Another way to take screenshots on your BlackBerry — free

by on November 18, 2008

A while back, we talked about SnapScreen, a premium application which can take screenshots of your BlackBerry. This is an alternative to the awesome BBScreenShooter, which is available only to PC users running the JavaLoader application. For us Mac users, SnapScreen looks like the best deal. If you’re in the market for a free application for your screenshots, though, you can check out CaptureIt, available from TechMogul Industries (hat tip to Ronen). It works in almost the same way as SnapScreen. You can add an option to the menu, which will allow you to take a shot of whatever is on the screen — minus the menu of course. I ran into this problem the first time I tried SnapScreen, but was quickly pointed to the convenience key. You can do the same with CaptureIt. And as an added bonus, this application vibrates when you take the screenshot. Though I’m not sure what kind of benefit that provides… It works on OS 4.3 and up, so be sure you’re up to date if you want to download this. You can nab it OTA at http://www.thetechmogul.com/CaptureIt/CaptureIt.jad. You can also download the ZIP file and sideload it.

Great app. I’ve found it doesn’t work in a few apps (Opera, BeeJiveIM) even when assigned to a convenience key. Too bad because it would be excellent if it worked everywhere.
