Chat while you work with Popup For BBM

by on August 1, 2012

BlackBerry notifications are great, no doubt. Whenever you get a new message, you’ll see the notification from pretty much any other app. Of course, you have to switch away from that app in order to actually see the notification. Apps such as BerryPopup and EMail++ let you read incoming emails while in other apps, but I hadn’t seen a similar solution for BBM until recently. The app Popup For BBM takes care of that function pretty seamlessly. When you have the app enabled and received a new BBM, you’ll see a popup that notes the sender and the message. You can then reply fright from there, which removes the window and puts you right back where you left off. Each time you receive a new message, you’ll get that popup and have the option to reply without switching to BBM. If there is one major drawback to the app, it’s that you have to link your BBM contacts to your phone contacts. Well, it’s not really a requirement, but it’s how Popup For BBM will identify the sender. As one reviewer puts it, “for people who have lots of contacts it is a very big problem.” Those of us who keep trimmed down contact lists, that might not be as much of a problem. Other than that, the only downside is that the app will probably distract you when you don’t want to be distracted. There will be times when you have to go in and shut off Popup For BBM, lest you go insane from all the popups. You won’t spend much on Popup For BBM, either. You can get it at App World for just a buck.
