XTop Mobile creates a connection between your BlackBerry and PC

by on January 24, 2011

It used to be that BlackBerry devices and other PDAs were meant for traveling employees. These devices represented an easy way for them to stay in contact while on the road. That has clearly changed in recent years. Now people who sit at desks all day have smartphones. I’m not sure how everyone uses their smartphone while at work, but unless I’m doing work on my BlackBerry I don’t use it too frequently. XTop Mobile could change my relationship with my device — well, it would, if I had a PC. The app allows you to access content and functions of your BlackBerry, right on your PC.

The app just launched as a public beta, and here is what it can do: For 30 days you’ll be able to do all this through the beta program, free of charge. The company does plan to make this a premium app when it launches in full next month, but at least by then you’ll know whether or not the app works for you. They say that the full app will include tethering, among other new features. To sign up, just go to XTopMobile.com and follow the download instructions. It will work with BlackBerry devices running OS 4.5 and above — though they do leave out OS 4.6. For the PC it requires Windows XP, Vista, or 7, .Net Framwork 2.0 or 3.5, and a Bluetooth receiver. My BlackBerry Camera is giving a 200 error, indicating that another application is open and needs to be closed before I can use the camera feature, however there are no other applications opened on the phone… CURVE 8300. help…

@Richell This is usually caused by a memory issue. Do a battery pull to see if you can use the camera right away. If you still get the error try deleting some things from your device memory (not sd card) and the camera should start working again.
