Charge up a spare BlackBerry battery with a multi-function battery charger

by on March 8, 2012

For years, RIM put battery life above all else. In a way, that’s commendable. Mobile devices have become more powerful in the last few years, and that additional power has greatly eaten into battery life. Unfortunately, the singular focus on battery life left RIM behind in many ways. But they bounced back strongly with BlackBerry 7, which feature powerful processors that don’t destroy battery life. Still, battery life isn’t quite the same now as it once was. And that might mean carrying around a spare battery. Frequent business travelers, BlackBerry’s primary target demographic, are probably most sympathetic to this. After all, when you’re on the road it’s tough to predict when you’ll have time to charge up the Berry. At the same time, BlackBerry addicts probably long for the extra battery as well. The only problem is, how to charge that second battery? It’s way too much of a hassle to charge a spare battery within the device. That means charging up one battery, removing it, inserting the second one, and then charging that. In other words, it takes away the convenience of overnight charging. Chances are, you need a charger that will juice up your spare battery separately. Thankfully, there’s an answer. Seidio makes a multi-function charger that not only recharges your BlackBerry device, but also a spare battery. Just slide the battery in the slot and plug the USB cord into your BlackBerry and you’re set. It might cost you a little — the ones for the newer models are all around $30 — but for someone who needs a spare battery it’s a necessary expenditure. You can get a multi-function battery charger at the BBGeeks Store.
