Ok so the holidays are coming up and we here at BBGeeks.com would like to spread a little cheer to our loyal readers and Twitter associates.
It is no secret that in these tough economic times there is not much extra in the ol’ pocketbook to be spent on the latest BlackBerry application you’ve have had your eye on. That being said, we are sure that there is at least one cool game, or GTD application that you or a loved one would like to see on their device come the morning of the 25th.
Because we love you all, we have decided to give away two $100 gift certificates to the lucky winners which can be used to buy any items available in our online store.
How Do You Enter This Awesome Contest?
There are two avenues of entry for this contest and both are easy as pie!
- The first option is to leave a comment on this post with a short mention of how BBGeeks has helped you since you started visiting the site. This could be something like “I got my Curve 8330 a few months ago and I was completely lost when it came to adding ringtones to my BlackBerry. BBGeeks not only showed showed me how to add new ringtones but also how to create my own!”
- The second option for entry is by leaving a similar comment on Twitter explaining very briefly how BBGeeks has helped you with your BlackBerry issues.
To do this simply send a tweet which begins with @bbgeeks and contains your kind words.
The Contest Rules
We have noticed in past contests that many of you don’t like to follow the rules for entry. Therefore we have made the rules for this contest ULTRA SIMPLE.
- You can enter using both methods (either commenting on this post or via Twitter) however, all entries are only eligible to win one of the $100 gift certificates. Duplicate entries will be discarded and once a winner from one section is chosen their name will be withdrawn from the second prize selection.
- Your comments MUST MEET THE ABOVE STATED CRITERIA. Comments like “Please enter me in the contest” will be disregarded.
- The contest begins now and all entries received before 12:00pm EST on December 19th, 2008 will be eligible to win either of the two gift certificates.
- If submitting a comment on this post, be sure to use your real email address
That’s it folks. A super simple way for you to get a few extra bucks for the holiday season for a few new BlackBerry applications or accessories from our online store. We can’t wait to hear all the comments you have and look forward, as always, to making the upcoming year a productive one for all BlackBerry owners and fans of BBGeeks.com.
BUT WAIT! What If I Don’t Have a Twitter account? How Do I Get One?
If you do not currently have a Twitter account you are going to reduce your chances of winning one of the prizes by 50%. So how do you even up those odds again? The answer is to spend 5 minutes and set up a Twitter account so you can enter there as well.
Here are the steps required to sign up for a Twitter account and cast your entry to be eligible for the $100 gift certificate.
- Head over to Twitter.com and click on the Join link in the top right corner. Fill in your profile details (you can flesh it out later if you like) and complete the account creation.
- Next head over to the BBGeeks profile and follow us by visiting http://www.twitter.com/bbgeeks and clicking on the large button the reads “Follow”
- Click on the Home button near the top right of your screen and then make an update which begins with @bbgeeks followed by some kind words on how we have helped you get to know your BlackBerry.
- Once you have completed your message (140 characters max) click on the large button that says “Update”.
- Voila you have submitted your entry!
Last But Not Least – For All Those Who Don’t Win
If you are not one of the lucky winners in our holiday cheer contest you can still get in on the fun or grab a gift that you just know the BlackBerry addict in your life will love.
We offer gift certificates in a number of denominations which can be used to buy all kinds of accessories, applications and games from our online store. Perfect for stocking stuffers for the one you love, simply head on over to the Gift Certificate section of our store and choose the value of the card you would like to purchase.

BB Geeks helps me to stay on top off all the cool toys and apps that come out for the BB. I love trying new things and by the reviews & comments on this site, I know what to expect.
Thanks BBGeeks!
bbgeeks was one of the first people I followed on Twitter, they have been great and gave an outstreched hand to help me and welcome me aboard, and of course there post can not be outdone, dont for get to show them some love in the @shortyawards as well will ya, thanks
BB geeks has kept me informed about various fantastic news including the 4.5 update and my favorite the GPS update.thank you very much,I do enjoy your site and your tweets very much
BBGeeks has actually been extremely helpful to me. As a first time BB owner, I was amazingly excited to read ANY information on the Storm when I first heard the it was announced. As the date got closer and closer, I began to get a little worried because of all of the negative press. BBGeeks presented both sides of the story and helped to calm my nerves about the phone. Ask anyone around me now, and they’ll tell you I’m completely addicted. I went from saying “I’ll never have one of those” to checking BBGeeks and a number of other sites every morning to get more BB information, and never putting it down.
BBGeeks is the perfect aggregator for all of my BB needs, whether it be trying to figure out how to configure my LED, or simply reminding me how awesome it is that my Storm’s screen is near-unscratchable. Thanks BBGeeks!
@bbgeeks has been an invaluable resource to me since I got my first BlackBerry a few months ago. With excellent tips and tricks I have found every little detail on my phone and become truly addicted to my BlackBerry. Thanks for making my phone so much more than just another phone!
I don’t have the direct link handy but I believe I came across a post here that listed a bunch of games you can download on your Blackberry. There were tons of them of which I downloaded a few.
I also know that anytime I want to read a review or learn how to use a function on my Blackberry Curve, I can come here and find what I’m looking for.
@bbgeeks was where I first turned when I got my Blackberry. There was so much I didn’t know how to do. And yes, my original search was for how to add ringtones – go figure.
Great contest. I love my blackberry and this site really helps.
I am a proud blackberry owner. I love it! And BB Geeks helps me use my blackberry to its full potential. It is one of the sites I visit often because it always has interesting posts for blackberry users
@bbgeeks has been a huge help in my recent switch from a Treo to the bb storm. I was quite a geek about it and subscribed about two weeks before i purchased the storm. this was the first place i went after the purchase to get the storm set up and sync’d with my mac. thanks!
@bbgeeks has helped me numerous times with tech issues for my BB Curve (resetting, removing apps, hourglass). Thank you for giving me a quick, helpful resource for keeping my BB humming. The resources on the site enhance the help one can get via Twitter, too. Thanks, @cjweb
@bbgeeks has made my curve the ultimate machine to stay awake during boring classes, or take notes with ease. Im doing better in school than i ever would if i didnt have my curve
BBGeeks has helped me stay up to date on the bb info and given me pointers on getting the extra bit from my bb.
BBGeeks has helped me immensely. As a brand new Blackberry owner (with the Storm), I have found numerous hints and guides here to some of the most common tasks that were driving me crazy. I’ve been shown sources of wallpaper and applications that I never would have found otherwise. Thanks for the great work and keep it up!
Hi BBGeeks:
I picked up a Curve 8330 (Verizon) in September and BBGeeks has been an outstanding resource for me ever since. Beyond how-tos/tips/tricks (which BTW are terrific), BBGeeks introduced me to fantastic applications that I use everyday: Twitterberry, Vlingo and Viigo, just to name a few. Thanks, BBGeeks!
my daughter pointed me in the direction of bbgeeks when I bought my blackberry (she had hers for a about a month before I gave in and exchanged my HTC for a Curve). Within an hour of getting home I was searching bbgeeks for how to set ringtones, notifications, suggestions for applications and basically anytime I have questions about my blackberry. I follow bbgeeks on twitter also to make sure I get the latest info. Thank you for all your work.
I have been a blackbery user for quite a while. I consider myself pretty savy, but @bbgeeks is a standard read for me as it keeps me informed of some great programs and ideas. This includes your articles on internet radio as well as customizing.
thanks for the great BB info, now going with the BOLD for Christmas
I love you guys at bbgeeks! I first was turned on to the site by my buddy who works at T-mobile.
Not long after my Berry had new meaning and functions all thanks you you buddies at bbgeeks.
My fave app. I got from you was the Mobi Reader, which is awesome.
My fave post at bbgeeks was the 170+ free games for download, thanks for hours of entertainment.
Thanks bbgeeks for giving my berry an attitude, without you my berry would be mush!
BBGeeks is my site to get updated info for new BB devices. Just wish they had detailed info on when the new Curve is coming to TMO.
I recently came across your blog and have been reading along. I thought I would leave my first comment. I don’t know what to say except that I have enjoyed reading. Nice blog. I will keep visiting this blog very often.

@bbgeeks.com was a great resource I have come to use to learn my blackberry phone. I also use it in a letter I give to customers who have or are buying a blackberry and this is one site I make sure they come to know. It has saved me so many times and helped me learn the phone, apps available, and tips and tricks that I share with my friends and customers!
Now this is the type of response I like to see to a contest!
Thank you all for participating.
BBGeeks has helped me repeatedly with my new BB (my wife got it for me for my birthday in November). Most recently, BBGeeks was the first to tell me about the totally awesome news that Verizon was no longer crippling the GPS functionality in my new Curve. Icing on the cake was the link to the upgrade needed to activate my GPS. Keep up the good work, BBGeeks.
I have recently purchased a blackberry storm and was highly upset at glitches and was about to return it. a google search brought me to this web site and i was informed on the new .75 software download and i couldn’t be happier. thanks bbgeeks.com
Having recently purchased a Curve, I’ve been reading various Blackberry-focused websites and blogs and find myself coming back to bbgeeks.com most often. Why? I like it’s design and helpful tips. The recent mention of the homescreen keyboard shortcuts is one great example. Keep up the great work!
@bbgeeks has helped me with many weird and obscure technical issues I have had in the past as well as keep me up to date on some of the coolest news for Blackberries. It’s refreshing to see a site go BB that doesn’t fill their blog with New Carrier with such and such a device info.
Cheers
BBGeeks has helped me in several ways, for example trimming the fat out of my BB Curve 8320, or helping me cleaning my pearl, which was kinda cranky :)
BBGeeks is the first thing I look at when I open my home page. I got a Curve last summer and would be using 5% of its coolness were it not for your help. Now if I can just figure out how to change my signature on outgoing BB emails…
Im here to tell ya…its ok to B a bit GEEKy!
My wife got the 8830 first, as we didnt have the money to get 2 new BB at one time. I salivated for weeks as she showed me all the great stuff it can do, so during my nail biting wait, I searched the web and found the BBGEEKS and loved it right away. Why? Its packed full of greats news like ‘News from the wire’, quick and easy up to date info that I like to see, plus I love the layout of the tabs for recent post/top posts and recent comments. Its clean, quick and easy to navigate. But the thing the hooked me most was the side panel to the right, where I saw info on my carrier. This info was very helpful in negotiating a deal for my 8830 when it came time to upgrade…and the first night with it consisted of setting up bbgeeks thru viigo! Its literally the top choice when I open it. Most people dont like adds, and here on bbgeeks, you dont see alot of stuff splashed all over, everything is clean, tight and easy to navigate to find loads of great info, news, and help for all the GEEKy love of your Blackberry! Keep up the great site!
BB Geeks was one of my first follows on Twitter and since then they’ve helped me make some great gift choices and have always had the best “tips and tricks”. Thanks BB Geeks, you saved my life!
I just got my Bold and check bbgeeks.com and their Twitter account for all my BB news, staying up to date with new releases and general news. Many of the apps I have found via BBgeeks I use daily and now cant live without. Thanks BBGeeks!
I love the fact that BBGeeks does the basics blogs. I’ve been using my Curve for a while and these little tidbits of information always show me something I didn’t find on my own. I’m no longer using dial from the home screen anymore because the shortcuts are SOO useful.
Thanks BBG!!
you guys have helped me figure out memory issues on my various BBs
Education! I am still learning BB and I can use BBGeeks to find useful information to solve my issues or read tips that people provide and learn something I didn’t know I needed to know!
Big thanks to BBGeeks for helping me install 4.5 to my Sprint Curve!!
I recently was very lucky to run across bbgeeks. Actually while searching how to create my own ringtones for my new Curve! I’m having a great time reading through the site to find other helpful tips too. You all are a terrific resource. Thanks for all your hard work.
@bbgeeks has led me great apps like Viingo. The tech support type of posts have helped me with all sorts of issues. Besides all that, it’s a great place to hang out–with all of us other Blackberry addicts!
Always great to see some solutions before you know you’ve got the problem.
Thanks
I have a Blackberry Curve…Best phone in the world….HANDS DOWN!!!
Can we double dipp?, George Castanza thinks we can
BBGeeks helped me find a twitter application for my 8830 just this morning! I’ve been a crackberry user for awhile and love it, but have eschewed the whole app section cuz it’s a bit different of an experience than the iphone. but BBGeeks showed me some solutions which keep me crackin’!
I haven’t been around here for long, but I’ve learned how to clean and replace (if necessary) the trackball on my Pearl, and because I’m subscribed to the RSS feed, I found out that Wikipedia now has a mobile-friendly version available, and that rocks … because I read Wikipedia articles on my BB pretty frequently. So … thanks for the good work, and keep it up!
I love getting my tweets from bbgeeks. Ya’ll give out the greatest hints and tools I’ve never thought about trying. Kudos to you!!
Black Berry Geeks has made the learning curve on my blackberry much smoother. I am newer to the site but so far it has been very helpful.
BBGeeks has helped me filter a spam filled account to my Blackberry spam free. If it weren’t for bbgeeks my hip would be vibrating every 2 minutes with a viagara ad!
Just saying hello…True Blackberry lover here!!!
BBGeeeks has helped me figure out a way to do screenshots of my bb! Since I have an imac, I didn’t know how to do it! Thanks BBGEEKS!
Thanks for all the help you have been giving me with my new blackberry 8830 curve from Verizon Wireless……You have been helpful with me on my text message issues and you gave me the right advice when I needed it. I look at your website daily and feel it is very helpful!! Thanks again!!!!
BBGeeks has been a fantastic resource for me, as a fairly new Blackberry user. I’ve shared the site with my roommates (all Blackberry addicts!), and they’ve added it to their favorites and shared it as well. We often share links to pieces we find interesting and/or helpful, and I can say it’s definitely helped my roommate get up to speed with his new Storm (pretty jealous of his new phone!). I also follow @BBGeeks on Twitter to get the most updated news and highly recommend that you do to!
BBGeeks has helped me with every aspect of my BB thus far. When I got it I had no idea how to do anything with it and now I feel that there is very little I can’t do. Thank you BBGeeks for being such a valuable resource!
I just recently upgraded to a BlackBerry 9530, and had trouble finding useful tips and information due to its new nature. Not only did I find everything I wanted to know here at BBGeeks (even some things I didn’t want to know), but I found some great applications too. I can honestly say that this site has assisted me in unlocking a huge potential within my phone!
BBGeeks is a fabulous resource-it’s helped me find out about new applications and how to fix issues with the Curve. I generally click on most of the tweets as I find the information relevant and useful.
ok, seriously, this Storm my 1st BB and it’s taking some time to get used to… but thanks to bbgeeks, i am slowly but surely figuring out all the tricks and hopefully in a few days i’ll be a Storm expert!
I’m new to the world of BlackBerry with the recent purchase of a Storm. My last phone was a Samsung that ran Windows Mobile 6.1 and BBGeeks has been a great resource in finding several apps to make the transition smoother. Thanks for the good posts, help, store, etc. and keep up the great work!
BBGeeks was what i first put on my viigo as an rss feed. i like the news and helpful tips. thank you bbgeeks. :]
I found this site (a twitterer recommended it (prp2)) today and in the 15 minutes I have spent looking around I have learned LOADS more than the stupid book that came with the phone.
The LED light, the ringtones, the profiles, I can not thank you enough!
And I tweeted. @Adriennevh
bbgeeks.com has helped me try to figure out what blackberry I want to get for my new phone!
I love your app support. I’d been playing with push gmail and the gmail app forever until i read your tutorial and figured out how to stop getting those stupid sent message confirmations when I send from push mail. I’ve used articles on LED programming and twitterberry too. I don’t even bother googling for blackberry help anymore, I just come straight here.
Great contest idea! This blog has really great BB tips & tricks.
Thanks BBGeeks! Because of you my friends have dubbed me, BB Queen, LOL.
You have been instrumental in my learning most things and tricks about my BB. For that alone, I am truly grateful. When I do have to call my customer service or speak to someone at RIM, I give you props because you save them and me a lot of time! Your the best, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
BBGeeks,
You know what, if you happen to choose me….would you mind instead to give the $100 to Stray Teens in Las Vegas? It is an organization that helps homeless teens live with some dignity and get jobs and so on. I just learned about them on Secret Millionaire on Fox 8pm eastern. As much as I would like to have the $100 to spend on my BB, I don’t need it and they do.
Just a thought.
Thanks much for your consideration, ’tis the season right?
I got my Blackberry curve about a month ago, and bbgeek has been an absolutely awesome resourse for me on configuring and resolvong issues. Thank you bbgeek !!!
Love my BB curve & the helpful tips here are great. Love: the info on Twitterberry & the Wire wrap-ups. But why is there not a category listing for the Curve (or did I miss it somehow?) Thanks for putting all this helpful stuff in one, well two if you want to count Twitter, place!
Love all the info here especially the info on Twitterberry & the wrap-ups. Have I missed the category for The Curve? Thanks for being here & on Twitter
@bbgeeks has an excellent knowledge base of blackberry products and tech support. I refer the blackberry users that I support at work to this web site. The information is invaluable!
I monitor many BB sites, but cannot keep up with all the BB news, tips, softwae, etc. BBGeeks helps make sure I don’t miss any important updates and tips. The use of Twitter to send out news and tips has on more then occassion helped me better use my BB. Thanks BBGeeks.
I use this site to get technical information plus tips and tricks for work. I’m supporting Blackberry users, but I’m very new to the position. BBGeeks.com makes me look like a pro. I’ve also used it when I ‘crashed’ my BB Pearl. It gave me the info I need to get back up and running in no time! Thanks BBGeeks!
If I win, sweet! If I don’t win though, I hope that you guys take BB Queen’s idea into consideration.
When I first left the Verizon store with my Curve 8330 I was somewhat nervous becuase I knew that this device had many capabilities and for someone who obsesses over getting the most out of something I had to get help. I got my email up and figured the browser out, picture taking, video,SMS,MMS…Piece of cake. I thought to myself there has got to be more to this. Then came the BBGEEKS PODCAST, there are many blackberry podcast but none that really kept my interest as much as BBGEEKS. I obsessed over the storm with BBGEEKS, I was introduced to Viigo which has step by step allowed me to use my Curve as a modem,RSS Feeds,Networking, games, video and one thing that made me love them more is that they actually went out of there way to help me find the perfect bluetoothe which unfortunatly I have not got yet but it took time and work to find it. Thanks BBGEEKS!!!
Wow, thanks BBGeeks for helping me realize all the hidden potential that I’ve been missing in the year that I’ve had my BB. I have not been using it to its fullest potential. Love the site & tips. Have a great weekend!
