Spotify coming to the US

by on July 7, 2011

Yes, Spotify has the right idea. Sound the horns! Their acclaimed music streaming service is coming to the US. For those unfamiliar, Spotify is a free streaming music service that lets non-US internet users browse and listen to its 13 million track collection. That matches many of the paid streaming music services in the US. Think of it as Grooveshark, except more functional and, gasp, legal. They have licenses for the music, and pay for these licenses by 1) taking in premium subscribers, and 2) playing ads up to 30 seconds long for non-subscribers. They also offer digital downloads in Europe, so we might look forward to that feature, too. Anyway, head over to Spotify’s website and sign up for an invite. This could be pretty big for Android music lovers.
