Get Beejive IM client for BlackBerry at a discount

by on February 24, 2009

It was now over a year ago that we dove into some messaging clients for BlackBerry. Tucked away at the bottom of the list is Beejive, an all-in-one IM client which cost $29.95. The price is really what stuck it at the bottom — as you can see in the post we tried to keep it to free applications. Now, and as they say for the first time, the client will be discounted by $5. This is in anticipation of a new release, which we’ll see “in just a few more weeks,” according to CEO Kai Yu. We’ve got all the details of the sale after the jump. Beejive covers most of the major instant messaging platforms. This includes AIM, iChat/MobileMe, MSN/Windows Live Messenger, Yahoo!, MySpace, GoogleTalk, SameTime, ICQ, and Jabber. That covers most of the major bases as far as IMing platforms go. There is, of course, the matter of the price. The application is available for $14.95, down $5 from the original price, but there’s a catch. If you change devices, that’s it. You’ve got to pay for it again if you want to put it on your new device. Ouch. You do have the option, however, of paying $24.95, down $5 as well, to get a User License. This allows you to transfer the application to a new device, though you can only use it on one device at a time. When the new version of Beejive comes out, it will be a free upgrade for current users. This is just a promo to get people on board in advance of the launch. It should help their initial numbers, at the very least. You can get it at beejive.com/blackberry.

I guess this is pretty cool if you belong to all those different IM platforms and must have them on your BB. I barely use IM so google and/or yahoo fit the bill nicely.. as in “no bill”.. as in “free”.. like “beer” :-)
