It happens all the time. You’re listening to the radio or are out in a public place which plays music. A song rings through the speakers, and you really dig the tune. Only problem is, you have no idea who is singing it or what the song is called. Even worse, the song gets stuck in your head, and if you’re like me you don’t possess the vocal qualities to sing it. Thankfully, we’ve seen software releases lately that cure this ailment. You can hold your phone up to a speaker and the service will return the song and artist. Today we’ll introduce Nobex Radio Companion, a music identification service for your BlackBerry.
The best part of this application, other than its ability to identify songs, is that it’s free. You can download the application in three ways. First you can point your BlackBerry browser to nobexrc.com/download. You can also enter your email address on the download page, and they’ll send you a link. Finally, you can perform the operation with BlackBerry Desktop Manager. For some reason, I missed the actual release of this. Ryan at CrackBerry wrote a comprehensive review of this back in November. The only reason I bring it up now is because I got an email from Nobex, and thought it was too cool not to share. Even better: When you download Nobex Radio Companion, you’ll also get free access to their streaming radio service. That’s only for a limited time, as they’re using it as an enticer for now, but will move it to a subscription service in the future. So long as the song identifier remains free, I’ll be totally fine with this.
What song is that? Find out with Nobex Radio Companion

Great find, I do not know how many people knew about this, but I sure did not. Thanks!
Sorry mate, but i think you are wrong. This application does not tell you what song is right now on radio, i mean, you can’t put in front of the speaker because it will do nothing, what the application does is to send you an email with the information of the song which sounding in a particular radio station. So try it again.
This is not a program for music ID. This is just a streaming radio player. It will tell you what is playing on a paticular station and can play select stations but that is it. You can not find the name of a song just randomly playing somewhere.
How do you use the song identifier? I like being able to play songs from the radio but the only reason I downloaded was to identify songs.
stupid why it say can identifly music id?
I should have read the comments before downloading this app. Just like many others, i downloaded and installed this app cause I thought it would act as a song identifier, boy I was wrong! The truth is, this app just let’s you play the different raddio stations that it comes with. And that’s it.
Don’t expect to put your phone infront of a speaker/radio and expect this app to identify the song being played.
