Add a reminder to your call screen with PhoneMate

by on June 1, 2011

It can be one of the most embarrassing situations. You receive a phone call and then are blindsided with something you should know, but clearly forgot. The awkward silence can sting. Maybe it was a birthday, a special occasion, or something you were supposed to do. In any case, you’re not in a good position. Wouldn’t it be nice to have a simple reminder of what you might need to remember right on the call screen? I know there are a couple of apps that do that, but there’s a new, cheap one in the store I’d like to highlight. PhoneMate can really get you out of a jam. The application, as you might imagine, works in a pretty straight forward manner. You open it up, select the contact, and then choose birthday, anniversary, or custom note. You can also change the display settings, from the font to the icon used. To set the content of the display — that is, the date or the note — you have to fill out the fields in the contact’s profile. That is, you don’t really enter anything into the PhoneMate app. Rather, you just choose the fields you want to display. In the contact profile, there are fields for birthday, anniversary, and notes. There is also room for a number of custom fields. Make sure these are filled out in the contact profile and checked in PhoneMate, and they’ll display when you get a call from them. That way you know what’s up — and you know when to not answer. If you want to get that reminder when someone calls you, you can get PhoneMate for just a buck.
