We went over how to change the wallpaper on your BlackBerry a while back, but today we’re going to talk about changing your theme as a whole. On the 8700, go to options > theme > mouse over the theme you’d like to use > click the trackwheel > choose activate > exit to the home screen – totally simply process! The process for changing the theme on your BlackBerry 8800 is identical, except that you don’t need to to click activate (when you click on the theme, it will automatically change). Now, of course, the only themes you’ll have pre-installed on your BlackBerry are the defaults. So what if you want a different theme? On the 8700, when you’re in the themes list, instead of choosing activate when you click in the trackwheel, chose “download themes” (this will take you online, so you’ll incur data usage). On the 8800, click the menu key and then choose “download themes” (again with the data charges). This will take you to mobile.blackberry.com where you’ll be required to read and accept some terms and conditions. Once you accept the terms, you’ll be taken to the theme catalog. If there are themes available for your BlackBerry device and OS (hint, hint RIM, get some for the 8800 OS 4.2), then they’ll be shown in the list. If you like any, click the download button. The themes that appear on this main page are free (and therefore limited), but you’ll also see a link at the top of the page that says, “more themes from bplay”. Click that link to be taken to the Bplay website and then click the themes link. You’ll be taken to a huge listing of BlackBerry themes, most priced between $1.99 and $5.99. Upon downloading any theme, it will (should) appear in the listing of themes you can choose from when changing themes as instructed above. Of course, you can also download themes onto your BB from other websites as well (such as Crackberry), but you’ll want to be sure you trust the source before downloading it onto your BlackBerry, just like you would onto your computer. Additionally, you can also find the theme you’d like on your computer, purchase it and have the download link sent to your email which you can then access from your BlackBerry and download – many times this is the preferred option for those on limited data plans or those who want to see themes on a larger screen before purchasing. You can also download a BlackBerry theme to your personal computer and transfer it to your BlackBerry using your BlackBerry Desktop Manager, but that’s a bit more complicated, so we’ll leave that for the next quick tip!

I downloaded a theme, it said it downloaded to my media card, now i cant find it, where should it be?
I downloaded a theme from crackberry, but it didn’t add to the list of themes. However, it does show up in the applications list…what do i do?
@Shanna Usually that happens when you download a theme that is not compatible with your device. Double check that you are getting the right version.
You can delete the current theme by highlighting it in your applications list and hitting menu > delete.
Just a heads up – as much as we love crackberry, we also have tons of themes available in our store (same ones they have).

Just follow the same instructions, lilly, and choose the theme that came with your BlackBerry. It might not be marked, so you might have to guess. But there should only be two or three to choose from.
