Snicker if you must, but there are a lot of people who 1. don’t know how to do this because they 2. hate to read directions that are part of a “huge” manual. We won’t mention who in our office was the reason we know 1 and 2 above to be true. Changing the background (also known as wallpaper) for the home screen on your BlackBerry 8800 series is a simple task. Click on the media icon and then mouse over the pictures icon and press down on the trackball. Choose the folder that contains the picture you’d like to set as your background image and click the trackball. Note, if you’re using a custom picture you’ve put onto the BB then this will be the “device memory” folder for most users. If you’d like to change the home screen to another image of those that came with the BlackBerry, then the folder you want will be “preloaded pictures”. Mouse over the picture you’d like to use as your background image and hit the menu key. From the menu screen, choose “set as home screen image”. Now hit the escape key until you’re back at the home screen and you’ll see the image has changed to whatever you’ve chosen.

Thanks, I dig my Curve 8330. Found out how to put it on silent, find my media (pics etc.) and change the background. Man I’m old. Wait til I figure out the important stuff. It rules!
