How to move icons on your BlackBerry desktop

by on September 23, 2008

This might seem obvious to you BlackBerry vets out there. After talking to my Verizon rep this weekend, though, I think it’s a worthy post. In shooting the breeze about new BlackBerry developments, we got to talking about troubleshooting. She then said something that kinda shocked me.

“You know, the most frequent question I get is, how do you move icons on the desktop?”

So today we’ll go over this question. Hopefully anyone looking for an answer will find this useful.

When your full applications menu is open, highlight the icon you want to move and hit the Menu button. This will bring up a small menu in the the bottom left of your screen:

Select Move. You can then drag the icon with the trackball. Move it to wherever you’d like, and click in the trackball again when you’re done.

Note that moving an icon further up will push subsequent icons back, and that moving an icon down will move the preceding icons up. It might take a while for you to get your desktop right, in other words.

Haha…you’d laugh out loud if you knew how long it took me to figure that out! I got my fist bb yesterday, so that long but I was definatly not thinking outside the box…these phones amaze me as I just upgraded from an old Nokia with a black and grey screen so it’s blowing my mind right now! You cannot ever ask a stupid question but i think a lot of people thought this was the dumbest of the dumb, but it helped me heaps and i thank you, kind sir!
