Pandora finally available for BlackBerry

by on March 18, 2009

There is no single website I spend more time on than Pandora. For those unfamiliar, it’s a free streaming music service which uses the Music Genome Project to determine which attributes of music you prefer. Then it streams back songs it thinks you’ll like while giving you the ability to rate songs, making the engine even more accurate in picking your favorite tunes (I rarely skip anymore after about a year of use). It’s data-heavy, so it is only recommended for those with unlimited data plans (I officially recant this post). I got the scoop from BGR, who said that their only complaint was the delay in track skipping. I suppose that’s because of the mobile connection vs. the broadband connection. Still, it’s great. Just head to Pandora.com from your BlackBerry browser and download it. You’ll never load MP3s on your phone again.

It is like a dream come true. There is a small delay in track skipping but not too bad.

This is amazing. Less than a week after I get my BlackBerry this happens. I wonder how people who’ve had theirs much longer feel.

I love this program, but I have one problem with it. When my firewall is activated, I get a message saying “the application has tried to open a connection inside the firewall and outside the firewall which is not allowed by your IT policy”. Are there any remedies for this (other than deactivating the firewall)?

“You’ll never load MP3s on your phone again”

I beg to differ unless they also offer caching ala slacker without the crashiness. The builtin player also let’s you resume playing after interruption and song skip using bluetooth headphones with the right profile. Streaming only makes sense to me if you’re tethered to external power.

For all of you out there who are digging applications like Pandora, there is also I Heart Radio! Up until very very recently, I Heart Radio was only for iPhone, but I’ve been using the I Heart Radio app for about a week and a half and I can say that I heart I heart radio! ha, ok sorry for the pun. But really, for example, it’s great because I jog ina local park and it’s great to keep my phone as my listening device without having to store so much media on my phone. Check it out at http://www.iheartradio.com

Hey, when I use S9-HD with Pandora, it cuts out through the whole song. No matter how close my bb is to the headset. Anyone have this issue or know how to correct it? Thanks
