We usually try to highlight useful apps in this space. As we say, we’re trying to get the most out of our BlackBerry devices. But sometimes we like to kick back and have some fun. Over the weekend I browsed through App World and came across an app called Pencil Camera in the featured section. It sounded interesting, and sure enough it does look like a little fun. Essentially, you use the app to snap pictures, which are then converted into pencil sketches. It’s really as simple as that.
As you can see, it’s a pretty accurate rendering. The app can even shrink down the image size, making the file sizes smaller. The only downside to this app is that it doesn’t have settings for various pencil styles. It would be neat, for instance, if they could use different hatchings to create pictures in a different way. But that seems to be asking a lot, especially for an app that already significantly alters an image. You can get Pencil Camera in App World for $2.99.
