Add new fonts to your BlackBerry with FontCollection

by on December 27, 2010

As anyone who reads our bi-weekly BlackBerry theme feature knows, I am not a big fan of non-standard fonts. They end up taking attention away from the actual text. And since we have BlackBerry devices so that we can read, among other things, emails while on the go, I think that a straight forward font works best. But I don’t represent all BlackBerry users. Plenty of people enjoy off-beat fonts and can concentrate on the text just fine. Those users are in luck today, because we’re featuring an app that can add a number of fonts to your device. With FontCollection you get access to more than 60 different BlackBerry fonts. It doesn’t put them right on your device, though that’s a good thing. Font files can take up valuable memory. Instead it gives you access to a list of fonts, which you can download. You can even set it as your default font immediately after download and installation. If you have downloaded multiple fonts from FontCollection, make sure to read our quick tip on changing your BlackBerry font. It’s a quick process that will take you about three seconds. From there you can select among all the fonts on your device, including the ones you just installed from this app. That way you can keep cycling through them. I do suggest, however, that you delete unused fonts, since it can save memory. You can uninstall the fonts from FontCollection right from the application. BlackBerry users who want to add fonts to their devices can get FontCollection for 99 cents at the BBGeeks Store.
