battery?
@IrisMorrison It does sound like a problem with the battery. I would leave it plugged into the wall overnight. If it still has no charge take the phone into a shop and ask if you can test a battery they know works. That should let you know where the problem lies.
Hi I recently got a BB 8310. I am unable to download apps as it says a software update is required yet everytime I try to update it says no update is available. My friend who has the exact same model can download apps. I have tried downloading through the phone and the desktop manager neither works as it wont let me select the langauge on the phone and the desktop says the most up to date software is present. Im clueless! Any help much appreciated.
@Grangle No worries we can get you updated. Check out this post and you will be well on your way to downloading new apps. Any problems let me know.
Step by Step: Upgrading Your BlackBerry OS
my blackberry would not update recents update on bbm and wont send my pings and i cant receive aswell
@dammie Resend your service books: http://www.bbgeeks.com/quick-tips/what-is-a-service-book-what-is-a-host-routing-table-881448/
Hi,
I have a BlackBerry 8320. My phone’s battery is not charging though the charging sign is getting displayed on plugging. I have tried both AC and USB chargers. Though it displays that the battery is charging the charge doesnt happen. Could you please help me with a solution for my problem.
Thanks in anticipation
@Anagha You have a couple things to check out. The first is to pop your battery out and take a look at the small metal prongs that connect to the battery. Look for any kind of dirt or corrosion on those prongs that may be affecting the connection.
Next I would take your device in and test it with a battery at the store that you know works. If it charges then you have narrowed the problem down to a faulty battery.
Let me know if you have success with this.
my blackberry 9500 dial pad isnt working all of a sudden. what do i do?
@yvonne Do a quick battery pull. Replace the battery after 2 minutes. Does the keypad work now?
i was messing bout with my blackberry curve and a cleared the memory and now it wont turn on.. it has just got a white screen with the black clock in th middle its been like tha for over 4 hours now.. can you help ?
@danielle Try a battery pull and let me know if it actually completes the reboot.
Hi. My 8110 used to have a battery sign with a red lightning bolt but it suddenly changed to a sraight red line through the battery sign. This only appears when i charge it and when its not charging it is just completely black and wont turn on. Ive tried the battery pull but it wont work. please help me =(
@Mishmash This can be caused by a few things. First if you have the facebook app installed go ahead and delete it through desktop manager.
Do a battery pull on the phone and see if it boots completely.
If it does not boot then check the connections for the battery to ensure they are not dirty or damaged – the battery might not be connecting properly despite having a charge.
The final solution is going to sound odd but try dropping the device from about 4 ft onto a firm carpet (not tiles and not a super soft carpet).
So I have the 8520 Curve, I was trying to update my applications and software thru my BB Desktop Manger. Then it got stuck or something durning that process, and I had to disconnect it. Now when I try to do it, a black screen comes up, like its rebooting BB system, them my provider (ATT) screen pops up, then it stays in that mode. I can not turn it off, nor will it connect to the BB Desktop Manager. I basically can not turn my phone on, and can not restore any data
@BBHelp Check out the steps on how to recover from a nuked BlackBerry. Not exactly your situation but the steps are the same.

Hi, I have a brand new BB 9700 however the screen just goes white regularly and i have to take the battery out & put it back, this seem to fix it but only for a short time. Any ideas?
Dave
@Dave try running your BlackBerry without your memory card in there for a bit. Does the screen still go white?
Hi,
I have a blackberry 8520 and I want to add songs to it. The memory isn’t even full, but when I try to add songs, it doesn’t work. Any idea what’s wrong with it??
@Becca I am not sure really. Try some of the methods listed here to get your music onto your BlackBerry:
http://www.bbgeeks.com/blackberry-guides/how-to-load-music-onto-your-blackberry-882325/
hello of recent my blackberry bold 9000 orange has started showing call failed when i try make a call and send all those who are trying to call me to my voicemail box….i checked if my phone has been black listed and it hasnt…..and i tryed all tricks up in the internet but have failed….can you help?
Good day,
I use a Blackberry curve 8900, two days ago i switched off the phone, now it wont go on again. i have tried to take out the battery and put it back in, nothing happens, it only shows a red light thats constantly on.
plz help me……
@mlungisi That sounds like your OS has been corrupted somehow. If you plug it into your computer is the device recognized by Desktop Manager? If yes then backup everything and reload your OS.
Pictures not saving to the blackberry storm 9520. when i take a picture with the cam it says ”saving” however when i go into Media and then click on pictures it is not there. i do not have a memory card on the phone either..so i was wondering what to do to solve this problem. Thanks
@Neela This is probably because you have low memory on your device. My suggestion would be to get a memory card and save all your pics there instead of device memory which gets full very quickly.
i have a bb9700. the ringer does not work anymore or should i say it is very low and it is on the highest volume setting. i have very low volume for the mps player also. i have been told it needs to be repaired which seems logical but want a second opinion.
@tim It could very well need a repair but try this first. Take an old business card and fold it in half – wedge it between your battery and the battery cover.
Any improvement on sound volume?
Help – I have a blackberry curve and the keyboard is sticking – not all of the characters only some – hard to press down. Turns out my kids spilt a “little” pancake syrup. Pulled the battery – there isn’t any water damage and it was wiped with a damp cloth right away – any suggestions?
@Nancy – if you are brave you can pull the device apart and use some rubbing alcohol on a qtip to get any residue off your keys that may be remaining.
the pin ball on my bold 9000 sometimes doesn’t roll (scroll) down (av no problem rolling up)and more often than not, one press on a key gives several output of the same key eg. press letter g once and 2 or 3 letter g’s will come up. wats happening?
@Sandra Your device probably has some dust/dirt built up around the ball and keyboard – try giving it a good cleaning using a qtip and some rubbing alcohol. If the problems continue you may want to look at taking the device apart for a more thorough clean.
Today I was just texting in my blackberry when suddendly the green light turn red and flashed very quick and it said something about securitiy..mmm…now the red bolt flashes really quick but it stills works but I’m afraid of getting viruses in my blackberry, how do I clean it, Can I clean it with my antivirus of my computer or what means that red light?
@lety What exactly do you mean by “red bolt” – I am 99% sure that you are in no trouble and what you saw was a security update being pushed to your device but I am not so sure about a flashing red bolt.
my blackberry curve 8530 will not type the letter i, when i go to bbm it doesn’t let me scroll, when i go to texts i have to type R to reply, it won’t let me scroll down to reply, when i go to the menu it doesn’t let me scroll through, in facebook i can’t go anywhere but stay in the status box, twitter won’t let me scroll, and if i go to a text box anywhere like in bbm or texting, if i move the “mouse” it just puts in random letters with accents. i’ve taken out the battery many times, i’ve turned it off and back on, i don’t know what else to do
@Emma If a battery pull (while the device is still on) is not fixing this glitch, it is indicative of a corrupted os or actual damage to your hardware. was the device dropped or has it been exposed to liquid of some kind?
The first step I would take would be to back everything up through desktop manager if possible then reload your os. If the problem continues then it has been narrowed down to physical damage and you will need to have a tech take a look at it to see if it can be repaired.
i have a blackberry curve and the symbol for a BBM is on my home page thing and i dnt have any chats opens, pin requests or anything, i have taken the battery out and out it back in and it turned it off and on but it wont go away help please ?????
@Emily Try changing your theme to one of the default themes that came with your device. Once you have switched over do a battery pull and check if the notification is gone.
Guten Tag,
Im having problems with my. BB9700, when i turn it on a white screen pops up and it doesnt show anything…i don’t understand why becaue i didn’t drop it in any water, nor did i drop it on the ground Please help me?!
@Dee911 This happens on occasion – pull the battery to reboot the device. If the problem persists then wipe the device and reload the latest OS.
I just bought a Blackberry Pearl Flip, it was working great.. I went on facebook and it still was working fine then it randomly shut off but the battery said it was half full ? I tried turning it back on, I got nothing.. I pulled the battery many times, I even charged it over night and it still wont turn on, Red light turns on and off and sometimes I get the battery with a blue lighting bolt. ? Please help me.
@Corey try charging it overnight.
I just bought my Blackberry pearl flip, I activated it.. And went on facebook and it shut off automatically, the battery wasn’t low and I did a battery pull, Charged it and it still wont turn on it just has a red light that turns on and off.. Any suggestions how to fix it? It’s Urgent.
@Corey sounds like you have a problem OS installed. If you connect to Desktop Manager does it recognize your PIN?
If so then I suggest reloading your OS with the most recent available. If you need links let me know.
Hi, I have a blackberry curve 8530, I take the battery out to reboot put it back and it start loading but dont do nothing else it just keep rebooting and rebooting and rebooting. Nothing happens just reboot
Is anyone having trouble with the Blackberry Desktop Manager software on your computer? I have XP Professional on my machine. Nearly every night the system reboots (or gets stuck in the process) and the next morning, I have a couple of windows open from BB Desktop Manager, telling me that a restart is necessary to update changes yes/no, and often a Microsoft window is open asking me whether I want to send/don’t send an error report. I had hoped that updating the software as those become available might fix this…wondering if anyone else has this problem and how to correct. Thanks! Otherwise I LOVE MY BB TOUR!
@LisaC I have not heard of any widespread cases like yours. It sounds like there is a conflict on your computer somewhere. Have you tried DM 6?
phone will not charge passed 45% any idea what the problem is?
@Dave First try the battery in another phone. If it charges then the problem is in your device. You can try reloading the OS to rule out a problem there. If you determine it to not be the battery or your OS then it is most likely a hardware failure with the charging port and you will have to have it looked at by a tech.
hi i switched of my mobile and took the batery out but when i put the battery back in the device kept starting with the white screen and box in the middle and it kept on going from the white to off and that red light on top and it kept on rebooting but did not turn on yet..
any advice u can give me
i have a bold 9000
hi i took out my battery but then when i put it back in the device was not starting and kept on rebooting turning off and rebooting the only thing i see is the white screen with the box then it turns off then againg the white thing with the box and then again turns of i have a bold 9000
thanks..
@moe It sounds like your operating system files have been corrupted.
The first step I would do is pull out your memory card and then do a battery pull. Sometimes a corrupted memory card can cause the device to freeze.
If that does not work then google the phrase “nuked blackberry” for steps on how to get your device working again.
Good luck.
Hi there,
I purchased a blackberry bold 9700 less than a month ago and I have had many problems with it so far. Occasionally I will just lose service out of the blue in a place that has service and it won’t come back on unless I take out the sim card. This happens about once every few days. That might be a problem with my service provider. But today I was texting and all of a sudden it just shut off and wouldn’t turn back on. I charged it, nothing. The red light comes on but the screen stays black. I took out the battery and sim card and nothing happens. Please help! I don’t want to be converted to iPhones!
@Emma That all sounds like a bad OS install to me. I would backup your contacts and personal data then reload your OS. If you still have issues then I would opt to have the device replaced.
Hey, I have a BB Bold 9700, and i cant seem to get my email settings to work properly. I have gone into the email setup and it asking me for a username and password, i dont know what either of this is, also we i try to send a email it doesnt go though…….
p.s what can i do to prevent my phone from wiping ??!!
please help..??!!!
Many Thanks
@jazz the settings for your email are not something I can help with. Your best bet is to contact whomever you have email with and discuss this with them.
As far as stopping your phone from wiping, the first step is to not password protect it. That will reduce the chances of it wiping accidentally because of a forgotten password.
There are times when you will have to wipe your device though so it is always a best practice to perform regular backups of your data and contacts etc.
hi, i cant seem to go in my bb curve 9300 blackberry application after 4 days. NO idea why. juz cant seem to click in. the rest of the main menus is still alrite. plz help =)
@weiwen Try pulling the battery while the phone is still on. Replace it after three minutes.
my blackberry curve works great its just when i text or anything my R button is not showing up i have to hold it down forever to make it and sometimes it wont even show, right now i am having to copy and paste an r in anything i type, does anyone know what the problem could be?
@kimberly It is most likely some dirt under the keyboard or it could be the result of some liquid damage on the device. I would try a battery pull first (while still on) then try the R.
if it is still not working then look into taking the device apart and cleaning the keyboard. Youtube can help with this or you can have a tech take a look.
I have blackberry curve 8900 and I dropped it into a sink. It is working fine now but when I turn it on I can recieve calls and masseges but answer my calls, make calls, read masseges, or write them because my keys won’t work when I click them. samething for the BB ball, I can scroll up, down, right and left but I won’t click on my choice. Otherwise, the bettary ,signals , and screeen are fine. so, what is your recommendation to fix this issue
@Haya Try a battery pull (or three in a row). pull while the device is on and replace after 2 minutes.
My Storm 2 just decided one day that it didnt wanna give me sound anymore. It does not ring and it does not play songs. when i play songs i can only hear it if i go to the menu and click activate headset, i believe it is a speakerphone problem because i cant use speakerpone when im on the phone, whats the problem???
@billy Sometimes this happens and the phone gets confused. The most common way to fix it is usually to get a headset and plug/unplug forcefully a couple times.
hi, i have purchased BB storm 9500 last month. it was working well. suddenly the LED light that is present beside camera, (the light present on the backside of mobile) turned on automatically. i tried many ways to off it but no use, even removed battery for a whole day but in vain, can u please suggest a solution for this as soon as possile.
@bharath reddy This one is tricky because it could be a hardware issue or one caused by software. I am going to suggest backing up all your data and contacts etc then wiping your device using jl_cmder.
Once that is done you can restore your data and see if the problem is solved. If the light is still on then you are looking at a hardware fault and will have to have it checked out by a tech.
thanks for replying. how to wipe device and what is jl_cmder?
“Also, make sure, that you have the OS you are wanting to install to the device, installed to your computer as well.Make sure the Vendor XML file is deleted if you are going to install a OS that is not from your carrier”———-Where is the OS that i need to install in mobile after jl_cmder wipe is done? and what is XML files?
If plugging and unplugging doesnt work, which it hasnt so far, what should i do??
hi guys,
i hav bb cure 8900, i restarted yesterday and i got this msg (uncaught expection:
java.lang.nullpointerexception )
i discover the sms inbox gone and the the sms icon disappeared =S

@Moe Try a battery pull – this sounds like a small glitch. If the sms does not come back let me know and I will give you some help restoring things.
I have a Blackberry 8100 and it started to act up. I turns on for about 1sec and then turns off again. I took out the battery but it still does the same. What should I do?
@Ally Sounds like low memory

@deecee That sounds like you may have loosened a connection or damaged the hardware in another way. I would have a tech take a look.
hi basically somebody lent me their bb pearl so literally all i have is the phone and the charger it was working fine up until this afternoon when it suddenly went totally blank no LED red or green light and just a black screen. iv tried pulling the battery and charging it but nothing works. iv pressed the red button till my thumb is practically blue i havent dropped it or anything…im panicking obvs coz i have to return the phone soon …any ideas?
@gigz If you plug the Pearl into a computer via usb do you see the LED flash red?
hi, i dropped my blackberry in water a couple days ago and did all the right stuff it seems for it works perfectly again now except one thing- the hang-up button doesn’t work, meaning i can’t turn it on (it worked briefly yesterday but is now not working again). if i do a battery pull will my alarm clock still work? that’s the only way i can turn it back on!!!
cheers :)
hi, will my alarm still be set if i do a battery pull? on/off button not working so kinda important as the alarm’s the only way i know of turning it on atm.
@charlotte Yes your alarm should still be set after a battery pull.
hey
my blackberry keep resetting by its self> When on i cant go into anything like my text messaging of twitter and other things. I preformed a hard reset but its still not working what should i do

Hi there, I am having a BB storm2 flased to meropcs, My apps are not working it always say check the connection, I am able to use internet and MMS at the same time. only google map is working. Can you please help me
@vic many BlackBerry apps require an active BlackBerry data connection (BIS or BES) in order to work.
Helooo i am wondering if anybody could help me i have got a new blackberry curve and i am unable to call or text every time i try it simply says call failed and i am wondering if anybody could offer any advice if so please email me @ dbushell1994@yahoo.co.uk any help appreciated
@Dan Bushell It sounds like your device is not set up properly on your providers network. I suggest giving them a quick call to ensure your device is properly provisioned on their network.
need help..there’s a “blinking clock-like thing” in the middle of my bb curve.how cAN i get rid it?bcoz of this my battery got easily drain…plz help..tnx
so i got the blackberry curve 2 days ago, and downloaded bb app world, but when i try to download any apps, it just leads me to my bb account information instead of downloading the app. i have tried a battery pull, re-installed app world a number of times and changed all the permissions to allow but nothing has worked. my sister got the same bb at the same time and her app world works fine.
please help, i just want to download some apps!

hey
i have a blackberry bold 9700. for some eason it keeps resetting itself and the last time it did it my trackpad is all messed up. for example, if i just run my thumb across the pad, it will take me to a random spot on my phone such as the internet, or somewhere in my options. when i actually do get to where i want to be on my phone, it will open up my options and select options on its own. i have tried soft and hard reboots and i ave also removed the battery. i havent got the slightest clue whats wrong with my phone but i need help!!! if you have had these problems and know how to fix them please help me! my email is jordanmahoney1@hotmail.com. thanks!! :)
@jordan Backup everything then reload your OS. This sounds like a pretty harmless glitch but one that should be addressed with an install of the latest OS.
my BB 8520 Vibrates and led flashes green every 2 minutes…what is that????
@didi The green light is a coverage indicator which can be turned off.
1. On the Home screen or in a folder, click the Options icon.
2. Click Screen/Keyboard.
3. Set the LED Coverage Indicator field to Off.
4. Press the Menu key.
5. Click Save.
Hola, tengo un Bold 2. Hace un mes le funcionaba el flash, el cual usaba muy poco, pero ya no funciona.Qué puedo hacer? no sé si es un problema de SO.
I have a curve 8900 …haven’t really had many problems with it in the last year and i love it still, but out of no where the vibrate stopped working. i must admit ITS MAKING ME CRAZY, i’ve wiped the phone out completely done many battery pulls, upgraded the os tried to redo that twice now and nothing at all works. I know it shouldn’t be a big deal but its bothering me, i don’t want to have to buy a new phone or take it anywhere is there anything i can do on my own to fix this? or did it just quit and screw me lol
and yes, I have wiped out everything and done battery pulls, sim card pulls, media card pull cleared memory and other files and upgraded basically brought it back to factory status and still not a thing.
@Ashleelynn If you have loaded up the latest OS and you have checked your active profile to ensure that vibrate is selected (not disabled) for all sound profiles then it is most likely a hardware fault that you will need to have checked out by a tech.
hi
I have recently got a BB “storm 2 9550″ unfortunately I missed my 10 tries to enter Unlock code. now i bought the right but the BB refuses to enter it. what can i do? please help me
thank you very much.
@Darsh after you have missed ten tries the device wipes itself – you will have to set up a new password.
I have a problem with my blackberry (obviously) i left it in my friends car over the weekend and when i got it back today it was dead. So i did what every person does when its dead, i went to charge it but i noticed when i plugged it in the light in the top right corner was red can it’s constant. I use to get a yellow light that flashes. My phone wont turn on now and ive trying pulling the battery i have no clue what else to do! please help
@Samuel Miklos First try plugging in your phone using the wall charger and leave it there overnight. The LED activity, even though it is not what you expected is a positive indicator that the device is still recoverable even if it will not boot.
Let me know.
Hi! I have a Curve 8520 and I’ve been having problems with typing the letter ‘i’ recently. It has happened a few times before and I fixed it by holding onto it for a couple of seconds and it typed out again. This time I tried the same method and it didn’t work. I even took the took the battery out and restarted it – I still can’t type the letter ‘i’. What’s wrong with it and how can I fix it??
@Vien It sounds like either someone has messed with your autotext settings or you have some kind of glitch in your OS.
Check the AutoText for any entries that look out of place. If you do not spot anything then backup all your data and update your OS.
I’ve just checked the AutoText and it looks normal to me. What is OS?
thank you for your interest Mr.Cooper
hi, i have a blackberry curve 8330. the other day it crapped out. like, nothing worked. you could still see the screen, you could scroll through things.. you just could click anything or use the key board. it has been having this issue for a day now. i have switched off of it and onto a xenon. but i love my blackberry! i took the baTTERy out. i plugged it in.. nothing seems to work… PLEASE HELP MY POOR BLACKBERRY!!!
@avery Try reloading the OS using Desktop Manager – hopefully it clears up whatever glitch is going on.
Blackberry Curve 8520: I dropped my phone from 6 feet high and now my phone wont boot up. At start up screen, right after the Blackberry logo starts up a Battery Sign with a red Cross on it pops up. I know definitely sure its not the battery because I tried my phone’s battery on another Curve 8520 and it worked, also tried their battery on my phone but it still showed the battery with a red cross on it screen. My desktop manager wont read my phone and i tried doing the wipe thing with JLCmdler (forgot how you spell it). I’ve tried dropping it again because I read previous comments saying if you drop it it will work. But still no help. What else can I do?
hey, i have a BB 8800 and the problem is that my LCD doesn’t look damaged, but it doesnt work. The phone switches on and i hear clicking noises when the trackball is moved, but i can not pick up calls and i cant dial, but that’s what im imagining because i cant see anything :) I have ordered a new LCD and hope that this will help, but if it doesn’t is there anything else that could be broken?
@Ricky I am pretty sure your initial diagnosis is correct. Let me know how the screen switch goes and if you still have issues after that.
Hi, I purchased a Blackberry Gemini about 3 weeks ago. Yesterday afternoon I kept getting the clock ticking icon when I tried to initiate a process. Last night I tried turning the phone off in my attempts to ‘fix’ this problem. This morning I tried to turn the phone back on, got the white Blackberry screen and that ticking clock again, then the phone went dead. The battery had a charge last night, it’s plugged into my computer now and still nothing. The red light is on though. I’ve taken the battery in and out about 10 times and still nothing. Is there a quick fix I can easily do or do I need to take back to the seller as it’s still under warranty?
@Ashieka If you connect to Desktop Manager is the device recognized? If yes then backup your contacts etc then reload your operating system files:
http://www.bbgeeks.com/blackberry-guides/step-by-step-guide-to-upgrading-your-blackberry-os-88196/
My husbands Blackberry Curve’s buttons recently quit working (all of them! ven side keys)..He tried pulling it apart and cleaning the keys but it didnt work, now im sitting here listening to him whine cuz he has 71 txts he cant read and its driving me nuts lol. He already ordered a new phon, but in the meantime, is there anyway he can view these texts by synching to his laptop or something?
@cassie I would suggest the following. Have your husband download and install BlackBerry Desktop Manager if he has not already done so.
Once installed , connect the BlackBerry and do a backup of the important data on the device. In the advanced settings you can specify that sms is included in the backup.
Once a backup (IPD) file has been created you can use the following software to open it up and export your desired data (in this case sms messages) into text file or excel spreadsheet.
Amber BlackBerry Converter

My blackberry curve led light is solid red.. It died so when I put it on the charger the red light just came on. And the screen is black. Im trying to turn it on but nothing is happening.
PLEASE HELP ASAP
@Selina The first thing I would do is try a brand new battery in your device. Pop over to the store and ask them if you can try a battery they know works. I had a similar problem with my Bold and a new battery brought the device back to life immediately.
If the new battery does not work then I suggest following these instructions in order to wipe the device and bring it back to default settings:
http://www.blackberryos.com/forums/blackberry-how-guides/6175-how-recover-nuked-blackberry-pictures.html
If JL_Cmder won’t recognize your BlackBerry see here:
http://blackberryfaq.com/index.php/What_to_do_next_if_Jl_Cmder_will_not_connect_and_wipe
Good luck.
Hi, my blackberry curve 8900 was working fine for about 8 months now, but few days ago I realized that the battery has been draining out really quickly (fully charged and no calls or texts made, and within an hour its eaten up half of my battery life). My bb is also heating up badly especially around the battery and back area. I’m really worried as I’m in a foreign country for 2 months and my phone is giving me problems. Help please!
@Shalom Do you have Twitter or Facebook apps running? Are you in areas of bad network coverage? Are you hooking up to anything using Bluetooth (or trying to connect?)

Help here, I have a blackberry pearl flip 8230 and lately my battery’s been “draining” real fast and I don’t have much things in there no apps running nothing and then it started resetting by itself at any time so I bought a new battery and when I try to charge it it shows a battery with a blue lightning on it then the red light starts to flash then stops then a battery with a red bar on it shows up then disapears and it keeps doing this over and over for hours. So I can’t turn the phone on even after like 12 hours on the charge the new battery doesn’t seem to work should I wipe my bb or is that new battery totaly worthless what’s going on??
oh and my old battery still works on it tho and the new one clearly indicates that it should be compatible with my bb
Please I need help, got a new bold white 9700 last week and its being working perfectly until I did an os upgrade to the leaked version of blackberry 6. I didn’t like the os so I downgraded back to 5.0.0.714. After that, my blackberry button can’t access my homescreen. Done battery pulls and all but still the same problem. Pls help? Cooper and others, will really appreciate
@jide Try resending your service books and HRT. If you still do not have the correct functionality then wipe the device and reload the OS once more.
do you have any idea about my problem?
hi, cant get through the home screen and it says uncaught exception: index 4>=4. i have no idea about this. tried pulling out the battery, sim card, and memory card too but i still cant get through it.
any help please! i just got this bb curve 8520 for 2weeks…. =[
Hi, I have a blackberry bold. It froze a few days ago so i took the battery out and put it back in. When i switched my phone back on I had no blackberry messenger. I went to reinstall it through blackberry app world but everytime I try to log into app world it doesn’t let me log in. It has no error message and I know the password is correct because I have reset it. It just goes back to the logging in screen everytime. Heelppp. Thanks Mel
@Melissa you should log in on the computer first and ensure that you have filled out all the required info for your appworld account. They have added things in the past that have affected users ability to login.
I’ve been on the blackberry site and reset my password so thats definatly correct. It always let me log in in the past its only since it froze. It doesnt show any error message. I’m able to access blackberry app world but as soon as i want to download or reinstall something it brings up the email an password log in. I enter the correct details it says its authenticating then goes back to the previous screen.
@Melissa I get that you were able to log in before and not now. What I am saying is that there are additional pieces of info that you now have to include in your app world account details. Specifically a security question and paypal info. If your current account is not letting you go any further than password and login then this may be the reason.
Try setting a new account up in AppWorld from scratch (use the same email address you used the first time you signed up)
Some folks have reported that this solves the problem as they are now prompted to enter the additional info.
Let me know.
I pull my battery once a week. My bbstorm 2 is showing that i have 2 sms. i cant find them anywhere. please help
@Kathryn Try changing the theme on your blackberry and doing a battery pull. Sometimes those notifications get stuck. Also ensure it is a sms message – open your messages folder > menu > view folders > go through each folder to see if you missed anything.
Please can you help me? I am trying to sort out my brother’s BB 8520, he says it just ran out of battery and switched itself off, now it won’t turn on. I’ve tried charging it and connecting it to a pc, the red light comes on briefly, then turns back off.
Also occasionally I get a symbol on screen which is a white battery and a blue lightning bolt but then it goes off again and the phone goes back to being unresponsive. I have tried taking the battery out several times and have even tried taking the battery out and leaving it for a while and still nothing.
It is still under warenty so I can take it back, my biggest concern is all the details that are on the phone, contacts, e-mails, messages, photos etc. I have tried connecting it to the pc but the pc won’t pick the device up. Is there anything I can do to get all this info off?
@Lucy The battery icon you see is the standard charging icon. I suggest plugging it in over night and charging with the wall charger. Let me know if the device will not power on after that.
Hi all, i have recently purchased a 2nd hand blackberry with no battery. I would like to know if it will damage my BB if i plug the charger in to test the BB’s functionality, or will i have to wait until my batteries arrive?
Thanx
@Craig You will not damage your device at all if you plug it into the charger with no battery in place. Go ahead and check what you need to check.
my phone gets stuck after i reboot it. When the phone is starting again it gets stuck on one particular point and ahs been for the past hour or so. Do i need a new phone? :(
@Ayms If you plug the phone into your computer do you see a red led flash?
I have a blackberry bold not sure what one but it still has the trackball. Anyways it will be fine all day then just randomly shut off and it wont turn back on unless i take the battery out. When I do that and it turns back on it says that it’s completely dead and has no service.
@Ashley Take it nto a shop and ask if you can test one of their batteries. It sounds like your battery is pooched.
Hello, I need some help! Yesterday I tried deleting my Facebook for Blackberry application because my Tour 9630 kept freezing and I figured it would be all the memory that I was using. It said it needed to be restarted in order to complete deletion so this morning I did a battery pull to do that… ever since it has not been able to fully reboot! It stops its loading process at about the “e” in the blackberry logo. I have pulled the battery several times throughout the day to no avail. What can I do?? Why is it doing this :( Please help!
okay the thing is, here recently past 3 days, my blackberry wont save pictures?
for example if a friend sends a picture to me, and I save the image, i go to my pictures and it shows a a black background with a grey box..and says “unable to display file/media card/blackberry/pictures/
it does this also when i take pictures???
it wont let me save ringtones. But I can still take videos and they show up just fine.
Ive battery pulled it numerous times, Ivetook the memory card out, and took a picture and it worked just fine….
I have plenty of space, so my phone couldnt be overloaded and out of memory..
are they anything I can do??
please help..thanks
@Coty I suspect there is a corrupted image file in your pictures folder. If you can, use your PC to read the memory card and look for hidden files. One should have a.dat extension – delete that file and your memory card should work again.
If you can not read the card on your pc, connect with mass storage mode and copy all the files over – then format the card with your BlackBerry and transfer the files back.
My blackberyy is so slow. i reset it and now it freezes on the welcome screen and nothing works. it doesnt move or anything. what can i do ? it seems that everything i try to do makes it worst.
@Jayy Try deleting Facebook
the problen with my blackberry curve is that it will only let me type numbers and as my password is letters it is locked. I have tried pressing alt and the capitals button but it doesnt remove it
@victoria Try pulling the battery and trying again or connect to Desktop Manager and enter the password with your PC keyboard.
my name is mohammed and im had second hand bb few days ago but problem on it is that if you are taking coloured photos they dont save colour they save like shadow so how can you sort out this.
@mohammed Try opening the camera > menu > options > Color Effect – change to Normal > menu > save
Did that fix the problem?
i hav just bout 2 second hand bb curve’s, 1 is showing 5 bars of signal and the o2 is showing on the screen but still cant recieve calls or dial out, it just says call not allowed. the other is on vodafone but the same thing is happening 2 this 1 aswel, iv tried pullin the battery an sim out but this does nothing at all i just get the same problem, wen i go 2 mobile network options and run diagnostics test it says no on everything, do u think that they cud be blocked or something, or can they be fixed because i have just paid 150 pounds each and none of them work so as u can probably guess i am not happy about this. any hjelp would be much appreciated as i feel im at a dead end and feel ripped off, thanx. skip.
@skip It sounds like the devices have not been unlocked. That would be my first step.
If you need a place to start check out http://carrierunlock.com as they have been good to BBGeeks in the past.
Once unlocked you should be able to put active sim cards in and get standard service. You will need to add BlackBerry data plans to both devices if you want to use them to their fullest.
hi, im having my bold 9000 for abt a year..
never got any problems with it before..
anyway i’ve never activated the BIS since 3month ago. but i think it aint an issue abt the battery drained..
i just notice my bb seems like get HOT!! easily this last 3 days.. yeah, it’s not just warm, even it’s being hot by itself tho i dont use it (i.e just leave it on the table)
and the battery drains terrily as that hot phenomena :/
i dont have any application load. i’ve ben trying to do soft and hard reset for many times. but it gives nothing. and today, when i charged it, there is no lightning sign that used to be appeared if i charged it…
Cooper do you have any idea abt this hot bold?
@Diana It sounds like you have a defective or compromised battery. I suggest trying the device with a new battery to see if it responds in a similar manner.
my blackberry cuts off and on and sometimes say no service help.
@ashley Is this happening in areas that you know you should have a solid signal? On occasion the BlackBerry will drop its connection if you are in an area of low network strength.
I initially took out my battery because i couldn’t receive voice notes from bbm, and thought it might of fixed it .. but when I put the battery back in, it keeps loading the status bar over and over again, I don’t know what to do PLEASE HELP!!!
@ava Is it your BlackBerry that keeps reloading or BBM?
my blackberry was deleting all of its memory when i locked my phone and because i did not want it to do that i took out the batttery now my blackberry will not start up all it does is it just keeps loading
my bb bold 9000 Self-reboot several times and came white screen, then suddenly stopped working I try reinstalling the operating system but does not recognize by desktop management and Loader, I tried every way but did not work does not recognize by computer, just a red light 1-3 times. can any one help me ?
@dentist Try usiang JL_Cmder to wipe the device, then reinstall your BlackBerry OS
http://www.blackberryfaq.com/index.php/How_do_I_wipe_the_BlackBerry_using_Jl_Cmder%3F
I have a Blackberry 8800 and I haven’t used it in a while. I recently had a problem with the new phone I got and now I need to go back to my 8800 as a backup. I tried turning it on. no luck. I plugged it into the charger and a red light shows up fades and then a green light shows up and flashes on and off. the screen is black and when I try turning the phone off, nothing happens. Is there any way you can help? I tried the battery pull and it didn’t work. I can’t turn the phone on.
@Mike It sounds like the battery in the 8800 is corrupted – the green LED indicated the device is functional and in network coverage.
i try to using JL_Cmder but device can not be recognize, my be because i using win 7 64bit and all JL_Cmder not computable , also i try to make it computable with win xp service pake 3 but still not recognize and JL_Cmder if i press 4 to wip com bace to the menue screen and nothing happened . i think these is hardware not software problem. any anther idea ?
@dentist Looks like you need to find another computer to try this out on.
I have a BlackBerry Bold 9000. I’ve had it for a year and a half now, these last few months I’ve been having a few problems with it.
It started when my battery was low, and the screen turns white and stays white until I charge it, and it’ll reboot. Now it does that even when the BlackBerry’s battery isn’t even that low, I’m listening to music, only 2 bars, and the screen turns white. Just last week I was charging it whilst playing music, the screen freezed.
I don’t know what’s wrong, where I took my phone for service they say I need to reset my whole phone, but I think it’s the battery.
What to do? Thanks for the help!
@Mary Definitely buy a new battery. If you find that it is not the cause of the problem after all you can return it for a refund. Also, all BlackBerry batteries have a one year warranty on them.
this is my problem. can’t access BBM for group chats. when i access the group chat the following messege comes. please help.
Uncaught exception: Application Registry.getOrWaitFor (0xfeac3fdd1e48c6ec) owner died Thread (Thread—118923264,5)
@vaishali I would first try resending your service books and do a battery pull immediately afterward. This can sometimes clear up errors within core BlackBerry apps.
If that didn’t work I would look at deleting BBM and reinstalling it. You can download the latest version from http://blackberry.com/messenger
If that still does not work I suggest reloading your BlackBerry OS or upgrading to the latest version available for your device.
I recently got a blckberry and am still trying to work out how to use it but i appear to have lost my SMS icon for messages – i may had inadvertantly hidden it.
On your home screen press menu > show all to uncover hidden icons.

@helpmeplz Have you recently installed an application on your BlackBerry before this issue started?
If yes then I suggest starting in safe mode and deleting the app:

@jason Try using JL_Cmder to wipe the device and reload the software
http://www.blackberryfaq.com/index.php/How_do_I_wipe_the_BlackBerry_using_Jl_Cmder%3F
hey. my phone was wiped recently by accident. it locked me out and all that appeared was a symbol that said ‘reload software: 513′i plugged it into my new laptop and installed the blackberry software. but my phone isn’t be found? help please??
@ChrissyCooper Try using JL_Cmder
http://www.blackberryfaq.com/index.php/How_do_I_wipe_the_BlackBerry_using_Jl_Cmder%3F
My blackberry curve 8520 abttery keeps going loww probely in an hour .. only had it for about 6 months. so i brought a new battery the same thing iss happening, im soo confused, the battery goes even if i havnt been on it yet . HELP !!
@Zaynah Do you have Twitter and Facebook and IM apps running on your BlackBerry? They can drain the battery very quickly as by default they are set to update every minute or so.
I suggest changing that to 20 minutes to see if it changes anything.
help
I have a Blackberry curve.
All of a sudden my LED stops working when I receive messages/email/call etc. I tried going to the options trying to fix it there and I also tried going to the profiles and doing it there. But yet no red light.
@selvana Have you installed any apps recently that mess with alerts and notifications by any chance?
If not I suggest a quick battery pull and they should come back to life.
OK I HAVE A BLACK BERRY PEARL AND I JUST GOT THE BLACK BERRY 8830CAN I USE THE BATTERY FROM MY PEARL IN TTH OR DO I HAVE TO GET THE OTHER BATTERY FOR THE 8830
@Tara No you can not use a Pearl battery in the 8830. You will have to get a new battery for the second device.
The batteries in our store are on sale right now
8830 BlackBerry Battery
I have a Tour 9630, have had it for about 4 months with no problems, all of a sudden the battery keeps dying even when the phone is powered off. I turn it off with about 1/2 battery life left, then when I go to turn it back on later, it’s dead. I’ve tried getting rid of any extra apps that might be draining the battery, but nothing works. Help!!
@Andrea I would grab a new battery from the store and try using the device with that battery. If the problems persist let me know and return the recently purchased battery for a refund.
I just bought my BlackBerry Curve 8530 on 11/20, I haven’t had any problems with it other than when I take pictures I have to take my battery out and put it back in to view them. Is that normal?
And today 11/29 I was trying to transfer my photos from my phone to my computer using the USB cable, it asked for my password so I put in the password that I use to unlock my keypad, it failed ten times. So my phone got wiped. So I restored everything, most of my settings came back and I had to put most of my contacts back. But I only have one picture on my phone now. It’s the very first picture I took, and the very first picture I set as my background. It wasn’t the background picture I had when my phone got wiped.
Is there anything I can do to get all my pictures back?? Please help me, I’m very bummed, and I’m not a happy smartphone user anymore. =(
@jamie Where were your pictures saved on the device? If they were in the device memory they are gone for good unfortunately.
If they were on the memory card try reading it from the computer to see if the card is still formatted correctly.
Good luck.
Hey
After pulling the battery out my blackberry still didnt work!
Please Could you get back to me
Thank you
@Anonymous If you plug your BlackBerry into your computer do you see a red flash from the LED ?
i have a bb bold 9700 and my screen looks scrambled. whenever i reset it or pull the battery it only temporarily fixes it. the minute i let the screen dim it rescrambles or just turns white with multicolored lines. please help.
@jeffrey I suggest backing up all of your data and contacts etc – then reload the OS (or upgrade to the most recent). If the OS update does not solve the screen problem then you have a hardware fault and will have to have it checked out by a tech or replaced by your carrier.
when i send text messages they dont appear to be sent and they still appear in the box that i wrote in.
@Emily Try clearing the conversation whenever the sms or bbm windows start locking up like that. It is almost always caused by low system memory.
A battery pull can often unfreeze the device without having to clear the conversation history. It will freeze up again though after some use.
i got problem with my bbery tour…it keep restarting till now…
1.red led flashing
2.then the small icon in the middle show up (like windows while we waiting it loading)
3.the blackberry logo appear then its loading for 5 seconds then its back restarting…
should i format it or should i buy a new battery coz my battery have a lill bit problem too..
@akmal That is an error with the Operating System. I suggest reloading the OS software or upgrading to a newer version.
Hi, I have a Blackberry Curve 8520. My camera doesn’t work, but I’ve already tired pulling out my battery, hard restart, and soft reset. Plus I don’t have any applications on my phone besides the ones that come with it. But when I open up my camera, it says “Could not start the camera. Close other applications and try opening the camera again.” But like I said I already tried the hard/ soft reset. Can you help me please?
@LaShun
This is a memory issue – you need to clear up some space on your BlackBerry then try the camera again.
If that does not work try squeezing the area of the camera lense tightly between two fingers. On occasion it can become loose.
I’ve got a problem with my bb bold 9000, it started a long time ago. the problem is that my screen turns white and then turns into a lot of different colours and vertical stripes.. I went back to my provider but they told me that they couldn’t fix it and that my guarantee of my phone was over.. I think this is an Hardware problem. Do you know what I can do about this annoying problem? I already updated my phone with the latest software.
greetz
@hein Check youtube for videos on how to take apart your device model. Pay attention to any videos talking about the screen and its connections. I suggest taking it apart and seeing if you can tighten up the screen connection cable. That is what the problem appears o be.
I went to bed last night and plugged my BB 9000 into the wall charger (nightly routine). I woke up and no display, no nothing! I pulled the battery and reinserted…. nothing… pulled battery again and connected to wall charger to check red LED… nothing…. checked battery with multimeter and reads 3.76 VDC (just like it should) and still a bit warm from the overnight charge.
With no LED and no display… what is the next step for me… thanks!!!!
@tgrisko Is the device recognized by Desktop Manager? If yes then reload the OS software.
I have a serious problem with my curve 8520, since yesterday, I could not start my device anymore. When I start the device, it start to boot up until maybe 75 % and then it starts all over again from 0. naturally I tried to pull the batterie out, and waited like couple of minutes but it still want works.does anyone has similar experience? any suggestion on how to solve it?
please answer me ASAP …..
@nehal – Sounds nuked to me – see here for recovery steps: http://www.blackberryos.com/forums/blackberry-how-guides/6175-how-recover-nuked-blackberry-pictures.html
Hi, need an answer as soon as possible please.
i downloaded the app world 2.0, after that i was told to restart. I didt, but, now i just have a White screen with the little clock on it… please… need an answer now, because my BB ys my world… Bussines, life, everything…
Here is a pic of what I’ve mentioned…
?
?
BlackBerry does not start anymore
@nina I suggest pulling the battery to see if you can get the phone to boot completely. If it will not then restart in safe mode and delete appworld completely.
I have problem with media card, the media card can not connect to the BB always error?
@suriawan
First make sure the media card is inserted properly – sometimes it can get moved out of place and that will cause an error. If that still does not work you should format the media card and start from scratch.
they said my antenna is not reading, and i just notice that my batery has 4 red x’s…wat does that mean
@ashley The red x’s on your battery indicate water damage at some point.
Hi, I just got the Blackberry Curve 9300 and I have no clue how to get Windows Live Messenger (msn) or facebook on it. Please help!
@pama You can grab Windows Live Messenger for BlackBerry here: http://mobileapps.blackberry.com/devicesoftware/entry.do?code=wlm20
and Facebook for BlackBerry here: http://appworld.blackberry.com/webstore/content/680
dear sir
my friend bought me a blackberry (bb) from U.S.A. STORM 2 9550. this bb is closed to a network in U.S (VERIZON). i missed my 10 tries to unlock cod and now the network doesn’t work in Egypt where i live. my question is: who can i unlock my bb after missing my 10 tries?
all thanks be to you in advance
@Moustapha After 10 tries you will have to have the device physically unlocked – it will not work with a code. Look for a tech that does manual unlocking.
No…. the device is not recognized by the desktop manager… tried that and didn’t work. I can hear a ‘crackle’ like an ‘arc’ when I connect the charger or USB to the port (nothing seen though). I have also tried to jumper the battery terminals to a modified USB cable to eliminate a charge port problem… no go…. what’s next?
Thanks for the support you provide so many of us!!!!
Hi , I have bb 9000 i left it charging last night and I went to sleep when I woke the screen is black doesnt wanna turn on. when I charge it red light comes up but after couple of mins it goes away then it show a battery sign charging .please help

@Ashley it sounds like you are not set up properly. I would contact the service provider and ask them to ensure your BlackBerry data plan is set up correctly.
I just downloaded the Blackberry App World on to my blackberry bold 9000, when i want to download games and applications it tells me to sign in to my Blackberry ID so i do but it stays on the same page, the one that says up top BlackBerry ID and shows your email, username, password and secret question.I dont know what to do from there though. So i click on the menu button and click on Featured View and it takes me back to the apps so i click on one that i like and again it tells me to sign in for me to download that app. It doesnt go any further than that. I need help please, thanx!
what do you do when your blackberry goes from
“BlackBerry

@ Cooper
hey again, i’ve tried the recovery site that you’ve posted up, and since I didn’t have an account on the site, So i’ve made one and now i can’t even post/download/anything on the site. Is there like an alternate link for it? or a different link for same downloads?
@ngoTraan I took a quick look through all the comments but I can not find the “recovery site” you are referring to. Please refresh my memory.
i recently downloaded an app from app world and a reset now or later option poped onto my screen, i selecet restart now.
my phone cannot fully turn on, when i pull the battery, the phone loads 3/4s of the way then freezes, i do not have a safe mode on my phone. what can i do toget into my phone and delete the app?
@erin You do have a safe mode see here: BlackBerry Safe Mode
i downloaded twitter on my blackberry out of the app folder and now its broken and says i havent got connection but my msn works fine and my facebook app comes up but with blank boxes in the post boxes and i dont know how to fix it
@nathalie – First try a battery pull. If that does not clear things up I suggest entering your TCP/APN settings:
http://www.blackberryfaq.com/index.php/Carrier_specific_APN/TCP_settings
please help me

http://www.blackberryos.com/forums/blackberry-how-guides/6175-how-recover-nuked-blackberry-pictures.html

@Sammy It sounds like it may have been nuked when the battery went completely dead. If you connect the BlackBerry to Desktop Manager does it recognize the device and your PIN?
my bb curve 8520 malfunctioning and Showing me “App error 523″ how to fix this error?
@Mutaz Check out this post for how to recover from BlackBerry App Error 523
hey i cannot send text messages from my black berry curve 8520 everytime i do it it says network out of order i already did the battery pull ”/
@jaycee I would contact your service provider to find out if there is any kind of connectivity issue with your specific device.
SMS is not handled over the BlackBerry network so it is most likely a problem on your carriers end.
@Cooper
no it doesn’t reconize it i allready tried what you told bb9000 to do and it dint work either what else do you think it might be please help me it blinks 1 time then it stops and it blinks 3 times i dont know what it might be but all i know is that i cant turn it on or nothing if you could please help me i would really appreciated
@sammy It sounds like your device is nuked – the suggested action would be to download BBSAK (BlackBerry Swiss Army Knife) and wipe your device:
http://bbsak.org/
I gotta problem which is like!.. when ever i wanna go like on my phone call list on my bold! like who i called who missed called me!.. the receive button just opens camera itself… i dont know why ? but any fix for that ?
@shahzayb Try pulling the battery from your device while it is powered on – replace it after a few minutes.
Let me know if that helps.
@cooper
but my blackberry won’t connect to my computer i don’t know why
so i can’t wipe out the device what else can i do???
please help me
Hi, I have a blackberry torch, it keeps turning off before the low or empty battery signal appears on the screen. When I charge it for a while it turns on and it shows that my battery is fully empty. Please HELP!
Can someone help me solve why I cannot use any applications that I download onto my blackberry? For instance this display when I try to access my Facebook application:
“You are currently on a service plan that does not support this application. If you want to use this application, please contact your service provider to upgrade your data plan.”
And YES, I do have data plan with AT&T and they don’t know why either. My data plan is perfectly fine.
Please help me out! I really want to access BB app world and use these apps!!
Thanks
@Ariel To be clear you need a BlackBerry Data Plan (BIS) to use most apps you download. It could very well be that you have a traditional data plan on your device which is not a specific BIS plan.
One easy way to tell if you have a BIS plan is if you have BBM and can message contacts through Messenger.
hi i have a storm, i got a new battery 4 it but as soon as it lost it charge it wont charge up the red light comes on abd it loads up but then goes off any help plz
@Dazza It sounds like you may have nuked your BlackBerry by accident. Try this to get it back in shape:
http://www.blackberryos.com/forums/blackberry-how-guides/6175-how-recover-nuked-blackberry-pictures.html
i have a blackberry curve 8520 and its not recieving calls. its just coming up you have 1 missed call everytime someone tries to phone me. and at the top it has a yellow/orange phone and its got an arrow going towards it then like bouncing away. do you know how to solve this?
@Ainsley Your BlackBerry has been set up to forward all calls somewhere…
To take off forwarding press – call button > menu > options > call forwarding > enter your voicemail number > menu > save
hi, i have recently got a blackberry curve 8520 and it has worked fine but sometimes the screen turns white and the whole phone shuts down. I do the battery thing and then it turns on but sometimes it just repeatedly turns itself off again, it is so annoying and I dont know what is wrong with it. please help!
@jess This is a common issue with many BlackBerry devices. Usually a battery pull fixes it.
If you find your device is doing it often enough that it is a problem I suggest sending it in to get a new one.
hi! i turned on my bluetooth to transfer some files to my laptop then suddenly the screen turned to black. i have removed its battery already and tried to turned it on again, but the same.
It will boot and show the welcome screen but afterwhich it would turn to black again. I know power is up cuz the red light turns on when i try to turn it off.
Appreciate any assistance you can give. I dont want to lose the data saved in my BB 9000 thus i dont want it to be reset :-(
@banggigay It sounds like your phone is nuked – if it is you will have to wipe it to get it working again. First connect to Desktop manager and see if your device is recognized.
If it is you can backup all your data before wiping it out.
Hey. I have this tumblr app in my Blackberry Bold 9700. it worked perfectly fine till one day i re-blogged something & it took forever! Literally! i cannot move to anything! i carnt eve log off,or go back to the menu.i tried taking the batt off & putting it backk in too! please help me! :’(
@Lutchanie Tumblr has had some issues recently which I believe to be a part of your problem. I suggest deleting the app and redownloading the most recent version.
Hey,
So heres what happened! I was taking a video and I guess my battery was all of a sudden dead when I was in the middle of recording, so I went and grabbed my charger ..it was doing its whole shut down thing when I plugged my phone in the puppy grabbed my cord and my blackberry fell onto the floor when I picked up my phone the screen was all white( I thought no biggie the screen has turned all white beforein fact earlier that day). so I took the battery out as it solved the problem last time, but this time it wont charge it wont even recongnize that it is being charged no red light no nothing, my desktop manager wont even read it… Is there anything I can do , is there a way I can get my phone to start charging again or fix it or is it completely done for ? Thanx very much . ( I have also tried letting it charge for over an hour and nothing) tried getting it to turn on ever which way )
@Blondie – It sounds to me like the phone dying was caused by a corrupted battery. Try heading over to a store and seeing if you can test your phone with one of their batteries that is known to be working.
Let me know if your phone boots – if yes then you need to buy a new battery.
So I had an extra battery from my old blackberry (same type). And charged it all up and it still wont turn on, its like it doesnt recongnize that theres power, even through direct wall charger, or usb port charge, no light comes on..nothing… its so strange..Is there anything else I could try ? I was reading on some forum that it could be a connector issue from the port to the button and something like electrical tape could fix it, if I brought it in to a store could they do something, Im using my old blackberry now, and it sucks! that ball is horrible in it!!!
My battery was dying really quickly so i deleted some apps of my bb9000 and it kinda worked, but the other day my battery died in about 4 hours and ever since then it takes over 5 hours for the battery to charges to 100% and only last a couple of hours, i even bought another bettery and it does the same thing, what do i do!!!
@Me9000 Do you have apps like Twitter and Facebook updating every few seconds? If yes change that to 20 minutes or so.
Let me know if that helps. It could also be caused by poor network reception if you are having signal issues.
my blackberry phone keeps on vibrating everyone minute.please nelp
my blackberry curve that i bought in agust has been freezing, not the screen just the trackpad, i can press it and so still get onto some applications but can’t scroll up, down or sideways. This problem has been happening on and off for a while and nothing i do seems to stop it. Recently another problem has risen, i’m overseas and so turned my roaming off and am only using the internet services when i’m able to connect to a nearby wifi and that has stopped working, i am still connected but no bbms are sending and i haven’t recieved any either
I need some help…I dropped my bb pearl and now all I get when I turn it on is a black screen and a steady red led.
@matt connect it to Desktop Manager and see if you can back it up. The LED indicates the unit is still functional so you may have damaged the connection to the screen when dropping it.
when i using my bb,it suddenly freeze,i pull the battery then, the phone reboots 3/4s of the way then freezes. what can i do toget into my phone? my bb type curve8520…
@manda Have you installed any apps recently? How much free device memory do you have? Options > Status
I would also look at any apps that are updating like twitter etc – change the updates so they come every 20 minutes or so.
after upgrade my BB8520..network problem..sometime can..and sometime searching network..i live at town..not village..how can settle this problem..
@ramzi I suggest downgrading back to the version of the OS that was not cutting in and out.
Hello
I recently observed that i have difficulties viewing or transferring pictures from my black berry curve 9700 device via any PC using the USB cable. The images appear unreadable as REM files but can be viewed on the device itself.
Please assist.
BR,
@valerie Check your settings to ensure you do not have content encryption enabled.
one of my bb contacts upgraded to a torch and when i added her to my contacts she’s there but every 2 days she disappears. I am not deleting her and neither is she? are our settings off or something?
hi, i have the black berry curve 8520 and the alt sign is coming up in the right hand corner and i am not holding down alt atall. i have tryed everything for over an hour and cannot get onto my phone as i cant type my password in because it’s on alt. please help?
@Alice Have you tried pulling the battery?
Hi my BB keeps vibrating every few seconds and the download icon remains on the screen but I cannot find what it is “downloading”. Each time it vibrates the timer appears briefly on screen. HELP please!!! Has anyone experienced this and know how to solve it???
@BBAngel I would check out apps that are updating in the background like Twitter and Facebook etc – change the update interval to 20 minutes.
Let me know if that solves it.
hey.
i have a blackberry bold 9700. my problem is that i cant call or text i cant even revsive calls it tell me (authorisation failure). what do i do to make it work please help.
@monica That sounds like a problem with your SIM card to me. Contact your carrier and ask them to resend your service books and ensure your device is set up properly. If needed ask them for a new SIM.
Is there any way to open it up and find out if I did damage the connection to the screen…my laptop wont recognize the bb when I plug it into the usb, it says it does not recognize the device
@Matt sure you can open it – search youtube for your device model and tear down or take apart to find instructions.
hi, i have a blackberry 8900 curve and i had bought last year and since then i had no problem in it at all. but recently from last 1 month or so my device has been acting all funny.. while i am talkin on the phone i hear some crackle voice and the screen goes white n it turns off.. and i take out the battery and try rebooting it bt still the screen is all white until i dont put it on charge it does not start.. please suggest what i can do with it as its very annoying.. thanks
@sweety This sounds like it could be a number of things –
1) did your phone get wet?
2) Do you have enough free device memory – the phone can become unstable if it gets too full.
I suggest deleting some apps and upgrading your OS if possible. That should get it stable again.
Everytime i open my camera it always say you must close other aplications what does that mean
@Sasha The camera in use error message is common and usually shows up when your device is running low on memory.
I suggest deleting some unused apps or themes etc to free up some space.
Hey, my bb onyx restarting by itself and someday it turn off and it can’t turn on again. when i charging it, the led light turn on. but when i pull off the charger, the led light turn off. what should I do? Help me :’(
@rasya I suggest wiping your device and reloading the OS.
I have a picture that I can’t delete because my bb says the file is in use?? How do I delete it??
