In celebration of BBGeeks’ four-year anniversary, and in celebration of my first real vacation in six years, we’re reaching into our archives and hoisting some quick tips that we haven’t revisited in a while. These are the bare bones essentials, so if you’re a long-time geek you’ll probably know these. If you’re new, take notes. They can make your life easier. Friends used to get confused back in the day, because they’d sometimes get emails from addressed they didn’t exactly recognize. They were from me, clearly — when you see Pawlikowski in an address you can pretty much assume it — but it wasn’t from my normal address. That’s because I had the wrong BlackBerry email address set to the default. You might have experienced something similar, but involving adding an event to the wrong calendar. Thankfully, there’s a quick BlackBerry option that lets you take control of that. In the old operating systems, you go to Options -> Advanced -> Default Services. In OS 6 it’s under Device -> Advanced System Settings -> Default Services. There you will see a screen where you can select your default Calendar, Contact list, and Messaging. This way you can set your default email to your most frequently used, saving some confusion. You can also change your default calendar to any of those email addresses — or you can change it to your Facebook calendar.

I have a new blackberry torch but the set up wizard is not accepting my username and password for my email set up. Saying it has been used by someone else. Please help me with that. Thanks!
