The Best Accessories for the Samsung Galaxy Note

by on December 1, 2012

When Samsung first released the Galaxy Note, they were met with ridicule by much of the tech press. Who could possibly want a 5-inch smartphone? wondered gadget blogs everywhere.

Plenty of people, apparently. Samsung has sold its fair share of Galaxy Note smartphones, and it will soon release the follow-up Galaxy Note 2, as well as the Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet. So maybe the gadget blogs don’t know everything.

If you have a Galaxy Note or are thinking of getting one, you might want to outfit it with these accessories.

DecoroGalaxyNoteCase

Decoro kickstand case

The Galaxy Note isn’t exactly a smartphone you strap to your arm on a run. You could, but it wouldn’t be the most comfortable feeling. No, the Galaxy Note is more of a multimedia and getting-things-done device. If you want one for the multimedia features, then you should check out the variety of kickstand cases available. They keep the Note protected well enough, while allowing you to stand it up and watch video on it.

The Decoro combines durability with an affordable price. There’s nothing really stand-out about it. It’s just a solid kickstand case. You can get it for $12.50.

Screen protector

There’s a lot of screen real estate to protect on the Galaxy Note. If yours chips or cracks, it could cause big issues. Cracks especially can spread and render your screen unusable. And since the screen is so large and important, you don’t want just any screen protector. The ArmorSuit protector will keep that thing free of any kind of scratches and dings, so you won’t have to worry even if the phone is in your pocket. You can get the ArmorSuit screen protector for $9.95. It comes with lifetime replacements, so you don’t have to worry about it.

Spare stylus

One of the features of the Galaxy Note that everyone’s talking about is the stylus. Steve Jobs famously said that people didn’t want to us a stylus and purposefully left them behind when designing the iPhone. But as it turns out some people do. The problem with a stylus is that it’s small and easy to lose. Best be armed with a backup. There’s an official one from Samsung that not only works wondrously on the Galaxy Note, but also comes with a case that looks like a pen. Of course, people tend to lose pens too, so maybe that’s not the greatest perk. But it’s something. You can get it for $30.50. Yikes. Maybe you’re better off not losing the original one.

Charging dock

If you want to charge up while watching video on your Galaxy Note, you might want to check out the official Samsung dock. It not only charges the phone, but has a built-in 3.5-inch port so you can plug in a pair of speakers and play your music or video with some kick. This one’s a little on the expensive side, too. You can get the charging dock for $26.
