How to find your BlackBerry PIN number

Today we continue dropping some basic BlackBerry knowledge. Yesterday we discussed how to move icons on your desktop. Today, we’ll discover where to find your BlackBerry PIN. This can be an important number to know, or at least be able to locate. The easiest method of adding BlackBerry Messenger contacts is with your PIN.

Open up your full applications menu, and go to Options. Then go to Status. Your PIN is right there. I wish it was more complicated, so I could explain it a bit further. Alas, it’s that simple. A couple of screenshots after the jump.

If you have a Curve u can also press the key combination “ALT + LSHIFT + H” from the home screen to go directly to that section.

“ALT+LSHIFT+H” or “ALT+RSHIFT+H” should work on any QWERTY Blackberry. I used to know the key sequence for SureType devices but it escapes me as I type this…

Im new to the blackberry world so I apologize if this is a stupid question. I know how to get my pin but when I go to enter it in my address book, it only lets me enter in numberica characters. My pin and my ocntacts pin are alpha-numeric. Don’t know what to do. It has a number lock or something..

i have tried everything and I still cannot fin my pin…I just got a Curve 3 day ago….i go to pplications and o where does it say STATUS….ad going to the notepad and typing mypin doesn’t work either

If the Blackberry is locked, you can remove the Battery and find the PIN number just below the BAR CODE.

Can the pin# be used for anything else other than device to device messaging?

I guess then the next question is can somebody that you are messaging with use a pin number to add applications or do whatever(something malicious), I just don’t want to give the pin out if there is a security issue with it being known by others.

Cooper October 28, 2010 at 10:13 am: @chuck I do not know of any mac software specifically but if you google “mac convert video to mp3″ you should get a bunch of software suggestions. I would look for free trials so you can test it out before purchase.

I am a complete novice at this guys i would need a step by step guide on how to pair and all that , am like a 2 year old when it comes computers and fone technology unless am being prompted by a sign or instructions to click here or move there , am stuck staring at the screen for what next( shameful ) i know.

Your BlackBerry will automatically convert that string of letters into your BlackBerry PIN number.

Cooper February 10, 2011 at 11:25 am: @Sam P Your BlackBerry is assigned a PIN by RIM. To find yours just go to any place you can type on your blackberry and type mypin – it will change into your actual PIN #

You can then share that with friends and communicate through BlackBerry Messenger (BBM)

You will need a BlackBerry Data Plan (BIS) in order to use BBM and PIN messaging.

It should automatically convert it into your actual PIN number. If you do not have BBM status visible you may be using an older version of BlackBerry Messenger.
