Protect photos on your BlackBerry with The Vault Pro

by on July 23, 2012

Last we spoke, right before a mini weekend trip, I wrote about Stealth Book, an app that keeps hidden certain contacts and messages threads. It’s great for when other people have access to your BlackBerry, or can gain access to your device. They can go snooping, but unless they know the secret code they won’t be finding anything you’ve hidden with Stealth Book. Yet there might be other things you want to hide from prying eyes. With the app The Vault Pro, you can also hide pictures. The developer, The Jared Company, advertises The Vault Pro as an app that can securely store photos of your credit cards, driver’s license, and other sensitive documents. In fact, their biggest selling point is that it guards against your wallet being stolen or lost. And you know what? That is a creative use of the app. But at its core, The Vault simply hides some photos in your library from general view. Once you place a photo in The Vault, it cannot come out. You can’t send it via email or other form of message. You can’t even copy it to your main BlackBerry storage. So even if someone does manage to break into your BlackBerry and find the photos in The Vault, they can’t make copies of them. The best they can do is write down the information. But that doesn’t help if its salacious pictures you’re storing. (Also, if someone goes through the pains to find your BlackBerry device password, and then the password to The Vault, I really have to wonder what kind of information you’re storing on your BlackBerry.) Anyone concerned about BlackBerry security should absolutely check out an app like The Vault. It’s available at App World for 99 cents. So you can actually grab both The Vault and Stealth Book for just two bucks. For the level of security they provide I’d say that’s a worthy investment. Via BlackBerry Cool.
