Smart Phone Sleeper: For when your bedside table isn’t enough
by Joe Pawlikowski on March 1, 2012
Do you sleep with your BlackBerry next to you? Don’t feel bad if you do. I’m sure that a good portion, perhaps a majority, of BBGeeks readers do the same. It’s not like your binky, which you curled up with as a kid. It’s more of a functional thing. I read email before I go to bed and when I wake up, and I use my BlackBerry as an alarm. Therefore, I keep it on my bedside table, which is right near my noggin. For some people, however, that isn’t enough. I just saw an accessory called the Smart Phone Sleeper, and it takes BlackBerry to new heights in your bed.

In essence, the thing is just a
BlackBerry car mount with a small modification. It uses the same holster design as many car mounts, and uses the same gooseneck. The only difference is in how it connects. While car mounts use a suction cup on the windshield or dash, or even an air vent, to stabilize themselves, the Sleeper anchors itself under your mattress. Just slide the base under there, and your BlackBerry can hover above your bed. For some people, it’s just too much. The bedside table works just fine, thank you, and I don’t need my BlackBerry watching over me as I sleep. It’s bad enough that some times I roll over and my semiconscious eye catches the blinking red light in the middle of the night. With this thing, that red light is always above me. Sure, you can swing it to the side when you sleep, but it’s kind of eerie thinking the BlackBerry is always there, always hovering. Still, I’m sure some people will put this to good use. BlackBerry users are an intrepid group. It’s not for me, but it might be for you. So, do you plan to get a Smart Phone Sleeper? If so, let us know why it works for you. I found this thing on BBerry.com, and you can
pick one up for $34.95.
