When Rae wrote about the TwitterBerry application for BlackBerry, she listed a number of features she’d like to see in an updated version. Well, there’s a new version out, so we can take a look to see what’s new.
First on the list: Ability to direct message. That’s a yes. You can also view direct messages that you’ve sent and received, so that takes care of her second request. But that’s about all she got. You cannot favorite entries and access favorites; you cannot add new people; and you don’t have the ability to get more than one page of replies or timelines. You can now view your friends list, which is a plus. The new version also fixed error messages coming from Twitter. The downside to the new version, though, is that BES connections are no longer supported. TwitterBerry 0.6 is available here. Let us know what you think.

I already use Twitterberry on my Pearl. The additional features are exactly what I was hoping for. Now I can pretty much see everything I see on the website.
The one-page limit of viewable tweets is due to the Twitter API’s lack of a way to access more tweets, not orangatame’s fault =/
I still want to be able to @reply when clicking on a Tweet in my friends timeline, and get better integration similar to Facebook or something to alert me when I get tweets, I’d rather use Twitterberry for everything twitter and turn off SMS, ya digg?
The direct message addition is great… it is a little awkward though… i.e. if I get a direct message, I can read it by viewing “direct messages” but to reply, I can’t just hit reply… I have to go to my friends list, find the person and then send a direct message that way. If you follow a lot of people, that is gonna be a lot of downloading…so a tip would be to simply use the “d” shortcut … “d friendsname your message here” with no quotes from your main update screen will send a direct message.

So, that leaves the following still to fulfill from my original list:
* the ability to favorite entries and to also be able to access your favorites
* the ability to add new people you’d like to follow
and I’d like to add a request to:
*be able to delete updates from the app

Also just noticed now that the Twitterberry updates now show as being from Twitterberry instead of just from the web… awesome.
I’d like to see the status text wrap. On my Pearl I have to click the trackball to see all of the text for each update, which makes the app basically useless unless I want my thumb to fall off. With that one change it would be brilliant!
I’m seeing errors when replying on v.6. Tried v.7 (Beta) and it’s really not ready to go…
I’d like to see an app that will allow tweets to come in to it and alert rather than through SMS…anyone know of one???
