Using a pouch to protect your BlackBerry

by on October 27, 2011

If you want to ensure a long life for your BlackBerry, you’re best off getting a protective case. We’ve reviewed plenty of quality cases on BBGeeks, and we continue to recommend awesome cases from OtterBox and Seido. But we’re also sympathetic to those of you who consider a case a burden. I often tote around my BlackBerry, caseless, in my pocket. It’s kind of bulky as it is, so I don’t want to cause any further discomfort by adding a case’s girth. But there might be a solution for guys who carry their BlackBerrys in their pockets, and even gals who carry them in their purses. Lately I’ve been turned onto the idea of a pouch for my Blackberry. It won’t provide much protection against drops and other impacts. That’s the downside. The upside is that it can provide protection against nicks and dents while in my pocket. This is a bit more important now with the touchscreen devices RIM released recently. I’d imagine protecting the screen of a 9930 is more important than protecting the one on a 9650. All the while, the pouch isn’t creating too much extra bulk in my pocket. That’s because I chose the koskin pocket pouch. That’s a bit thinner and lighter than the leather and synthetic pouches. It does create one extra step when accessing my BlackBerry, but hey, life is all about trade-offs. I don’t want the bulk of a case, so I have to find an alternative lest my BlackBerry go unprotected. The koskin pouch is a good compromise for me. If you’re sick of your case and want a thinner, lighter alternative you can check out our selection of BlackBerry pouches. There’s bound to be one for you. Just make sure to click the Select Device link atop the screen, to make sure you get the right one for your BlackBerry.
