Add features to your text messages with crunchSMS

Even as the BlackBerry platform has evolved, its state of the art messaging system has remained mostly in tact. That is, the manner in which you send, receive, and manage messages has remained largely unchanged, save for a few cosmetic tweaks. The system is still in place. Yet there is one aspect of messaging that RIM has changed significantly in the past few years: SMS. The BlackBerry SMS system is now fairly modern, with easy to follow dialog and long-term archives. Still, there are always more features to add. That’s why we have third party developers. If you’re looking to beef up your SMS experience, crunchSMS provides the solution. While crunchSMS has a number of features, the best is the quick reply option. I’ve become a huge fan of pop-up messages lately, because it means I don’t have to leave the current screen in order to see a message. This might not be ideal for heavy email volume, but it works very well for SMS. When you receive a text message through crunchSMS you can reply from the screen you’re on, and then continue with what you were doing. Another excellent features: blacklisting. There will inevitably come a time when you get texts from someone you just don’t want to speak with. It happens to all of us. Blacklisting is nice, because you’ll never see those messages. Even better, you can show them later: “See, I never even got your messages.” It’s deceptive, but it’s effective. There are plenty of other features as well, such as multi-colored text bubbles, a host of emoticons — called emoji icons — signatures, and more. This is the perfect app to really dig into, because it’s free. You can download crunchSMS right from App World. You’ll have seven days to play around before you start seeing an ad banner pop up. At that point you can either deal with the ad, or you can purchase a license for $5.99. You can do this at any time. Also, make sure to check out the FAQ, as it covers many issues. Particularly, make sure you check out this part:
