A few months back we discussed deleting BlackBerry Maps from your device in order to free up memory. Honestly, it’s not the best map program out there, certainly not as good as Google Maps for Mobile. Yet, now BlackBerry Maps serves a function for Verizon users, who saw their GPS units uncrippled recently. If you’ve deleted BlackBerry Maps already, you might want it back now.
At first, I thought that maybe it would be the same method as re-adding your BlackBerry browser. Then I thought better of it. No way you can just go to your Host Routing Tables and have them re-send an application like BlackBerry Maps. (Incidentally, if you can do that, let me know.) Thankfully, RIM has made it simple. Just go to this page, where you’ll find a link to download BlackBerry Maps. Note that you need to be on Internet Explorer to do this. Seriously? Internet Explorer-only?

Hi, I am desperately trying to get BB Maps back onto my phone so that Facebook Places will work… I tried to use the website to re-download blackberry maps (I deleted it in favour of google maps some time ago) but it’s just not working!! Any suggestions?
@NN Disconnect from the internet, open DM, connect you phone, click App Loader and then check the box for BB maps, click next and it should load it.
If not read this: http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=KB12723
I can’t reinstall BlackBerry Maps as it saves the application in the name of lbs_ribbon, version – 0.9 and size 10KB. Even the Maps icon doesn’t show in the menu. What do I do?
@Abha The icon should display on your phone and be functional after you have a) downloaded the ribbon and b) rebooted the device.
Try pulling your battery – is the icon working after that?
if you have a mac, the desktop software does not work the same way as the windows version – i have tried downloading the lbs_ribbon thing about a million times and followed the suggested steps after that, nothing is working. it woulda been nice to know i needed the blackberry maps app to use all features of bb traffic :(
@Cooper,I have a similar problem as Abha. I have downloaded BB maps and it shows under the aplication management. However, the icon is not on my home screen or any other folder (nor is it hidden) even after re-boot and battery pull.
Any ideas?
@gus Update your OS to the most recent version and all should go back to normal. It seems that every once in a while the device gets confused.
Please i tried to update my blackberry curve device from Version 4.6 to V5.0 without success. thereafter, i noticed that my BB messenger icon was lost while the V4.6 still shows in my application. Can someone pls direct me on how to re-install my BBM icon?

I can’t even start the download. It says that my phone didn’t meet the system requirements. I’m using a Curve 9360… What else could it be possibly lacking? And my bb had it in the first place. So why is it telling me that it can’t be installed now?
