Glu Mobile Inc., a big-time mobiles games publisher, has announced a partnership with BPlay to bring a selection of it’s extensive game library to BlackBerry users. So now you can recreate your days of taking calculus by playing Tetris when you’re supposed to be getting some work done. Workplace productivity futures took a sharp hit upon announcement of the partnership.
The list of games is tantalizingly nostalgic: “MONOPOLY, TRANSFORMERS, Deer Hunter 2 Mobile, Centipede, HOYLE 4-in-1 Rummy Pro, and Diner Dash” We’re not going to lie: we’re most excited about Centipede. We remember the days of learning QBASIC, and doing little but play that game (wow, Centipede in programming class, Tetris in calculus class…we were slackers!).
Really, though, this is just another sign of BlackBerry moving from a “for-business” tool to a “for-everyone” toy. Research In Motion knows that’s the market that the iPhone is trying to hit, so why not try to offer an alternative to them? After all, if you don’t have AT&T, you don’t have an iPhone. However, plenty of carriers support the BlackBerry.
Update: Check out a bunch of games for your BlackBerry at the BBGeeks Store.
