Paperboy makes an appearance on BlackBerry

by on December 24, 2009

I don’t think I’d be alone in listing Paperboy as one of my favorite childhood games. I was a bit young to enjoy it during its arcade run, but I certainly had the Nintendo version, and even dust off my old copy once in a while (when my NES actually works). It was also one of the first games I downloaded in college when I realized the brilliance of NES emulators. Now you can get that same experience on your BlackBerry. Elite Systems Group has released an officially licensed version for your BlackBerry. There’s really not much to describe with this game. You basically ride down the street and toss papers to subscribers, breaking windows along the way. Just watch out for the mower with a mind of its own, and especially that old hag who chases you down the street. Again, there’s no need to go any deeper than that. Anyone who buys this game is already familiar with it. I doubt any young’uns will enjoy our nostalgia ride. You can get Paperboy at App World for $4.99. It is compatible with most BlackBerry models, from the Pearl through the Tour. According to the App World page, however, it’s not available for the Bolds 9000 and 9700. I wonder if that’s just an oversight.

Wow, now this brings back angry memories, lol. Just thinking of almost making it to the obstacle course and losing your last life… I miss those days of furiously trying to complete another day. $4.99 isn’t too shaby either!
