Measure anything, anywhere, with your BlackBerry

by on October 12, 2011

Serious problems abound in the BlackBerry world. An outage that started in the EMEA region on Monday has reportedly spread across oceans and has now taken hold in North and South America. That might make it tough for you to do anything on your BlackBerry. Yet we know, as always, that service will return soon enough. And when it does, you might want to check out a new app from the store. It turns your BlackBerry into a nifty measurement tool. Advanced Ruler for BlackBerry works as you might expect. The screen displays the measurement units in both inches and centimeters, as you’d expect from a normal straightedge. You can limit your measuring to things smaller than the BlackBerry’s screen, or you can move the device, and the app, to continue measuring longer things. It might not be the easiest measurement method, but unless you carry a ruler in your pocket it’s certainly better than estimating. Truth told, this probably works better on a full touchscreen device than the keyboard-driven ones. The extra length means you can measure more things without moving to another screen. But even if you have a Bold or a Curve you can find use for this app. It’s one of those things that will pop up at some point, making you thankful that you have the app. You can get the Advanced Ruler for BlackBerry app for just $1.99.
