It wasn’t more than a week ago that we lamented the lack of image editing options available for the BlackBerry. There were a couple of decent apps, but nothing that stood out — nothing like, say, Photoshop Express. There was one app that I apparently missed in my travels. Radical Draw gives you much more control over the image editing process. Last week it was available only for the Storm, but now it is available to devices with 480×360 resolution and that run OS 5. If you’re looking for a relatively powerful image editing app, I think this is the one.
Like the other applications we featured, Radical Draw contains the basic image editing features I’d consider necessary for any BlackBerry image app: rotate and crop. Without those what’s the point of an image editing app? But beyond that Radical Draw allows you to customize the images. The ability to draw different types of lines and shapes means this app stands out from the crowd. With those features you can not only make personal alterations to photos, but you can also start your own drawings from scratch. I’m not sure how attractive an image you can draw using a trackball or touchscreen, but it is an available option. You can also insert other photos on your BlackBerry into an existing one. This feature includes clip art, which you can purchase from Radical Draw. If you want a bit more control over the image editing process, you can get Radical Draw for $7.99. It is compatible with the BlackBerry Storm, Tour 9630, Bolds 9650 and 9700, and the Curve 8900. You must run OS 5 in order to use this app. Hat tip: BerryReview.
